    I had a NC700X from 2013 to 2019 and did about 20000 miles on it, including trips from England to France and Germany. It was so awful that when I changed it in May last year, I had to get something at least a little different, so I forced myself to buy a new NC750X DCT.......

    • @RobertLeeLewisThe2nd
      @RobertLeeLewisThe2nd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sounds like my experience. I started with the NC700X DCT. It is actually only 670cc. Compare that to the NC750X with 749cc displacement. That is over 10% increase in displacement and approximately 8% increase in horsepower. When I upgraded to the NC750, I really felt the increase in power. And the DCT advanced by one generation at the same time. So, more power (same weight) and smoother transmission. I love the NC750X. I added HONDA top case and paniers, heated grips, a Madstad windshield (I STONGLY recommend the Madstad system), and some lights. COMPLAINT: The new LED headlight is a bright horizontal beam that leans with the bike, causing blind spots on curves at night.

    Mine is even more boring now I fitted a Shad seat on it and my backside doesn’t ache after an hours riding. Not satisfied with the excitement of constant buffeting from the stock screen I fitted a Puig touring screen. Now it is much quieter and duller to ride. And with DCT I don’t even have to change gear myself. It’s a miracle I can stay awake while I am riding.

    I'm young, 35, and I own this bike. I like hearing a 66 year old saying what I know deep down is true. I look at the GS and KTM's that my friends ride but the extra cost for those bikes just doesn't quite justify it to me. You pay 100% more for a new one and get 10-20% more experience and then on the maintenance/longevity side they're actually losing. I"m not the cool guy in the fleet but like you say, I go wherever they do and if there's ever drama surrounding breakdowns, it ain't me.

    I sold it and and bought a Ducati Multistrada 1200, what a mistake that was too tall and heavy comfortable saddle was the only thing going for it.

    My Honda NC700S, that I bought in 2013 and has now 106.000 km is so boring that I have decided to keep it as long as I can. I am saying as long as I can because the bike doesn't show any signs of letting me down.
    In fact I found the bike so terribly boring that I also have a NC750S, from 2014 , that I bought used in 2017 from my local Honda dealer.
    I told the dealer that I would give this terribly boring bike a good home and always enough fuel, oil, care and maintenance and off I went.
    No regrets whatsoever, and before I forget let me say thank you Honda for the most boring bike there is, since it suits me like a glove.

    Just brought an NC. Looking at your past bikes, you have had a lot more dirt oriented bikes than I did. Your idea of off road boredom would be VERY exciting for me! However, I can relate to the pleasures of boredom as I own four late model GP 2 strokes, exciting track bikes to 99.9% of riders. On a twisty road I would take the boring NC any day, exemplifying your comment at 4.20 that the road is not a racetrack. The soporific manner the NC eats up "twisties" takes boredom to new heights. I have never "tolerated" boredom so much in my life. Now to find a dirt road to make my NC exciting! Great review, thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Greetings from Newcastle England.
    I picked up a 2012 NC700 a few months back and being used to dare I say a little smother and with a bit of grunt. But I soon I realised that it’s no race bike but it’s not really much like anything, but it’s self. And this is why it’s my kind of a bike now in my 50’s, to commute and have a ride out or along with others.

I love to ride this, is so easy to ride, so nimble and compared to my last bike who had double the power and the horses I ride this one MUCH faster than that one and much more relaxed and focused. Very comfortable and I really like that the exhaust is not loud and the engine has a low rumble, is just perfect for my ears. It's just full of small things that just makes you smile. I'm sure all the motorcyclists that don't see it as a real bike due to low specs and no gear shift(on DCT version), once given the chance to ride it, it will change their minds. Great vid, and you're exploring the issue "is there one bike for everything", that's something I struggle with, I suspect most riders do. By comparison you are in the Zen Zone with yours, which is a geat place to be. It's sad but true that trends/fashion and brand kudos have too much influence over us. I've also owned a few bikes over the years including several 1000cc plus bikes, and I do my own maintenance, so two cylinders is the maximum I want to cope with these days. In the continuing search for one bike to do everything I sold my NC four months ago and bought a Himalayan. I like the Himalayan, and I miss my NC. My girlfriend and I did lots of pleasureable miles during the UK L**k Down on the NC. The Himalayan can carry two, just not as well and as quickly as the NC. Top speed on the NC is 100MPH, it'll do that solo, or as I found travelling in Europe it'll also do that with full luggage and a pillion. Fuel economy is brilliant too. It would have been nice to try an NC with shaft drive, a few more BHP, and a more comfortable seat. Great vid, and I love the dry delivery/humour. I hope everything turns out well down under, the reports we get here don't look so good, these are strange days for us all.

    This is just the video I needed as i'm in a horrible situation. I've had so many bikes over the years, but mostly sportsbikes, had a bit of everything from Super Blackbirds, Fazer 600's etc, enjoyed them all but 99% of my riding is commuting because the bike is my only transport. Years and years ago I had both a Triumph Speed Four and a Triumph TT600 and they cemented themselves as my favourite bikes of all time...so much so that I purchased myself an extremely tidy TT600 3 weeks ago and I was back in heaven, problem with these is they are bastards to do even the simplest of jobs on, they guzzle fuel, even after updating fuel maps, they have the terrible throttle response and lack of low down power that causes issues during every day road riding.
    A few days ago a lady pulled right out from her driveway without looking and smashed into the side of me, my TT600 was a write off, as was her car so I'm proud of the bike for at least getting in its revenge before kicking the bucket. My insurance company dropped off a hire bike for me (that amazingly gets charged against her insurer, this is to make them hurry up and not drag their feet, works too).
    The bike they dropped off was a 2019 NC750X, I've not had a chance to ride it yet, but I knew very little about them and have been watching your video's, and it seems the perfect ideal bike for me, once my leg and shoulder are a bit better I'll be able to take it for a spin, but watching this vid has made me realize that as much as I love those Triumphs, and those sorts of bikes, perhaps it's time I let them go and just let them be a memory, and that the NC750X is the most sensible and practical bike that ticks every single thing I need. Thanks for the video, I think the sarcasm and good old Aussieness of it all has helped me see sense over here in the UK!

      I can use all of the power on the NC when I want to but it’s not overpowered. I can’t see the point of paying the fuel cost of dragging a 1000cc, 1200 or even 1800 engine around the world. If the NC had a lighter frame it would be even cheaper to run.

    • @IntoxicatedDriver
      @IntoxicatedDriver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take into account that the centre of gravity is rather low with this bike, which makes it rather easy to handle, even though it's on the heavy side. You might want to check whether its height is ok for you. It's a narrow bike, especially around the knees, therefore you may be able to decend you feet lower than with wider bikes. Videos of short females, telling about their experience with the NC, are on youtube, though, and what they report sounds encouraging.

    I've been looking into the NC750X for some time now currently still in the process of convincing the misses I do need a new bike to go to work (about 55km one way). • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is a 2016 model - manual gearbox.
      Poor sales in Oz means Honda Oz aren’t importing them anymore.
      There are lots of excellent bikes available now, so choosing just one is almost impossible.
      There are practical reasons to buy the NC, and the DCT version makes a lot of sense for commuting. I don’t see much benefit in the 21 version over the previous models. So price of a superseded model can be a factor. And the bike will last for ever. One owner has done over 220,000km to date (DCT version) with only routine maintenance.
      But in the end, you should go with your heart as riding is about fun, not just practicality.

    • @EmpZombie
      @EmpZombie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AfricaTwin-Stuff I can't help but think the DCT version takes a bit away of the actual motorcycle riding. I like shifting gears :) The price of the NC is also very good... I think I might just pop on over to the store on saturday and put my ass on one to see how she feels.

    Is the bike good for riding 2-up? Most reviewers say it isn’t based on horsepower, but I don’t think they’ve ever tried it. I’m really leaning towards picking up one of these, but can’t find a definitive answer on riding with a passenger.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff

      My wife has her own bike. So I can’t comment with authority. I know a number of long-term NC owners ride two-up.
