  • Out of the 100++ Platycerium collection, there are only 5 Platycerium that I would keep and recommend to all of you to start with. These are easy to grow and fuss-free too. Of course, this is only my own personal preference. You guys can tell me what’s your favorite too!

    Hi Lone! Great selection of yours. Loved your selection.
    I may add one important information about our plants and breeders: there is no Platycerium Celso Tatsuta. CARLOS Tatsuta was the person who brought Platycerium Celso to Asia. He WAS NOT the breeder. Mr Celso was the breeder. Celso and Carlos Tatsuta are not the same person.
    To properly honor this plant and its breeder we shall refer to it as PLATYCERIUM CELSO.
    Platycerium Celso 'Tatsuta' was a misunderstanding that we must clarify.
    Just bringing more color to this story: Mr Celso was a breeder and he was friends to Mr Pedro. They both were extremely good on growing Platycerium back in the 1970s here in Brazil. And they "ran a contest" among them: who would breed the best Platycerium in Brazil. Mr Celso came with Platycerium Celso and Mr Pedro came with Platycerium Pedro. That was it. Mr Carlos Tatsuta was not part of this "contest".
    Cheers mate!

      That’s the real history of these plants. Carlos Tatsuta used to share some pictures putting his name as the author of the picture. Not naming the plant.

    Thank you... I only have nr. 1 (but only as seed, so I have to wait (and hope it's the right seed ;-))

    • @aloneinoasis
      @aloneinoasis  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great you have it now!! But hopefully, the Sporeling (seed) that you have will grow exactly the same like Foongsiqi. But from what we know, the sporeling will not resemble the mother plant ya.

      @@aloneinoasis Thank you, that's indeed my only fear. But I wanted to try to grow some out of seed. But what is the possibility that seeds from hybrids "roll back" to one of the parent plants?

    Nice selection. I’m surprised SSFoong is not in your top 5. 😄

    Hi, I cannot find much information about platycerium surinarium. Can you tell me if they are easy to grow and growth rate. Thanks Jim

      Yes they are! They have the hardy genes from P. coronarium.
