I still think knob single barrel is in my top 2 favorites. Never had a bad barrel pick, that increase in proof to 120 really impacts the level of flavors. Just solid taste. Mmm
I’m very new to whiskey and had only tried shot, but after seeing y’all I got the correct glasses and decided my first bottle be this knob creek single barrel. First taste it was okay. This time I’m trying it again while watching your review and I actually got the oak you did! I’m excited I finally got a not ethanol smell and enjoyed the whiskey more this time
Refreshing to see you guys are still at it, it's amazing seeing where you are now from where you started! So much growth but still rockin the humble reviews! Keep up the great work!!
I’ve got the single barrel 9 yr. mine is oily and dense. I use it sometimes to make an old fashioned, well my version of an old fashioned. It definitely holds up to dilution. It’s a great bourbon. It’s my second favorite, first being makers mark cask strength. Great video. Always enjoy watching.
Just got back from Jim Beam in Clarmont, Ky. Knob Creek is one of theirs. Amazing tour and tastings. Highly recommended. You should take the show on the road there! Made my own bottle of what you tried in this video. Pretty cool!
I'm a Knob Creek fan through and through. It was my introduction into good bourbon. I tried this one today from my local B&M and must say this one will punch you in the face! Love the flavors though and a splash of water really opened it up for me. It made one hell of an old fashioned. Will definitely keep it around. I find lots of pepper notes in this one.
I love the Single Barrel!! I drank it when I had COVID because it was a high proof Bourbon that would test my senses. I was surprised how much I was able to get on the nose and the palate. It’s a solid drinker and very enjoyable!! If you haven’t already, I’d love to see you try the Shibui 10 year Bourbon Cask Matured Whisky!! It didn’t need it, but I put it on a big rock and I swear I got sweet tea all over the forward palate. Hope you give it a go! Cheers!!
Like Buckwheat Pancakes. Love those! They're only second to IHOP Pumpkin, or Magnolia's Gingerbread pancakes. Not a fan of what Sweet Tea has become though. I like it so cold it barely dissolves the sugar, so only the tea towards the bottom of the glass is sweet. Also, try White Corn cornbread. Much better than yellow.
BOYS. Got a whiskey flight. Small batch of four roses, Jeffersons and willet. Finally found the bandaid note you guys have talked about before in willet! Wanted to tell you guys. Hated it. But the Jeffersons and four roses were super good.
@ 2:00 I always get peanut from Beam products...but different types of peanut. Like Knob has a roasted peanut taste, white label Beam tastes like peanut butter, Old Tub has a candied peanut brittle...
I was looking for an ECBP substitute (since it is so hard to find/get) and this came up repeatedly in different forums. I got a bottle, and while it isn't as complex as the ECBP, I found it to be quite good and worth the purchase.
@@jwalkblue7 yeah the 14/15 year picks are long gone. Thankfully I picked up a bunch when they were $35-40, though I'm starting to run low. The younger picks are good but not the same sort of thing. I don't think I've seen one over 10 years old in a while. I'll never complain about 9-10 year old 120pf single barrel store picks for about 50 bucks, but I miss the older barrels for sure
Not sure, in a chemistry sense, how a higher proof evaporated alcohol faster that a lower proof in the same air pressure, etc., Please explain to a newby. Thanks
Midwestern grain products. It is a giant factory that produces most of the whiskey in the US, creating giant batches with a wide variety of different standardized mash bills (percentages of which grain). Independent whiskey distillers/sellers often reach out to them and buy bulk for the first few years they are open, so they have something to sell while their own internally made things are aging for the first times. And some distillers instead keep buying from MGP indefinitely, and then do interesting things like age it in a new climate, or put it in rum/wine barrels to finish it and do interesting new flavors.
Been a fan of this channel, but there is one scotch brand that seems to be missing on this channel: Ben Nevis? How is it possible you've never tried/recorded this one?
@@Piface2099 ah that's too bad, it has an incredible taste. Visited the distillery too. One story was fascinating: couple of japanese brands use Ben Nevis in their 'japanese whiskey'. Would've liked their review of the brand.
Wait, what is this? A brand everyone has heard of? Not something craft and obscure that no one can get... Wait, nevermind. It's a single barrel store pick. It's ok, we're back to the "Craft Whiskey Vault" Cheers you magnificent bastards 🥃
In this week's episode, hilarity ensues as Daniel and Rex compare Knobs!
That hardly ever ends well😂

Yep at $50 near me and nearly barrel proof, and 9 yrs of goodness you cant go wrong!
It's totally a differnet presentation than the 100 proof Knob Creeks. It just shows how proofing affects the flavors.
wow... an Epic Mooch... Daniel didn't even flinch... nicely played Rex..
Stockholm syndrome. Just let him abuse you then forgive and love him. 😂😂😂

KCSP is an instant-buy for me in stores nowadays. Life is too sad without one on the shelf.

Fred minnick always talks about a corn bread note when drinking knob creek! You guys know him? Would love to see a collab between you guys

Rum review awaiting
Having that right now! I love it!
Not a fan of the classic 9, but I like the small batch. Knob creek is just solid though.
You guys should review Bushmills probation recipe
Those Knob Creek store picks vary in age up to fifteen years, wish you read the barreled on and bottled dates to determine the age of that one.
Not anymore. Store picks are only 9yr now.
@@jwalkblue7 I picked up a 12 yr old and a 15 yr old last month the 15 is not worth the extra $ over the 12
@@TheWaltpin you're talking about the 100 proof 12 & 15yr. I'm talking about 120 proof 15yr SiB store picks that were out a couple of years ago.

Used to get picks where I live for $37.50. Unfortunately they have gone up a little.
We’ve got the hipster big Labowski and the bald white flavor flav.
Thanks for the video 🥃

As a Georgian sweet corn bread is not southern but the tea is..
Sweet corn bread is actually "Northern Style Cornbread" and "Southern Style Cornbread" is not sweet.
Cost me 58$ a bottle in Oregon
Johnny Cakes!
I like videos where people say knob a bunch.
Man sometimes Rex looks how I feel.
Mooch be a mooching & Hobbit be a hobbling.
were not calling 😀😀
"Taken over by hostages?" Are you all Home Alone?
I know it might sound a bit insulting, but would you guys be interested in reviewing a bottle of tequila?
Real cornbread is dry not sweet ,perfect to soak into your beans.
Isum
Not a Knob Creek fan. Not bad, but have not found anything I truly liked.
Have you tried the 12 yr or 15 yr yet
100 proof vs 120 proof - "easy 20% difference"
45👍
