I love the occasional super long tier list videos. They’re really fun to listen to and watch, especially seeing as you know so much about the game, and learning why these things are good or bad from someone who knows what they’re doing is always cool.

I dont understand how is PD not an S tier. As long as Alchemist exist she should be S tier. Everytime you pick her your team will be better and there is no better rank 4 hero.

Shuff, recently I got a negative relationship with Yellowhand HWM and Ravager Hellion. She gave him taunt whenever she used Wicked Slice. Everything was bleeding! I felt like a Shroud enemy! I need more of that synergy in my life!

Petition to have ShuffCam positioned in the combat item socket during these skill overviews so people can see what moves paths effect + he’d be able to throw from there.
I think the people who say deadeye and sharp shot are the same are kinda incorrect. They seem very similar they both have the back line cleave. The single Target with reach. But dead eyes are much more damage only path, but sharp shots more of a supporting damage dealer. Which one's better isn't relevant in this discussion. The ability to apply good damage and a combo is almost exclusive to upgrade a double tap the only other move I can think of is Bash.
They're both damaged dealers with reach that like to be in the back line, but it's the difference between having Support options and having self-sustain. Absinthe and dead both provide Aubrey with insane self heals. But double tap and highway rob provide dismas combo and token stealing, for crits or other big problems.
They're similar but they're not cookie cutter, to me its the difference between chocolate and caramel cookies. They are both cookies and if you want a cookie you would settle with one you like less, but there's still an obvious winner (cookies our personal preference which backline DPS you take is team based but you understand)
Vestal S tier didn’t even need to see
I think Double Tap might pull ahead if you give Dismas a trinket that gives on-hit effects. Haven't done the math, but doubling your chance for Cuppa to proc might offset Pistol Shot.
I immediately thought of how there's a billion ways to stack dots. Base, it's fine, but there are definitely ways to make it superior.
For PD I find that combo on Noxious is often a downside with the current state of Alchemist. I’d rather have the combo for someone else since her piercing is so good.
Yeah, can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to have her unnecessarily eat a combo I was saving for someone else.
Yeah usually they’re good at having certain combos give piercing or deal more DOT for paths that have high piercing

@@rumbling9879Probably cause she's just outdated and they didn't wanna make a minor change when her path rework should be coming soon. I'm sure it's something they'll fix when that happens, seems very realistic to remove the combo bonuses from Alchemist.
36:00 the problem is HWM has too much repost on this path. There is no reasonable way you can get the use out of all the repost you get on that path if you are using him optimally between Take aim and Duelist advance. Like I played him with Grave Robber and gave him taunt as often as I can and still wasn't able to use all the reposts. I wish it did something else while just buffing repost damage
imo take aim on rogue is usually enough. Press it every few turns and swing wicked slice at stuff
Stealth takes too long to really get going for the game's speed imo.
I will say with Ounce of Prevention, the enemies have the res pierce either way. It's not like you go from 30% res to 35%, you go from 20% to 35%.

I don't quite understand the math here with the 10% res piercing making it effectively only a 5% boost. Wouldn't that only be the case if the hero had a base resistance of 0?
For example, if my base res is 20%, my res with ounce would be 35%. So an enemy with 10 res piercing would get me 90% of the time without ounce but only 75% of the time with ounce, right?
Shuffle makes it sound like the 10 res piercing gets applyed to both base res and ounce bonus seperately
I don't think he's under that misconception, I do think he's not making a good argument against Ounce though, for those reasons. If heroes consistently sat at 0% resistance it'd make more sense but not as the game currently is.
I like double tap mainly because it hits rank 1 so i keep it so sharpshot has something to do at the end of fights, the combo is nice too with the right team! Oh and that trinket that gives ranged moves execute 1 essentially gives double tap execute 2

One of my favorite compositions is Seraph, Surgeon, Yellowhand, and Berserker. All of the bleeds. It's absolutely wild, highest I have gotten on an Act Boss was 32ish bleeds a turn

The reworks I'm the most hyped for are Leper and Ocultist. Maybe their update will make me play this game more, since trying to complete 3 Confession six seperate times with Soloist on the team made me quit again.

@@danijelkotur1720 It's not trash, but it just doesn't have much to do after you complete it (but Kingdoms gamemode is coming soon, so that will change)
Sharpshot Double tap applies Mark when mastered, making it insane compared to pistol shot if your frontliners can use that mark. It also lets you keep a bunch of rank 3 characters like instructrice, sac stab occy, surgeon PD in place. Frankly, I don't run Pistol Shot on Sharpshot; grapeshot+double tap does the trick.
I think you still need pistol shot to take advantage of strength, crit or vuln tokens since it scales better
@@charles9590 That only helps for Rank 2 specifically, rank 2 is the easiest rank to deal damage to. Not worth skipping out on a whole ass other skill like tracking or robbery for.

@@charles9590 sharpshot grapeshot hits 3-4, pistol shot can't hit rank 1, so the benefit you suggest only applies to rank 2 where double tap is totally fine, so it's not worth missing out on another skill for (in the context of my grape+dtap setup)
I like double tap for the ability to strip buffs off the enemy, or if im blind i can waste the first shot clearing it. Or i can use the ability that gives me a counterattack, then pop double tap to move back in place. If if theres a shulfle to 2nd position, double tap will move me back in position. Also if you put that fire ability on him from the runnaway, he gets to apply it twice, i think, i haven't tried it yet.

I love long form content. Critical thinking and deep discussion is not a bad thing. It's actually a good thing. Be critically honest and go beyond shallow meaningless talking points.
A decent nerf for MaA should be :
-Stend Fast 1 block/block+ or only 1 taunt ( meaby keep it the same for wanderer only).
-And Hold the Line only beeing usable from 4,3 so at least u need to put a little thought if u wonna spamm it.

Runaway S tier I already know it in my bones
36:10 Now, I like this version of Take Aim, but my personal problems with it revolves around the path itself, being "focused on front rank combat and ripostes".
The damage is great, and if I want to make the most of all these extra swings coming through every round, I'd want to make sure that whichever designated tank I'm using, is NOT applying taunt to themselves.
Then I'll remember why I typically have a tank, when Dismas finds himself seriously injured after taking two hits. Outside of the singular Block/+ token he can get from Duelist's Advance, or whatever he can pull off with Highway Robbery, he has no defense to work with. No self-sustain. At least with the other pathways, I can spam between DA and PBS, avoid plenty of these hits with the dodge token and have a spare riposte ready. Take Aim granting ripostes for the next turns doesn't seem like as much of a benefit as it does a temptation to drag Dismas closer to death.
So what are the options? Do I have a tank guard him or taunt for the first turn while he sets himself up, forcing two characters to not deal damage on Round 1?
Do I bring along the Vestal and have them spam the fortitude consecration under their feet before they finally hit DA, to ensure they have at least 2 defense tokens to work with?
Ensure that there's always two healers on stand-by for when he hits death's door by round 4?
I think I'll just ignore Rogue's Take Aim. And have only the tank do round 1 preparations.

It isn't that good sadly. There is an achievement for hitting a riposte with duelist, hwm, and maa in the same turn though

36:10 WHAT?! How the hell do people not like take aim on this path?! ITS THE BEST VERSION OF TAKE AIM RIGHT NOW! You always press this because you get reposte, you generate reposte every turn for 4 turns (3) and mastered increases reposte damage by 25% and both get speed token! This is better than old take aim, it’s especially good when paired with the trinket that lets highwayman ignore blind after using take aim. It’s so much value. Only thing that would make this more busted if it gave him taunt. Which it doesn’t.
Always a turn one move unless he’s low on health.
Yellowhand has better damage with riposte than Rogue, and also, is it not better to kill them before they hit you instead of waiting for them to hit you to do dmg?
It's very bad and in no comparison to Wanderer TA for the following reasons:
- way too much riposte, more than 2 is probably wasted anyways so no extra value
- the dmg increase on riposte is a mere 1-2 even though it sounds much with the 25%
- duelist advance is generally better and you don't need 2 buttons and masteries that basically do the same
- 2x crit is worth around +160% dmg. You would need to consume pretty much all riposte tokens over the next 3-4 turns to get the equivalent value of a Wanderer TA which is highly unlikely to happen

its only too much riposte if you're trying to spam it and/or DA every turn, if you just hit it once on round 1 its pretty easy to use it all. that frees up the rest of his actions for other good stuff like pistol shot stuns or stealing tokens while giving him 20-30/25-40 mastered damage (and 5/3 combo) worth of riposte. thats a lot more than wanderer TA is gonna contribute, although obviously it has the downside of not being directed. its a different skill with diff downsides but also a very good one.
Too much repost, you will never get use out of all of them if you are using the path as it's supposed to be used. Like if it gave 2 repost baseline and for the turn buff gave block instead or can you imagine TAUNT, holy what a combo that will be

Can she fit on literally any team with any confession, with any torch? No. She's not S tier.
@@2GGopi would argue she can, as long as you think about her as a 2-3 dancer and not rank4 smpkescreen/firefly spammer.
She has a good heal which is usable in every region since every enemy faction, every miniboss and 3 out of 4 lair bosses bleed you, dragonfly is an amazing combo applier and deals great dmg, she has controlled burn for 2/3 action per round enemies, can disrupt a backline with good pull and after the latest patch her adjacement heroes firefly/ransack combo is actually usable, she has stealth and one of the best debuffs in the game, probably 2nd best combo applier in the game tied with occ
What team doesnt she work good in? She is versitile

@zamany7596 she brings limited AoE, no tanking, no stress heal, a great but situational and limited use heal. Sucks against librarian and general, sucks against act 2 confession. You basically already have to have a team that covers all these bases before you can bring her, which means she's just not that good. It's OK to like her, but why insist that she get ranked highly? It's just weird. She has some big gaps in her utility. She can't really single handedly salvage a bad run or complete a bad team like I'd expect from a top tier.
Compare to Banneret or wanderer flag and it's clear she just doesn't have nearly as OP of a kit as they do.
@@2GGop my first comment was obviously satire but the one after that is my genuine feelings towards her, she is a lot better than people give her credit for. ofc flag is better I am not trying to argue that. What I am arguing about is that she is one of the best combo appliers in the game, she has an amazing heal that is slept on by many new players and goes toe to toe for the best dot dmg dealer alongside alchemist. Not every hero needs to tank to be useful and runaway is a good example of that
yellowhand carries act 4. he gets an S just for that from me

I disagree with you on some of your points. In my opinion , plague doctor shouldn't be nerfed, the issue is with the other heroes, and how the game currently is. If your team doesn't have good 3rd and 4th rank damage, then you are basicaly fucked. I feel that the only reason that she is that strong is because compared to other characters, she matches the power level of monsters, while most of the other classes struggle. I think changes to vestal, man at arms and jester, while not in my opinion exacly good, pushed those classes balance in the right direction, while i have to put one of them in a team, I have to think for a bit while choosing their paths, instead of like before, just going "ah ofc its x for this character" slap it and go on, for me it's especially vestal, she really grew on me with those changes. For what's it's worth i think the game is going in the right direction with the balance, it feels less frustrating, Would be great if they manage to balance out the classes and paths, so it's food for tought while deciding on team comps. For me rn in S tier are: Helion, Flag, Pd, Occult and Leper A: Crusader and Highwayman and the rest are like C or D, its pain to run them
RH made more work for themselves in the long run. Monsters are way too strong which is why we lean on the busted paths a lot. When they rework the heroes they may have to adjust the monsters after. Very long process
@@ShuffleFM Thinking abaut it now, it's kinda weird how reletively balanced darkest dungeon 1 came out to be, and darkest dungeon 2 balance looks like that, but after all, we can only hope they manage to not fuck this up

Would abomination fix the range damage issue since I remember rage could hit all ranks also manacles did to
Rage and manacles only hit into rank 3 in DD1
They didn't, but hey maybe he can still be a backline killer considering dd2 heroes have significantly more robust kits.
Personally I'm hoping they go wild with his beast form mutations and do some creative ranged attacks with it.

The nerf with maa is now you run him at wanderer instead if getting the old vangaurd buffs or old sergeants buffs (which were broken). You did have a good point that his wanderer got a new taunt. His classes lowkey suck. Vanguard and bulwark at least, but thats my opinion

Wanderer came out better but his paths are so badly designed
His paths are not badly designed they are just different. Wanderer came out better but even before the changes everyone was only using the "Wanderer plus" path anyway because it was just wanderer with more stats. Now you have a better wanderer and much more flexibility with the paths
@@shizukousapostle1stapostle710 Now, every skilled player will just use wanderer because everything else is a wanderer minus. The downsides of the skill changes (mostly the Stand Fast and Bellow nerfs) are so big that they aren't worth the upsides. It is also bad design because the flavored play styles (stun on Bulwark or CA on Vanguard) aren't nearly as good as the retribution + crush on these paths and that shouldn't be a thing if they were properly designed and balanced.

This game is frustrating as hell. Like, whatever 1/1000 chance thing that can ruin my run happens 100% of the time. Literally beat the Lair on the first move destroy the boss only to get the Shambler on the VERY NEXT move. It totally took me out of wanting to play. It's always some BS with this game and it doesn't even feel like genuine bad luck. It feels like a setup that things aren't going bad enough.
Every time I turn this game on it wnds with regret.
i don't mean to discourage you nor devalue your shit luck but hear me out: getting shit on is kinda natural. i don't think this game tries to be fully fair. so i can confidently say: if you keep playing itll be worth it AND you probably will get shit on again sometime.
@@yoishiu The game has no respect for your time or strategy. That's how I feel after spending 20+ hours in this game. Everything is fine and then you get critted six turns in a row and someone gets a deathblow of the first chance. The turn order is always perfect for you to get screwed too. Like I can have a character go last every single turn until they're on death's door and suddenly they get a "good" speed roll. I feel like the game doesn't emphasize skillful tactical thought. They basically want you to repeat the same thing over and over until you get lucky.
I'm still gonna try to finish the game but my patience is wearing thin.
@@rabbyd542it happens to me as well. But don’t let it get to you (I know easier said than done). Stick with it. When you start, your tools will be limited. But as you unlock stuff at the altar, things get easier and more variety becomes available. Of course RNG will screw you sometimes but it can also be mistakes you’re making that the game WILL punish you for making.
It just takes time, learning and experience. Don’t give in. I have 140+ hours on PS5. YOU GOT THIS!

I think the balance itself is ok to fine, but the biggest weakness of the game is its insane run length compared to other roguelites. It wouldn't feel as horrible to lose a run through some bad luck if runs didn't go for 4+ hours each. That's like an average person's gaming time for the whole day.
The Kingdom gamemode seems to focus on short expeditions + base management like DD1, so hopefully that's the solution.
