    *** CORRECTION ***
    FYI I mistakenly say that the Z50 has a flash commander mode - it doesn't! Sorry about that and thanks to @atrbear for pointing out my mistake!
    Sorry for any confusion!

    great review and presentation...I've had mine for about 6 mos...I got the full kit with the FTZ adaptor since I have 6 F mount lenses..works flawlessly..as a side note, I still have my D7100, which I love, but this little Z50 goes with me everywhere..it's just fun ! totally agree..underrated..thanks !

    I was very surprised when i saw the photo's in the video, so sharp and beautiful colours! I am very interested in the Nikon Z6II but does it deliver the same quality pictures? Very much enjoying your channel! Cheers, Marco, The Netherlands.

      The Z6 II delivers another level of image quality above this. Low light performance is nothing short of phenomenal and I absolutely recommend it! 🙂 I have a preview of the Z6 II on my channel, I suggest you check that out. There will be even more Z6 II videos coming soon 🙂

      @@HamerReviews Thank you very much for your response! I look forward to seeing more of the Nikon Z6 II. I hope that you will consider to show a bunch of pictures straight out of the Nikon. I already saw your video's about the Z6 and the Z lenses, that made me enthusiastic about this camera. I think this Nikon will be a great choice for me coming from a Panasonic micro 4/3th (DMC GX 80) system. Thanks again for your great reviews! Cheers, Marco.

    My first DSLR was the D80, then the D90 (the first to do video). I shot with that until the D7500. I decided to pick up the Z50 to give mirrorless a go, and see how it worked with my F glass. I must have enjoyed it, as I just picked up the Z6II. My first full frame camera. Anyway, I'll definitely be holding onto the Z50. It's just so lightweight, and small, especially with the little 16-50. It's a perfect camera if you're going to be walking around all day with a camera around your neck.
    I only got the camera with the 16-50. My plan now, is, instead of getting the 50-250 DX, I'm going to get the 24-200 F4-6.3 VR so I can use it on both my Z50 and Z6II. I think it's a good solution as it can work for a walk around lens, alone, on both cameras. The equivalent of 36-300 is totally acceptable on the Z50, and I don't think I'll miss the extra 50 on the long end. It's VR to boot, which the Z50 will need.

      Totally agree with you, it's super capable and an excellent piece of equipment. I love mine with the 200-500mm 5.6. Great to hear your journey, long may it continue!

    I just ordered one and have it showing up on Tuesday. It will be my first camera and I spent along time going back and forth between this, a Sony a6400, or a Nikon D5600, but felt like the two lens kit gave the z50 an edge at this price.

    You mentioned that you suggest getting the two lens kit for a beginner. Would you also recommend getting the one lens and adapter kit for a beginner?
    Also, what would you recommend that competes with this to consider when purchasing a new camera?

    • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I dislike the Canon M line so wouldn’t recommend that. To be honest it’s things like Micro 4/3 systems and I prefer this over them.
      I’d only recommend the FTZ kit to someone who has Nikon F mount glass already. If not I’d say go with the two lens kit as it will do 99% of what people will want.

    Picked up the Z50 today with the little kit & the Z 35 1.8 S. I can’t wait to shoot with the 35 as Nikon makes amazing 35s. I’m actually returning an A6600 & sold my X-H1 for this. I’m keeping my X100V. I love Fuji & Nikon colors. I don’t enjoy Sony colors. I’ve now tried several Sony bodies, AP-C & FF and while they are technically amazing.. I don’t enjoy shooting with them. I’ve not taken many shots with the Z50 yet but already had a few AYFKM at over ISO 5000. It’s an amazing camera and possibly the best bargain out there right now for enthusiasts.

    Very passionate review! I’m very tempted for a Z50 as a second body and also for a little side project but that’s another story! Looks like a good capable bit of kit. Would you say build quality is on a par with the Z6? I recently sent mine flying with a tiny light scratch to show for a bounce off concrete and into a puddle from height!

    • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I love it alongside my Z6 II, it’s a great combination. IBIS isn’t much of an issue for me, I mean your D500 doesn’t have it - is it an issue there? I use it to film on a tripod, or I use longer lenses that all have VR. When using the 14-30 or 35 1.8 S or even 24-70 2.8 S ive never had any issues. Not sure if that helps? • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If your choice is based around wanting video features, I'd suggest the A6400 might be better. Personally I use Nikon's and love the Z6 and Z6 II for video. I also shoot video with the Z50, it's very good, but arguably not as good as the Z6. The Sony has a very good repudiation for video but the menu system is hard to use.
      So the logical choice would probably be Sony, but I'd choose the Z50 as if you also shoot stills, I think it'll be far superior.

    I am wanting to go to mirrorless. I am torn between the Z-50 and the Z-5. I basically use my cameras for traveling taking pictures of landscapes, buildings, wildlife etc. The downside of the Z-5 to me seems to be it 4.5 fps. My concern with either one is that the Z lens is that the 24-200 mm seems low. Which camera would you recommend to someone who has been using a Canon T3i and a Fujiflim Finepix S-1?

    • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kind of depends. Full frame vs aps c sensor makes a big difference. Will you shoot a lot in low light? In that case, go Z5, if not get the two lens Z50 kit. It’s small, light and great value. Personally, I’d get a used Z6 with 24-200.

    • @Ben_Stewart
      @Ben_Stewart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you think you need something for action or fast moving targets go with the Z50. If you are more of a low light / landscaper go with the Z5. Keep in mind the Z50 is the D500/D7500 sensor and the Z5 is the D750 sensor. The Z50 sensor is newer but not full frame obviously.

    In purchased my Z50 as a pre order with twin kit lens and FtZ adapter. Disappointed that the lenses didn’t come with lens hoods but were available from Nikon as an added purchase. I ordered an extra battery and spare eye piece as well but Nikon were unable to supply either for at least 2 months. I’ve taken just over 13000 photos which isn’t bad going as I have only used it on four occasions due to lockdowns. Great travel camera with kit lenses as they are really light. As I shoot sports events mainly I found the buffer does lag even though SD cards are latest editions. I am considering Z6ii but also drawn to D500 which is a top camera for sports. Too much on the market and I think mirrorless will fast become the go to system.

    hi mate nice review, basically im really confused on where to go, im an urban explorer and also into my planes and night photography, im still learning and only on a d3200, i can see that companys and buyers are starting to edge towards mirrorless, i love the look off them tbh, the size and weight factor is amazing, as you can imagine climbing and crawling around etc is hard with a big camera but i dont want to upgrade to a camera that wont tick the boxes for me, im not a pro and not using it for work, it hasnt got to be the best camera in the world as i wouldnt even know how to use it if it was, but it does need to be capable enough, so my questions are: is it good at architectural photography in day and low light, is it good enough for air bases and airshows in the day and not travelling at crazy speeds, ie landing etc, and will it be ok at night photography like in the city, light trails, long exposures etc, dont need the video side off it atall, its was between the d7200, d7500/ d500 for me but i love this z50, thank you so much if you answer me

      Hi there, glad you found it useful - please subscribe if you'd like to support me :).
      On to your question. Yes, the Z50 will work well for you, but probably at higher cost than the other options you mention. It has the D500 sensor, so the same low light capability etc. In fact, maybe even slightly better. It's probably perfect for air shows, low light it should be good enough - personally I'd go Z6 but you'd lose the 1.5 crop factor so less good for nature/air shows.
      As for architectural, yes I think it'll be fine but it'll cost you more on lenses, assuming you're talking quite wide photos, you'll need something more than the 16-50mm, so either you buy the 14-30mm (which isn't that much different but does control the distortion much better ) or you get the FTZ adapter and add a 10-20mm AF-P DX lens...
      I hope that helps, I do think you'll love the Z50 if you get one, sounds perfect for your use case.

      also i want the full frame z mount mirrorless in the next 2 years or so, which also is swaying me over to the z50 vs the d500 for learning the controls and being familiar when switching over, i understand the d500 is superior but its dslr and huge for what i need but if its going to be the one then so be it but its alot off money for me to pick the wrong camera, also i have quite a few dx lenses

      Absolutely, it would be a serious upgrade and the Z50 with the two lens kit makes for a great small setup that is VERY capable. The free Nikon snap bridge app is also great for transferring photos and video to your phone on the go so you don't miss the opportunity to share and you can use it to start recording video and check the viewfinder remotely with your phone which makes it very versatile.
      I'd honestly recommend it. You can use it in full auto or full manual and as with mirrorless cameras what you see through the viewfinder is what you get in terms of photo or video it's much easier to be creative.
      Hope that helps, please subscribe to support me, it really helps 🙂

      I think you may get more low light performance out of the Z50 than A6400, I can say on the XT30, I would argue that Nikon’s kit or the 16-50 and 50-250 is quite good value in my opinion! Good luck and let me know how you get on 🙂

    Is it a good buy if I get this with the 24-200mm lens?

    • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I think so. The 24-200 is a lot of Range but the only limitation would be a fairly narrow field of view, but it’s by no means a deal breaker. Personally I’d go with the two kit lenses unless you plan to move to full frame soon. They’re cheaper than the single 24-200 and have VR too

    4K 30 is pretty low, considering my phone can shoot 4K 60 Dolby vision or 4K 30 with 10 bit Apple Pro Res.

    • @HamerReviews
      @HamerReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure, if you’re producing content to that standard that will absolutely be a consideration, but in all honesty, if you need 4K 60 or ProRes output as more than just a gimmick, then I’d expect most people to be buying more serious video gear.
      I’ve got an iPhone 13 Pro but equally still find video quality ahead on even a Z50 let alone my Z6 II due to size of the sensor. Yes the iPhone might get slightly smoother video on 4K 60 but that doesn’t make up for the tiny sensor and optics 🙂
      But hey; I do totally get your viewpoint and actually think Nikon should have built more tech into the Z50 but such is life.

      Interesting, certainly not my experience. Don’t get me wrong the Z50 is very good; but it’s not up there with the Z6. In low light in particular I find the Z50 hunts a bit more. With older lenses it’s not quite as snappy either in my opinion.
