      I let my dog lick my hand, but only if I know there’s a sink nearby to wash afterwards. I’ve seen where she puts that tongue!
      When people let dogs lick their faces I almost feel like throwing up. A dog licking your face is like rubbing your face on the dog’s rear end, while at the same time picking up every stinky rotten thing you can find on the street and smearing it all over your face.
      I love my dog to bits, but I don’t have a filth link.

    This is so true. It's way faster to potty train dogs by rewarding them with treats than any other method.

    • @realplonk
      @realplonk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      this isn't true. The best way to potty train your puppy has nothing to do with treats at all. Setting up a strict daily schedule that includes crate time, sleep time, eating meals, play time and going out for walks is how you can potty train any dog over 4 months old (because this is when they develop the muscles to hold the urine.) Over a period of 2-4 weeks your dog's crate time is gradually reduced to out of the crate time. When set up and followed properly you can house (potty) train a dog within 2 - 4 weeks. I once house trained a rare white collie in 10 days and I can tell you all the top animal trainers and breeders use this method.

    • @ripsaltydog1750
      @ripsaltydog1750 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    • @lftr_react
      @lftr_react 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@realplonk There's nothing wrong with treat based training. It is equally true structure and pattern play an important role. With treat based training it's only important to transition to praise and phase out the treat as the training is cemented. The most important aspect is that you are implementing a positive reinforcement training regimen. If that includes treats, that's perfectly fine. Just practice phase out so it does not become the prerequisite for behavior.
      Positive reinforcement training, along with clear boundaries, makes for an obedient and well adjusted dog. Far, FAR too many people resort to lazy tactics such as shock collars to 'train' their dog. This negative reinforcement training leads to an animal that is obedient through anxiety and pain and will generally result in a poorly adjusted animal. So, when I see a person who says they got their pup trained with treats, I say God bless you. More power to you.

    • @realplonk
      @realplonk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lftr_react LMAO never said otherwise, training animals with food is a no-brainer and doesn't need to be mentioned. It is assumed everybody knows this. Training any animal, dolphin, orca, cats, birds, rats any animal is best done following scientifically proven methodology. Following a firm schedule nets the best results in the least amount of time. TY GL.

      @lftr_react 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@realplonk When someone makes a statement regarding the speed and effectiveness of treat based training and your response is, "This isn't true", you are literally saying otherwise.
      But now you and everyone else in the world understands it such that no one should breathe a word? Ok, great. By that logic, everyone understands structure and repetition's role in training so that you had no need to speak as well. What are we doing here?

    My dogs don’t mount at all. I’ve had my toy Yorky, who is 11 years old has never tried to mount me at all. Never never never. And my German shepherd female doesn’t either. My dogs are very very well behaved, lovable, kind, sociable, and loyal. I happen to be very lucky but I also treat them as if they’re my children and make sure I have time for them each and every day. And I pet them quite frequently to show them my affection for them. And when I take them out, they are well behaved and not once in my lifetime I’m 73 have any of my dogs ever tried to attack any human being. My dogs are gentle around from senior citizens to babies. It’s all on how you treat your dog is how they behave. I’ve had a dog since I’m about five years old. And never did I ever have a problem with any of them. The problem is human beings. They don’t know how to treat dogs and then they blame the dog.

    this is just not true, now parts of the info here may be true at certain times, for example puppies are fed from the mothers mouth so they may in their first few years of life think they will get food from your mouth but over time they learn that a kiss is a sign of affection. This is why it's important to not feed dogs from your mouth even though many people do it. As a rule you should not be exchanging saliva with any animals.

    I have to slightly disagree with 9. You should be the pack leader if you want your dog to behave right. This doesn't mean that you dominate their every move, but it's more the way a father guides their children. You should be more like the benevolent dictator. You guide them so they stay out of trouble, but if they're good, they get treats and affection. If they're bad, they get punished. It's very important to establish the difference between disobedience and ignorance. If the dog isn't doing what you say because they don't understand the command, then no, you don't punish. If you've trained them to respond to a command a certain way and they don't that's disobedience and deserves swift punishment (or else they'll be confused about what and why they're being punished and just take it as an act of aggression)

    I raised and trained and been owned by top winning show dogs, obedience , protect dogs, therapy dogs, and service dogs. Some of this stuff is true half of it is bull shit. Do your own homework and check several sites. then realize there is a tremendous difference in breeds and genetics when it comes to life span also a lot depends on diet exercise and good or bad breeding. 60-70% of Golden retrievers die from cancer between the ages of 6 -10 in a dog that used to live to 14 regularly, its genetic. While I know lots of Black Russian terriers a giant breed that regularly weigh 130lb+( mine is 155)that are 14. And a a Kangal is even larger and and often live to 14-15 yrs. While French Bulldogs and other very small dogs often don't make it past 11. Great Danes 8-12 yrs but I knew 2 Irish wolfhounds who were both 14 1/2 last time I saw them. I had a 90 lb Bouvier that lived to 16. Also breeding lines are very important in purebreds. If longevity is your main goal a medium sized 30-50llbs dog will on average live the longest. BUT diet and exercise is a huge component, great food (not the crap that comes in a bag from the pet store) And regular exercise is super important, for example a mile to a mile and a half a day, every day is way better than having them being a weekend warrior, also when you exercise your dog regularly (trail walks are best) you will live a lot longer too. And as for your dog licking you because your smell like ASS that's just stupid. I have to leave town for a couple of days to get little kisses. My daughters Pitties showered me with love and kisses when I first show up then after a few minutes returns to her normal sweet self. Yes if you rub bacon on your hands and face you will get a wash job DUH!
