I did enjoy the Get To Work EP, but again, got bored after a couple weeks. I gave up after that. adding more crap isn't making the game more fun or interesting.

EA is the most shameless company in the world. With The Sims 3 Late Night you got butlers, hot tubs, apartments, nightclubs, the celebrity system, a huge metropolis to play in AND vampires. Now you have to buy 2 EPs, 2 SPs and probably 1 Game Pack (if it's true they are planning on releasing a Vampire-themed GP) to get the same amount of content. That means they are selling content that was previously packed together PIECE BY PIECE. If you pay for their products, you're supporting their dirty business practices. Enough said.

The biggest difference is that EPs were content-heavy and they didn't remove life states or major gameplay elements from EPs in order to sell them later on the Store. Yes, the Store had sets that featured specific themes, but that's pretty much what stuff packs are - collections of furniture and CAS items based on one aspect or style of life (for example, the focus of one of them was romantic gardens - seems pretty specific to me). Obviously, stuff packs have a somewhat wider scope, but they also contain more content then a Store set, so one may argue that about 3 Store sets with similar themes (for ex. India bedroom, living room and clothes were 3 separate sets) would constitute one stuff pack, so the contrast is not that stark as you make it seem. With that in mind, we could compare prices of one TS4 stuff pack and a few thematically related sets which would content-wise commensurate with what you'd get in a stuff pack. I get it that you can opt for buying only one of these related sets, or individual items too, but I'm doing this just for the argument's sake, as my initial point was that the prices of TS3 Store sets regarding the content you got seem more egregious then those of TS4 stuff packs. Not to mention, TS4 stuff packs are cheaper than TS3's, and they also include new animations and interactions. Game packs are, I believe, priced the same as TS3 stuff packs, and they feature even more of these new interactions, skills, etc. And no, I was not justifying TS4 stuff packs, merely comparing them to TS3 Store sets (and in this post, TS3 stuff packs). EDIT: Once again, don't get me wrong... I'm not justifying EA's practices of releasing additional content, I just made an observation that a $10 TS4 stuff pack would cost you at least $20, if not $30 if bought in TS3 Store sets.

Butlers should've been a patch. I'm not impressed with the items. They don't really look that "vintage". I was hoping for vintage Victorian looking furniture like Sims 3 had. There's like nothing in this pack.
butlers were always included in some other expansion pack that included other things that added to gameplay. so here, you're paying 10 dollars just to have the option to hire a butler
But we do have maids and gardeners and nannies. A butler just does all those jobs in one. Hell, I thought they already had it in the game because it didn't seem necessary because I had all of them. Couldn't it have been possible for a modder to just make a NP that stayed with you and automatically did stuff around the house like a maid, gardener, and nanny would do?
Don't listen to Zelda Lover. They have no idea what they're talking about. Yes, modders some times have to wait until a certain system is implemented in the core of the game, since, well TS4 is not an open source game you know. They can't really cut it open and see what makes it tick. No to the extend they'd like to. But for most mods, they can work around what the game already has. Heck, one of the first mods for TS4 was the repairman and gardening service waaaaay before The Sims Studio added them to the game.
Zelda Lover Not only you don't know what you're talking about but you also lack basic understanding of what creating a new life stage will entail. Modders do not necessary modify content that already exists, they can also add new content. In TS3, for example, a modder added an apartment system similar to the one in TS2 Apartment Life. Another modder added a Gardener Service when nothing similar exists in TS3. TS3 doesn't have an EP like Get to Work and Zerbu made Turbo Careers and a similar mod to Get to School, etc. I could keep going. The only limits to what a modder can do are things that are part of the core engine of the game AND the amount of time it takes to make script mods. Modders in games like Skyrim have created full games like Enderal using Skyrim as a starting point. That's still modding but it goes beyond just modifying a game. I think your problem is that you don't really understand what modding really is. You think that just because of its name all modders can do is modify... That could not be further from the truth.

I don't blame you. One more stuff pack and The Sims 4 will have more stuff packs released over a shorter timespan than any other Sims game in history. Nine packs in ~24 months.
What's worse is that there are lots of fans that are happy with the little content they are getting. I watched one of their live streams showing off this new stuff pack and in the comments I saw nothing but praise and people wowed by the small puny features. Not once did I see anyone criticize the creators for lack of content. Some were like, "OOOOO lots of shoes!" I was like, "Where are these shoes? What is wrong with you people!!!!"
Tsunade, that's incorrect, it's because EA is being bitch and got 0 mod support for the sole reason of making money off those obscure features. Look at mods for other games that have mod support from devs and can run script extensions (most famously TES and Fallout series, mount and blade) they add completely new features (not reskins etc.) because that's what SE can do (edit game engine and run new scripts). Toddlers could have been added in first week by modders if there was any support from devs.
Randomly-generated. When you hire a butler, it will just create/choose a random townie. The only way I saw to modify them after the fact is using the "testingcheats" command.
What kind of pisses me off the most about it that atleast with the coming of butlers, you would expect an addition of programming in the way the food is distributed..or duh; etiquette. But still the dumb butlers make random hotdog meals or whatever they want and don't clean up after their mess, and all sims have to run around getting their own plate doing that dancing chair game and go eat where-ever they please (so eating in the garden or at the toilet, meh) at what is supposed to be a fancy party for royals, without any option for an actual table setup with all the forks and knives and courses in the right place (even sims 2 had a bloody set up in a way). It is a lazy ass scam is what it is. the butlers do what you could do already with other npcs and people you manipulated through groups and whatevs. And still they fail at it.

The only thing in this pack worth anything is the butler. The rest of the of the content is crap and you could get it for free via custom content, and you'd probably getter better quality items as well.

u can tell Sims 4 was made only for low end PC's in mind. if u have a good pc Sims 3 is infinitely better. I could model furniture with more detail than in Sims 4. everything's made of basic cubes
I dunno man, if you use sims 3 with a framerate limiter it super improves its ability to run 'cause of that whole duplicate frames fiasco. Without it, my game was apparently running at ~ 100 frames (but looked like 25 - 30 with a LOT of cutting), and with it the game runs at a nice and consistent 30. Oh, and it doesn't overheat me. That was the main issue.

I like FPS Limiter 2.0, because you can cap it at whatever you want. Before you use it though- even though this is completely unnecessary- I recommend using the 'show fps' command on TS3 for a second so you can see what you improve from, haha!
Have you tried TS3 on lower settings? Also it really helps just to up your ram if your motherboard has space for it, and trouble shoot the program (I play with NRAAS mods and their creator uses the tagline 'Preventing the Sims series from being a doorstopper for X years' because they cut back on a LOT of the bad coding in TS3) and the game becomes infinitely more playable using them. For example I use their story progression mod instead of EA's and I have a non-corrupted savegame that's number 565 right now (I'm on my fifth sims generation of playing an entire town without corruption). I don't travel with that save though although NRAAS does also make a traveler mod I didn't want to bloat the save file. It also greatly helps to turn off memories in that game if you have Generations and to run the overwatch mod if you have pets (they get stuck everywhere).
Kate Marsh if anything, the overlocking issue was made worse with higher end gear- at least, that's what I heard. If you had more power, it would push you harder.
Your opening scene was more interesting and entertaining than the actual sims 4 pack because sims 4 is so so terrible. I just need sims 5 well done and created for single player audience from the start not a failed multiplayer project which we are stuck with right now.
Originally it was designed by EA's Maxis to be a online project similar to simscity online. But simcity online was such a failure one of the biggest failure in PC gaming history, EA quickly removed all online features from sims 4 and turned already working online project into offline project. The graphics tell alot of the story for me, the sims 4 graphics are the prototypical mmo cartoony graphics which alot of mainstream successful mmo's on the current market use. Its why the game feels empty, bland, limited, etc. compared too previous launch day titles in their own era. Sims 3 was big step forward from sims 2, just like sims 2 was from sims 1... but sims 4 was a step back but that's because it was stripped of its key focus before launch, its key focus was set to be online... but as I said after maxis screwed up simcity online and of course fans already in majority didn't want sims 4 to be online, EA instead of destroying the project of sims 4 and building a proper single player game from scratch they turned a online game into a offline single player game. This is true, I strongly followed the development of both simcity and sims 4 right up to launch and after... I use to be major Maxis fan until late.
We deserve ever better than The sims 5 by EA. We need to destroy EA evil and forever money hungry overlord (and cheap as f*) with The Sims's Cities Skylines (if you don't know Cities Skylines, it's a great Simcity spiritual successor). A sims like spiritual successor, that every sims fan are dreaming for years. Truth is that EA is killing their another Maxis's goose that laid the golden eggs.

I mean it doesn't crash like sims1&2 did on my crappy pc when I was a kid. So that's nice. And the sims don't look like potatoes like in sims 3 - I couldn't play sims during this time, but seriously how did ppl play with sims that ugly?! But I'd love for it to be more like a non-crashing version of sims1&2 with all the originality of sims 1/2. And stuff packs that weren't literally moneygrabbing. That said, I love it, it's just not the best, and I'm aware I mainly love it bc I'm getting games on sale and I inherited my pc for free and I'm comparing it to memories of crashing sims games. But like compare some of the DLC to Superstar and Making Magic and :o I mean are they going to make Making Magic into 5 game packs worth? That said, modders seem to have done a good job of some magic stuff.
It looks like a lot of the stuff in this pack is actually more modern-styled rather than vintage. All the sharp angles and minimalism don't match the ornate and intricate designs I think of when I imagine high-class styles of the early 20th century.

Emily Miller Really? Personally I loved each expansion and when people ask me about the game I always recommend getting them over the others. (especially GTW and GT) The restaurant pack was nice but hard. I never used outdoor retreat other than for Cas purposes. But you nailed the one cool item aspect. (the butler got me on this) But every pack I own ( all of them) is only for CAS purposes and some build mode. City Living was cool but I prefer houses over apartments so yeah.
Sedd Well, maybe it's just me. I've only got the first two expansions, and while they were fun at first, they just don't really suit my play style, I guess. GTW is alright I guess, but the loading screens can be a real killer with the detective career, and the three jobs aren't really quite as various as I would've liked. GT definitely isn't a major one for me, because I've never been particularly good at managing my sims' social lives. But at least someone likes them.
Emily Miller. I understand. Like I said I lt really boils down to why you get each pack and what type of player you are. I'm sorry about the load screens my laptop is very fast so the longest load is maybe 20 seconds. I'm not major into the clubs I just like going to new worlds. They did a really great job on Windenburg as its own stand alone world. But seeing you have GTW and GT you are pretty well off with the game. City Living isn't necessarily a must have but I do recommend it ad your next pack if you decide to invest more money.

I honestly liked this stuff pack a lot. Every piece of furniture in the pack I've used quite a bit. The only thing I feel was lacking is the CAS options.
Why didn't they just call this the Sims rebooted instead of The Sims 4. Its the 4th game, but its really just the sims 1 with today's graphics at the end of the day.

Butlers should've been a patch. I'm not impressed with the items. They don't really look that "vintage". I was hoping for vintage Victorian looking furniture like Sims 3 had. There's like nothing in this pack.

Couldn't it have been possible for a modder to just make a NP that stayed with you and automatically did stuff around the house like a maid, gardener, and nanny would do?
Don't listen to Zelda Lover. They have no idea what they're talking about. Yes, modders some times have to wait until a certain system is implemented in the core of the game, since, well TS4 is not an open source game you know. They can't really cut it open and see what makes it tick. No to the extend they'd like to. But for most mods, they can work around what the game already has. Heck, one of the first mods for TS4 was the repairman and gardening service waaaaay before The Sims Studio added them to the game.
Zelda Lover Not only you don't know what you're talking about but you also lack basic understanding of what creating a new life stage will entail. Modders do not necessary modify content that already exists, they can also add new content. In TS3, for example, a modder added an apartment system similar to the one in TS2 Apartment Life. Another modder added a Gardener Service when nothing similar exists in TS3. TS3 doesn't have an EP like Get to Work and Zerbu made Turbo Careers and a similar mod to Get to School, etc. I could keep going. The only limits to what a modder can do are things that are part of the core engine of the game AND the amount of time it takes to make script mods. Modders in games like Skyrim have created full games like Enderal using Skyrim as a starting point. That's still modding but it goes beyond just modifying a game.
I think your problem is that you don't really understand what modding really is. You think that just because of its name all modders can do is modify... That could not be further from the truth.

What's worse is that there are lots of fans that are happy with the little content they are getting. I watched one of their live streams showing off this new stuff pack and in the comments I saw nothing but praise and people wowed by the small puny features. Not once did I see anyone criticize the creators for lack of content. Some were like, "OOOOO lots of shoes!" I was like, "Where are these shoes? What is wrong with you people!!!!"
Yep, there's a lot of them out there. It's likely a few of them get a free copy of every stuff and game pack and aren't inclined to criticize EA.

Tsunade, that's incorrect, it's because EA is being bitch and got 0 mod support for the sole reason of making money off those obscure features. Look at mods for other games that have mod support from devs and can run script extensions (most famously TES and Fallout series, mount and blade) they add completely new features (not reskins etc.) because that's what SE can do (edit game engine and run new scripts). Toddlers could have been added in first week by modders if there was any support from devs.

Randomly-generated. When you hire a butler, it will just create/choose a random townie. The only way I saw to modify them after the fact is using the "testingcheats" command.

What kind of pisses me off the most about it that atleast with the coming of butlers, you would expect an addition of programming in the way the food is distributed..or duh; etiquette. But still the dumb butlers make random hotdog meals or whatever they want and don't clean up after their mess, and all sims have to run around getting their own plate doing that dancing chair game and go eat where-ever they please (so eating in the garden or at the toilet, meh) at what is supposed to be a fancy party for royals, without any option for an actual table setup with all the forks and knives and courses in the right place (even sims 2 had a bloody set up in a way). It is a lazy ass scam is what it is. the butlers do what you could do already with other npcs and people you manipulated through groups and whatevs. And still they fail at it.

Just giving the command 'make meal' or 'make party meal', and then the butler just randomly makes spaghetti or hotdogs or whatevs, or even bugs out and makes a meal for himself LOL. But anyone can disprove me, anyone who actually bought the game XD.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say LGR is slightly disinterested in this pack.

The only thing in this pack worth anything is the butler. The rest of the of the content is crap and you could get it for free via custom content, and you'd probably getter better quality items as well.

u can tell Sims 4 was made only for low end PC's in mind. if u have a good pc Sims 3 is infinitely better. I could model furniture with more detail than in Sims 4. everything's made of basic cubes
I dunno man, if you use sims 3 with a framerate limiter it super improves its ability to run 'cause of that whole duplicate frames fiasco. Without it, my game was apparently running at ~ 100 frames (but looked like 25 - 30 with a LOT of cutting), and with it the game runs at a nice and consistent 30. Oh, and it doesn't overheat me. That was the main issue.

I like FPS Limiter 2.0, because you can cap it at whatever you want. Before you use it though- even though this is completely unnecessary- I recommend using the 'show fps' command on TS3 for a second so you can see what you improve from, haha!
Have you tried TS3 on lower settings? Also it really helps just to up your ram if your motherboard has space for it, and trouble shoot the program (I play with NRAAS mods and their creator uses the tagline 'Preventing the Sims series from being a doorstopper for X years' because they cut back on a LOT of the bad coding in TS3) and the game becomes infinitely more playable using them. For example I use their story progression mod instead of EA's and I have a non-corrupted savegame that's number 565 right now (I'm on my fifth sims generation of playing an entire town without corruption). I don't travel with that save though although NRAAS does also make a traveler mod I didn't want to bloat the save file. It also greatly helps to turn off memories in that game if you have Generations and to run the overwatch mod if you have pets (they get stuck everywhere).
Kate Marsh if anything, the overlocking issue was made worse with higher end gear- at least, that's what I heard. If you had more power, it would push you harder.
By the time TS4 is over, we'll probably have at least 50 stuff packs. SMH

Your opening scene was more interesting and entertaining than the actual sims 4 pack because sims 4 is so so terrible. I just need sims 5 well done and created for single player audience from the start not a failed multiplayer project which we are stuck with right now.

Originally it was designed by EA's Maxis to be a online project similar to simscity online. But simcity online was such a failure one of the biggest failure in PC gaming history, EA quickly removed all online features from sims 4 and turned already working online project into offline project. The graphics tell alot of the story for me, the sims 4 graphics are the prototypical mmo cartoony graphics which alot of mainstream successful mmo's on the current market use. Its why the game feels empty, bland, limited, etc. compared too previous launch day titles in their own era. Sims 3 was big step forward from sims 2, just like sims 2 was from sims 1... but sims 4 was a step back but that's because it was stripped of its key focus before launch, its key focus was set to be online... but as I said after maxis screwed up simcity online and of course fans already in majority didn't want sims 4 to be online, EA instead of destroying the project of sims 4 and building a proper single player game from scratch they turned a online game into a offline single player game. This is true, I strongly followed the development of both simcity and sims 4 right up to launch and after... I use to be major Maxis fan until late.
We deserve ever better than The sims 5 by EA. We need to destroy EA evil and forever money hungry overlord (and cheap as f*) with The Sims's Cities Skylines (if you don't know Cities Skylines, it's a great Simcity spiritual successor). A sims like spiritual successor, that every sims fan are dreaming for years. Truth is that EA is killing their another Maxis's goose that laid the golden eggs.

I hear everyone's complaints but, gosh dang it, I love The Sims 4. My favorite in the series by far.

I mean it doesn't crash like sims1&2 did on my crappy pc when I was a kid. So that's nice. And the sims don't look like potatoes like in sims 3 - I couldn't play sims during this time, but seriously how did ppl play with sims that ugly?!
But I'd love for it to be more like a non-crashing version of sims1&2 with all the originality of sims 1/2. And stuff packs that weren't literally moneygrabbing. That said, I love it, it's just not the best, and I'm aware I mainly love it bc I'm getting games on sale and I inherited my pc for free and I'm comparing it to memories of crashing sims games.
But like compare some of the DLC to Superstar and Making Magic and :o I mean are they going to make Making Magic into 5 game packs worth? That said, modders seem to have done a good job of some magic stuff.

You do the best reviews ever! I know the Sims games are never gonna please you or me. But your reviews give e life! Hahaha
It looks like a lot of the stuff in this pack is actually more modern-styled rather than vintage. All the sharp angles and minimalism don't match the ornate and intricate designs I think of when I imagine high-class styles of the early 20th century.

Emily Miller Really? Personally I loved each expansion and when people ask me about the game I always recommend getting them over the others. (especially GTW and GT) The restaurant pack was nice but hard. I never used outdoor retreat other than for Cas purposes. But you nailed the one cool item aspect. (the butler got me on this) But every pack I own ( all of them) is only for CAS purposes and some build mode.
City Living was cool but I prefer houses over apartments so yeah.
Sedd Well, maybe it's just me. I've only got the first two expansions, and while they were fun at first, they just don't really suit my play style, I guess. GTW is alright I guess, but the loading screens can be a real killer with the detective career, and the three jobs aren't really quite as various as I would've liked. GT definitely isn't a major one for me, because I've never been particularly good at managing my sims' social lives. But at least someone likes them.
Emily Miller. I understand. Like I said I lt really boils down to why you get each pack and what type of player you are. I'm sorry about the load screens my laptop is very fast so the longest load is maybe 20 seconds.
I'm not major into the clubs I just like going to new worlds. They did a really great job on Windenburg as its own stand alone world. But seeing you have GTW and GT you are pretty well off with the game. City Living isn't necessarily a must have but I do recommend it ad your next pack if you decide to invest more money.
