The "backwards" sounding Russian has an explanation: Most of the words in English end with vowels, so the flow of speech is almost uninterrupted, like a song. One word stacks with another like a jigsaw puzzle. It starts abruptly but then they drag the word. Russian on the other hand has majority of the words ending with consonants, so speaking Russian is like jumping on the river rocks, one by one. (I'm native russian speaker) We drag our words and then end them abruptly. So it's basically English in reverse.
irina vlady yes, right! I was thinking about Russians distinctively splitting words into syllables when we talk and wrote that word instead of consonants. I’ve edited, thanks.
@No One Согласен.
You shouldn't worry. Actually in Russian it is "peedor" with highly articulated D. I am Russian and name Peter doesn't sound same to my ear. Surprised that the topic arose. What is more funny that Russians have names like Sergey (literally sounds like Sir Gay) and Alla.
Например я. Многие иностранцы говорят что я Russian guy, хотя узбек, но видимо они так считают от того что я на русском говорю как носитель языка, а родной я почти забыл.

Well, in Russia there are two different naratives for native Russian and Russian cityzent - native Russian is the one who is called RUSSKY, wile Russian cityzent is called ROSSIANIN. And the reason for this is that like America, Russia is very multicultural, so not all people living IN Russia are actually native Russians. They ARE however Russian cityzents. Some cityzents really imbody the culture of native Russians ( its called being Russian at heart ) Others don't - they speak good russian, but their culture, religion and the way they interact with other people is VERY VERY different to any other native Russians or othere native groups of Russian Federation. This goes particulary for muslims and buddist living on the Easter and Southern side of Russia. Its a tricky subject to adres, and many foreigners don't seems to care anyway, so regardless of the backround many Russian cityzents call themselfs Russians "automaticly". But by that they refer to themselfs as ROSSIANE - a proud narative most Russians LOVE using. I'm sure it feels like too much information, but there is no shorter way to explane it. P.S. most of the times, guys with names such as Khabib ect. are from Caucasian Mountain region, like Chechnya, Dagistan, Osetia or region of Tatarstan. Their skin color is also darker.

I'm Russian and I'm not offended at all! It's HIlarious! I was laughing my ass off every sec!
The "backwards" sounding Russian has an explanation:
Most of the words in English end with vowels, so the flow of speech is almost uninterrupted, like a song.
D K-sky when you said syllables you probably meant consonants.Syllables means слог
irina vlady yes, right! I was thinking about Russians distinctively splitting words into syllables when we talk and wrote that word instead of consonants. I’ve edited, thanks.
Huh, good explanation.
@No One Согласен.

@@nickdsp8089 >But russians call the city Petrogrand
you said about how russians call the city and now you're saying that it's not about that.
are u ok bro?
yet, it's nothing like Petrogrand. it was Petrograd maybe, but it's rarely and mostly common for the previous centuries before the great revolution in Russia. after it Petersburg was called Leningrad for almost 80 years.
now it's Saint-Petersburg (even in russian it's Санкт-Петербург) but it's mostly common as Petersburg (Петербург) or just Питер. the origin is not russian but the name of the city still remains Saint-Petersburg either in russian or not. so please if you don't have idea what are you talking about just don't say anything.
Но вам, из Греции, конечно же, виднее, как мы, русские, называем нашу Северную столицу.

in 2011 i had a stroke and was in a coma for a month. 3 months of my life are a blurr and when I got home the only thing that couldn't get enough of was you! I laughed so much that my husband was shocked. My husband is Indian from Meerut. I saw everything that was out there with you. THANK YOU SO MUCH! When you went to Westbury Music fair I attended but I got the flu that day and don't even remember anything of that night except wanting to get home into bed. Very few comedians make me laugh but you had me in tears. May you have continued success. I never tire of your shows and I saw the Indian detective. Would have like to see more. Again THANK YOU!!!!!
Not only in Russia, the same in UK--english and british 😎
