Coming from someone who has gone to Papa's with my family and has been served by Nick personally for decades, it is truly the best pizza I've ever eaten and the taste has remained consistent to this day. It opened in Chambersburg, Trenton or the "Burg", which is where Robbinsburg comes from, and it is definitely a bucket list place for any pizza lover. You can tell they have such pride and passion for their pizza and it shows.
Same here best pie ever growing up in the Berg was amazing not the same now but always loved the mustard pie

I live like 10 minutes from there. Both Papas and Delorenzos are worth the trip, best pizza in America.

That crunch on Big Mike's pie sounded like it was made by a professional sound engineer in a studio, not by biting into food out on the streets.

i live about an hour from this place, but just tried it today because i had a job not too far from it in Trenton. It's definitely different than what i'm used to, the tomatoes are the star of the show of course, but the pie was exactly like he described, light and crispy and when u bite into it, it stays together and doesn't fall apart. I was a pig and ate it right in the parking lot like he does. It's delicious and i would recommend it strongly. Need to try DiLorenzo's too!
There is an undeniable sense of well being I get from watching these reviews. I hope I can get out to the east coast sometime to try a few of these places.
If you folks ever get a chance to go to Papa's I highly recommend trying their mustard pie too. Sounds weird but it's amazing. Plus their red cream soda on tap is great.

Even when I make homemade pizza from scratch... I take 1 bite and give it a score... No trash pizza in this house haha. Love the vids Dave and Frankie.

I drive regularly from Maryland to New Hampshire and back with my wife to see our kids in College. We've picked off most all of Dave's top rated places, some multiple times. We just hit Papa's again (third time). Man, this place is ridiculously good. Thin, crispy, perfect cheese blend (guessing it's a blend). We always get one plain cheese, we've tried their Mustard Pie (don't knock it until you try it, good as hell), and this past time tried their "Italian Stallion" white pie, topped with sausage, broccoli rabe, and garlic. It was fantastic.
9.1 is the real score, everybody knows the rules.
Living in California for 50 years, I can say that the best pizzas out here are like average pizzas back east. You guys have it good in that department.
Same although I've been out west for a shorter, I do miss good pizza and bagels. NYC water makes the difference in the crust and a California tomato is nothing like a jersey tomato

I've had 3 different 9's (Difara, Sallys,Pizza Regina... as well has Halftime Pizza if you count that lol), and that second pizza he gave you looked equal to or better than any of them! The crunch was unreal!

I used to work at Amazon in Robbinsville. There was nothing but cornfields and it was 2 hours away from North Jersey where I lived. I couldn't handle the commute. Now I going back down there cause that pizza looked spectacular.

I've been making pizza from scratch at home for 20 years, and there is no question that cooking a pizza VERY well-done, so the cheese is deeply brown, is the best. My go-to pizza place in Cincinnati ---- I request that they make it well-done, and it is so much better that way.
I really don’t like it that way. I want the cheese fully melted with orange/brown spots throughout… meaning it’s just starting to hit “well done”. Otherwise you lose the flavour of the cheese.
@@intellivisionmaster7999 To me it tastes more "gourmet" to have the cheese strongly browned. It's richer. But, I do understand where you're coming from. The place I get pizza, occasionally they brown it so much that some cheese will get black on the edges, and they offer to redo it, but I prefer it that way.

I've been to both places. Angelo's is legit awesome. So is Papa's. And so is DeLorenzo's (which should be reviewed shortly). The Trenton-style tomato pie is just a different style. I like DeLorenzo's the best.
Angelo’s is good I tried it but papa’s is a lot better... I thought Angelo’s was good but didn’t think it was worth a 9... delorenzos is better then both of them tho... been eating that pie since I was a little kid when they were in Trenton .

Saw big hearted Mike 3 nights ago. We said hello n happy New Year! New glasses. Mustard pie rocked as did the margarita. Manicotti dinner was out of this world with manicotti that tasted like the pasta was made in store. Meatball parm sandwich also was very good and don’t forget the bruschetta; like no other. 9.3 🍕

I’ve had all the NJ pizzas on the top of your list and for me the Tomato Pie from Papa’s is the best of those. Most flavor for me. My favorite pizza parlor pizza is Mancini in East Brunswick.

That looks like the style I prefer. It just looks fresh. I had a pizza like that in a small pizza place in a small town in Italy, and everything just tasted like it came straight from the farm. And surprisingly cheap.
But I would like to try the style he praises at its best.

Papa's used to be in Chambersburg, NJ, which is where I used to get Papa's tomato pies. I prefer De Lorenzo's by a small margin, but Papa's was amazing. They both drizzle good olive oil on the pies, which makes them even better.

Did Dave try the Mustard Pie? It's very popular in that area and is a local delicacy. I never tried it so I can't say but have had a regular cheese, sausage n mushroom and a pepperoni it was great. Worth a trip for sure.

Second pizza, every bite was a crispy delight. Dave I am going to Fredi's The Pizzaman in Melvindale MI this afternoon, which i have driven past for years without discovering their pie, I live 4.5 miles from his pie factory, I am a pizza loven fool.

Grew up in Chambersburg, home of Papa's and DeLorenzo's(both of them). Papa's was always my favorite. All 3 are fantastic.
I would recommend getting it extra crispy.
