As a Nintendo fan watching Sega not only allow but endorse fangames/animations and other projects like these is like starving while watching a family enjoy their thanksgiving through a window.
The music is a vibe, so it pairs well to balance Sonic's fast movement and gameplay. There's this misconception that fast gameplay = need fast techno, rock, or heavy metal music (as examples). Don't get me wrong, it's good and can make you feel like a badass... if used sparingly. In chill maps, though, where stakes aren't high and you're just getting from point A to B, chill music is the way to go, IMO. To compare: Imagine listening to *chill* outrun or vaporware while cruising in a car (one of my favorites is Home - Resonance), it's replicating that feeling in a Sonic game. Great song choices by the creator successfully allowed them to execute that feeling here.
It does, although the Don Quixote song really weird me out. It's an in-store background music track that everyone in Japan knows. It's a really big "whaaaaat?" moment and kinda takes you out of the game lol. What a weird choice.
I love the choice of Japanese pop music, really bringing Sonic back to his musical roots when they had Japanese pop musicians composing the soundtrack to the first two games
Yep. Like for example the ending song of Sonic 2 when you blow up the death egg and fall back to earth before getting caught by Tails in the plane, that song was actually a real song with lyrics and everything. It's called Sweet Sweet Sweet by the band Dreams Come True.
While I do like some ideas and its originality, every sonic fan game that I see just shows me there's a clear line between "fans" implementing random things in the game of sonic running on pointless and random paths (like the video above) and "real developers" from SEGA creating an actual game. For me the video above is just... whatever(?).
YEAH I saw a few other Adventure-style fangames lately and they all copied the boost game style camera and it feels awful but this one is actually perfect

Yes. Certainly looks way better than the atrocious, out of proportions limbs 3D model they've been using for the past 20 years. The last official 3D model for Sonic that I liked, was the one they used for Sonic Adventure.
@@rollingstart_90s this comment reminded me to add "3d" because there are some really good 2d designs. although, i feel as if this is designed more after 2d sonic box art than 3d sonic models? that would explain the familiarity and nostalgic style...

These fangames are so good that they should just change the characters to something original and sell it. I would so buy it in a heartbeat and to see people put so much effort in, they deserve to make money for this level of art
I had the same thought as well, but then not as many people would be talking about it and sharing it around. Better off making a fan-game first to get your name out there, accumulate fans, and then make your own IP.
A rather unfortunate circumstance. fan games, even good ones are already not getting the attention they need and deserve. So trying to make something that doesn't even have the Sonic name attached is gonna be a very hard uphill battle on gaining any attention. With indie devs not having the budget for proper marketing, if at all. It's unfortunately an objectively better option to stay a fangame.
Sorry, but I couldn’t stop laughing when I realized the song playing on the playground stage was the Don Quijote theme song. I've been a sonic fan ever since I was little with a Genesis and Sonic 1. Seen a lot of games since then, and one thing I see in this that I haven't in a LONG time is that Sonic himself displays how much fun he is having! The body movements, the running styles, and the sound effects, just a masterclass in bringing vibrancy to a character that SEGA themselves have so much trouble doing. He seems so loose and free, thinking of Sonic CD intro here, compared to modern renditions where he seems stiff, moody, and bored. Looks great! 😀 Some constructive feedback: 1. The smoke trail behind sonic should be nearly transparent the closer it gets to the camera. Should be easy enough to modify the shader to accomplish that. It will reduce the screen flashing and improve visual clarity, reduce distractions, etc. 2. Sonic's lock on attack seems to cause a severe amount of camera screen flash. If you could reduce that slightly, that would make it better for the same reasons in point 1. 3. Perhaps reduce the screenshake silghtly when sonic speeds or stomps, etc. Seems a little overkill atm. Overall I'm really loving this. Sega needs to hire you. 💖
My only critique is that the dust clouds and afterimages should slide *under* the camera or get more transparent as they get closer, both because the camera movement with the persistance of those objects could cause flickers on the screen quick enough to trigger epilepsy, and because it's just a bit disorienting getting your view blocked like that. Or add a toggle on the menus to turn them off (unless those are the impact frames mentioned in the video settings and I've missed something here).
Looks fun! I know game development is a lot, so this is def a feat in itself. The one critique I have is that it appears from the gameplay that sonic loses most of his momentum when he jumps. Other than that, I think this is a solid concept and aesthetic for a Sonic game. Excited to see what comes next

I thought this was an official release and was shocked that there was so much passion and creativity put into it before I realized it was a fan game.
This is gorgeous. The full game is going to be amazing
Sonic adventure 3 with a cell shaded art style and a city pop soundtrack sounds like a literal dream not something made in dreams
Broooo the game looks so cool, and the art style reminds me of hi-fi rush
im in denial that this was made in DREAMS for the ps4-5. it feels like it was made in a whole other program... its amazing!
Looks fun! I know game development is a lot, so this is def a feat in itself. The one critique I have is that it appears from the gameplay that sonic loses most of his momentum when he jumps. Other than that, I think this is a solid concept and aesthetic for a Sonic game. Excited to see what comes next
Looks amazing, i would only change one thing, to not lose momentum at jumps and spin attacks
This man's taste in music is phenomenal.... PHENOMENAL I TELL YOU!!! also the Japanese text that appears when you destroy an enemy gives me heavy jojo vibes. This game is straight fire man!!! Keep up the great work! 😆
That was a treat
Thank you very much, I hope I get to play this one day.
That intro hub and graphic design are top notch.
why are you playing the don quijote theme LOL
this is the most stylish and charming sonic has looked in forever and its made on dreams on the ps5... insane this needs to be made into a offical sonic game
I love the strong CD feeling this one has. It sparks joy.
Never heard of this and this looks so amazing! Then I realized I can check this out in Dreams, awesome
This might be the most polished sonic fan game I've ever witnessed
Let us not forget the intro is taking direct inspiration from neon genesis evangelion 🔥🔥‼️
Is that the Sega Dreamcast UI sound effects I'm hearing in this game? Sounds very familiar and almost nostalgic...
Mds como isso pode ser tão incrível e lindo
A gameplay e principalmente estética as musicas deixa ele simplesmente genial
The visuals, animations and mechanics are outstanding. =)
Someone get SEGA on the phone. I wanna put my money in your pockets. PLEASE. YOUR VISION, IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!
I just thought the dialog box was too big, it bothered me a little.
Please, dont just cut the part where it says Dreams, let everyone know this is Dreams, so this game can live again
Best sonic game ive seen a whille, i wish sega would help with this. Id hella buy this.
