I've waited since the very first MG kit came out for this MS. The FZ is iconic, 1989's 0080 gave us some iconic MS, and finally now in 2019, they give us one more in 1/100 from it. Hygog, GM Sniper, GM Cold Climate, Kampfer, Zugok E, Zaku FZ, Gelgoog Jaeger, Ric Dom II, GM Command, GM Command Space Type, Alex, Colony Defense suit, man they did the mecha right in that anime. It influenced UC designs for most of 0083's mecha, 08th's, Thunderbolt, and Igloo. I have always wondered at Bandai's lack of MG line up for this show. I mean the first MG was like 1994-5. They still have huge holes in 0080 mecha line and they're 200+ MG kits and counting. Talk about keeping collectors wanting. Sheesh 25 years... anyway, I can't wait for this guy. Bernard Wiseman was awesome.
Joe Belding Yeah, seriously. This shouldn’t have been an RE/100. It should have been a Master Grade or an HG 2.0. The FZ is not an obscure suit in the slightest; it does not belong in a line full of obscure suits. It really is sad when the Robot Spirits line treats 0080 better than Gunpla.
I feel like this is a good step forward in the RE100 line, theyve been pretty lackluster other than the GunEZ. The ditching of the polycaps is a huge plus and I like the articulation on this
what exactly is the re/100 line? the are obviously 1/100 scale, but are they not considered master grade? sorry, I'm still fairly new to gunpla so I just don't know the difference for what these are exactly
19NOTAFOX91 well, the simple explanation i could give is the re 1/100 has hg like quality (better details than hg but not on mg level of details) with 1/100 scale.
@@19NOTAFOX91 RE/100 was originally pitched as kits that would be "too costly" or "not popular enough" to make as a master grade, ignoring that master grade kits of shit like The O, Deep Striker, and 90 different GMs exist. Master grade kits always have an inner frame of some sort so the amount of plastic is greatly increased and the build time is increased as well - and by inner frame, I mean that if you elected not to put the colored armor on, you'd have a fully articulated robot skeleton. RE/100 kits lack such an inner frame, but do show inner machinery where necessary to provide the illusion that they have an inner frame - this is notable at joints and at a lot of locations on the Nightingale. The outer quality is supposed to replicate that of a master grade in terms of armor detail, color separation, and panel lining, which... sometimes isn't quite the case. Since every model kit I have is 1/100 scale, I'm a huge fan of the RE/100 kits and think the only one that's super lackluster is the Nightingale, and only because it's such a hulking behemoth that it doesn't pose well, and has very little in the way of panel lining. The finished product is still impressive on the shelf.
@@19NOTAFOX91 Kit's that didn't make the MG cut because they are not popular enough, too expensive for their eventual cost/demand, or didn't have a 1/100 before. I appreciate the line and actually. Finally some progress with RE100. I feel the line has been stale ever since the Mk III and the Bawoo. Still it is a shame this wasn't a Master Grade and this was always my favourite Zaku so I was hoping for an MG for a long time. Not to mention that Zeon usually doesn't get much love in the MG line since we got this and the Jagd Doga as RE100. I really loved this kit......I'm extremely happy with the improvements they have made recently and I think it's perfect for someone that is looking to move up from the HG line to MG kits.
This is a really nice kit! :) I have the HG 1/144 one, and there was a big lack of articulation in that one. This one has a lot better better articulation, and I can’t help geeking out over how much of an improvement this kit is over the old HG. I never invested in the MG 1/100 version, but to be honest, this kit seems to be a really good balance of size and quality. Plus I just really dig Zakus. :D You’re definitely right about my previous thoughts about the the RE/100 kits. I bought the RE/100 Blaze Zaku Phantom, and was pretty disappointed because it was really just an bigger version of the HG one. This led me to avoid the RE/100 line, however, this kit is a definite improvement for the line, and actually makes me want to give the line another chance. I definitely think I’ll look into picking this kit up. ^u^
I don't really get the benefit of not using polycaps. If the joints are just plastic tensioned against plastic, won't they eventually grind themselves into total looseness?
Quite surprised at how impressive this kit is compared to the other RE/100. This is definitely a step in the right direction, and a worthy companion to the Alex 2.0
It's so heartbreaking that Bandai has lost confidence in RE/100. I'd love to pick this thing up, but it's gonna be a while before another reprint, in all likelihood...
Amazing how good this kit is especially regarding the seam lines (yes the one on the shoulder cap is terrible, but it was actually pretty easy to remove) compared to the Jagd Doga which had seam lines all over the place and like zero articulation.
I share the same opinion about the head. Proportions are off too, but what throws it off even more, imo, is the square (refregirator is a great analogy (?)) torso and the round limbs. Am I mistaken, or has the Zaku 2 a somewhat roundish torso, exept the sides? Guess the structure behind the armour is holow... Maybe rounding off the edge and filling in the gaps created with pla plate and epoxy? To me the legs look wide enough for the torso. What is throwing the proportion off is the stomache section. It shorthens it, thus creating the visual effect of beeing wide. Like mowing the grass makes the tree look taller ( I tells you, manscape, adds an visual inch. Discard for beer bellies (note to future Zach😜)) Maybe mock up someting to make that taller to see if the proportions are more to your liking. Bet you a six pack😅
