That's a genuinely world-class (quick but useful) review - and no I'm not kidding - of two cars that we're looking at. Really appreciate your view (and Angel's and your car-loving friends) on everything you drive, and this was fun and informative. My wife and I arrived back in NZ 10 years ago and bought a 2005 Fit 1.5 V-Tec with 56K kms as a run-around. We still have it and drive it every single day. 145,000kms now and the only thing we had to fix was one seized brake caliper 3 years ago. Quiet, smooth, fun, the magic seats, and we love it. The new one - especially the RS - is tempting as a town car that's for sure. Thanks guys.
Thanks man yeah I do my best to keep them informative, entertaining and reasonably brief. Glad you enjoyed it and would recommend either as a replacement for sure!
@@KiwiCarLife do you think its enough to have fun in the mountains, i mean just decent fun, looking for something new, love the jazz, have a MINI S now, need more space, but also want fun :)
My wife has a 2017 Fit RS Hybrid imported to Ireland from Japan. F**k me it moves. I'm so impressed with it that I'm about to import the 2023 model to replace my 2l Corolla Hybrid GR Sport. Edit: the 0-100 in her car is 7.4 seconds. I'm now thinking her car isn't standard.
Great job with your videos as always! Nissan do something similar to the newer Honda Jazz (where the petrol engine is just a generator). Would be keen to see your take on the Nismo Note S E Power if you ever got hold of one for the channel. Cheers!
Yeah it is the Nismo Note S Epower. Cool looking car & the S version is higher spec than the rest & from what i've seen is that they are quicker than the latest Jazz. Driven the Latest Jazz Rs & it is an awesome fun car, only thing that i don't like about it is the front, reminds me of that character from Futurama.
Awesome comparison between the two generations! I have driven both just recently and I have to completely agree! The new RS is a genuinely fun car to drive for car people despite it's main target market! Also that learner BMW driver too, just wow haha...
Apparently, you are the only person in the whole English-speaking CarTube, who thought of comparing two generations of the car. It's good to you, but mostly it shows how bad is the state of car channels bloated with useless information
I think part of it is market availability. One is a Japanese market car generally unavailable anywhere else vs NZDM Jazz. NZ is one of the few markets that will even have the option of Fit vs Jazz due to our importing laws
I literally just test drove one of the new Jazz Rs hybrids today. Gotta say, very impressed. It handled well, had good steering feel, not as vague as some small cars, and it seemed very economical. I think this could be a good little all-rounder - great around town, and not too bad on longer trips.
_Honda Power 💪🏼 _*_AND_*_ economy! … really impressive, considering a VT Commodore 5ltr V8 auto had a claimed 0-100kph of around 7.8-7.9 seconds and triple the economy 😁_ … _-yeh I know not the same class but how times have changed-_
Great review thanks KCL, I'm interested in a Honda hybrid, so enjoyed the comparison. With the older Fit Hybrid, is there any information on how the batteries last, and any way to check the State of Health?
Glad you enjoyed it! And no I don't believe there is any way to do a SOH test, but Hondas aren't known for premature battery wear. By the time they might need replacing the car will be basically worthless anyway
Actually testdrove the 2023 Jazz e:HEV, pre-facelift. Drove really naturally coming out of an accord, got excellent fuel economy (3.9L/100K), also pretty quiet. But the merge onto the highway... coming out a similar power Accord you had.. there wasn't enough there. This new model has like 12HP more I think, but still. And then there's the price... 36K euro for the basespec. 40K for a 2023 Civic basespec. Just...Dutch prices man. I can see why Honda struggles here.
That’s nuts man they’re $37,000nzd here. Makes them pretty good value for money. Definitely a little more than the competition but it’s also a nicer car
Happy owner of the new RS. Bought it when Labour were still doing clean car rebate so got a 3.9k refund on a 37k car ;) Came quite close to buying the pre-facelift but didnt liked the handling and the two spoke steering wheel back then. The RS solved everything! First time test drove the new RS I blasted onto the harbour bridge from the Onewa Road onramp and the differences in handling were really noticeable, and it was a really fun car to chuck into the corners. Just wished they didnt cut out the heated side mirrors or the wireless phone charging of the Luxe models.
Was very set in my bigger and more powerful petrol (or diesel) engine mind - preferably with a manual gearbox attached! You would hurtle you down the road at great speeds - listening to the roar of all those angry horses lol I'm a hybrid convert these days. Have a 2023 Haval Jolion hybrid. All that electric motor torque at a moments notice, then the petrol engine will kick in without you realising.... the acceleration from a standstill is brilliant! No turbo or supercharger - no lag 😅 still puts a smile on my face! the fuel economy - 5.3l per 100km - for an SUV... just off 1000kms distance per tank around town - due to the electric motor being used more often than the petrol. 😁 While I'm still a petrol head at heart...I'm not sure I'd ever go back to a standard engine setup.
Think they are very similar, the note has an almost identical 0-100. The first gen e12 epower notes are probably the best value for money cars you can buy at the moment.
Great review as always, thanks. Glad to see they improved the looks from the egg/bug look that was massively outdated & rather ugly. This 2024 model is much nicer.
Hey man, does the current Jazz Mugen RS (e:HEV) in New Zealand come with any suspension/performance improvement over the normal RS, or is it just body kits?
@@harris4778 just body kit man, personally I’d just get the RS, because when you come to trade the mugen one in it won’t be worth any more particularly so you’ll just throw away the extra you spent on the kit and wheels

Can you choose a different mode to cut out the fake shifting on the new Jazz? I can't imagine why the ice 'generator' would be changing revs like that when you were doing if the electric motor is direct drive - perhaps you could enlighten me?
@KiwiCarLife thanks. I'll have to give one a try. To me, the idea that the ice goes to optimum revs to put maxim power into the battery while the electric motor puts optimum power on the road, seems more logical than the revs changing.
@KiwiCarLife maybe I havent put it in a right way. Can patrolhead get used to a cvt that has no option of changing gears, and has only one gear? Like how much does is bothers or it doesent feel at all. Im thinking about it in acceleration like transmisson struggles to change a gear as it reaches top rpm, but at the top it stays and never gets changed. That is awful feeling I guess.
