I went to try this pizza today because of how many people raved about it. My expectations were extremely high. I can proudly say that this was the best pie I’ve ever tasted. Best pizza in the state probably the country.
It does live up to the hype
Trenton IS THE best tomato pie in the country !!!
ahh after three years too! Boom. Go Pres Go.
It’s really good but certainly not the best in the country imo but worthy of the 9+ rating for sure.
@@coryt93 if it’s a 9.2 to pres, then this definitely could be the best pizza in the country to some people. Taste is subjective
the reason the pizza got such a high score is precisely because they put the sauce on top. Low moisture mozzarella on dough won't cause it to sag and the mozz will serve as a layer to keep the moisture from the sauce penetrating to the dough. This is the reason their pie is so crispy.
It also has to do with the actual dough used for the crust. It’s not your standard pizza dough.
@@c0nc3ntr8d6 what kind of dough is it?
You two are both correct
@@tailoredfitnessatl5044jersey and nyc got the best water for dough apparently.
@@garrettchapman8170 so which dough do they make?
"9.2"
"Alright."
@Onyx Being named Kayne Dewhurst? Ya thats a rough one
That's cause it was a 10.2
9.2 FeelsBadMan
Funny when owners get somewhat insuted when they dont get a ten.
Lmao
I’ve been going to DeLorenzo’s since I was a little kid, and it is by far the best pizza I’ve ever had. It’s the best pizza in the state and you can’t convince me otherwise. Glad Prez gave it the respect it deserves.
Best pizza I've ever had, and I'm including John's on Bleeker St and New Haven. I get it with sausage which IMO what makes it the best. Plain pie you can pick from any of the big ones and be satisfied, but the sausage combined with the freshness, and especially that crisp, just an amazing pie. Never a time when I didn't finish it myself, and I'm not a big guy or a big eater.
If you give above a 9 then Frankie should have to confirm the score. Come on Dave, you know the rules.
Frankie likes Sicilian style better....he only confirms when they get that kind of pizza.
I agree ☝️
I'm with ya man! Frankie should have to review every single 9 or higher, just to give it even more authenticity!
Anyone who has been to De Lorenzo's can confirm the score. The place is amazing. Papa's is also phenomenal.
frankie's own spot is trash tho
They will know what a 9.2 means when the line is out the door
Security Officer lines always been out the door, I live there
I’ve seen people lined up there at like 11 o’clock on a Tuesday
Trust me, when they were on Hudson St in Trenton, and even now, they take the phones off the hook on alot of nights because they're too busy to pick up carry out orders. You have to go there in person to order it.
On a Friday or Saturday night, people would be outside with umbrellas in the rain waiting to get a table.
They're always been well known to everyone in Jersey. This is why he said a million people told him to go there. People from the area are all buying from De Lorenzos. Tourists going to try a pizza is not going to make a huge difference for them.
Yo cuzz the lines been down the block since Trenton make 🌎 Take Im from Philadelphia and have no problem saying best pie in the country hands down 🙏🏻 love ittttt bo
When he went for a second slice I knew it was a 9+
Yeah, how often do you see that???
haha true
Also he didn't even bite the crust half way through. Super rare.
SAME dude he was really digging it
ive seen him eat 2 slices without saying anything and then give it somewhere in the 7's.. it might have been sciorntinos i cant remember
That crunch has to be one of the most satisfying sounds in culinary history.
Exactly. You can just listen to this review and know it's a good Pizza.. Holy fuck!
Holy hell that pizza is so crispy, makes me hungry.
I walk there every day and yes, it’s worth it
My wife and I were just wondering if you were still hungry?
1:24, damn pizza even has ANTI flop with that whip action. 10/10 still held together
Impossible to reach a 10, everyone knows the rules
@@Domoftheyear As it should be.
I'm OK with some flop, as long as the crust has the right feel, though I do hate to have the cheese fall off the end and leave just the dough near the tip.
@@Domoftheyear 9.2 in Dave's scale is like 11/10 in normal scale :P You won't see 9s in Dave's scoring lately :)

HAAHAHAHAHA
My dad delivered DeLorenzo kids and grandkids at Helene Fuld. EVEN in the early 80s weekends we couldn't get in the door using pop's cred. The "burg location was a stone cold sellout and that pizza has never been rivaled. Literally a top 10 pizza in the US. And the clam pizza...HOLY SHIT! Glad to see this score! Makes me miss home!
They dont even realize he just increased their business 100x
I use to live in NJ and lived 10 mins from it. That place is legendary... the funny thing is they don't need the business. They have 2 hour waits on a Wednesday and if it gets too crazy they take the phone off the hook so people can't call in pies. It's otherworldly...
They don't need his..they are legends.....
Keith Tuskey yea because of pizza reviews
Eric Liestoh no they dont they just started coming becuase of this

About time they got the recognition. Easily a top 10 pizza in the country.
In the country? Damn.

I’m from this area and this pizza is amazing. If you’re every in the area u gotta go there. It slaps
@@chaseblunt495 Cali pizza is a disgrace
This pizza used to have people waiting outside in the cold, for an hour, in (what became) a sketchy neighborhood. That's back when they were in Trenton (from around the1930's-2012ish). And honestly, it was even better back then (at the old Trenton locations). Was always worth the wait. And the atmosphere had such an intense buzz on those busy nights. Was just one of those great moments in time..Seriously their pizza's are as good as you'll find anywhere! There are two locations and both are equally amazing. Those pies are so light, you can go through one real easy!
Where in Trenton was the Og spot? I had a shitty sales job and was in the middle of Trenton knocking on doors Lolol. Thank god I’m done that
It was down hamilton Ave. A minutes or so from the arena.

Many years ago I ate at the original one in Trenton. Hands down the best pizza I ever had. I am from NYC and have eaten at John's and many of the places the pres has reviewed.
F New York their Pizza sucks !!!
I am 50 and was raised on Pepe's of New Haven (where my folks were born). That crust looks and sounds amazing.
Yup!
He did Sally's, Modern, and Pepes. Sally's getting a 9.3 I believe?
This was my father's favorite back in their original location! Glad to see it's still around!
One lady staring out the window, everybody knows "Frankie" is trying to get her out of the shot
Vices & Madonna Is that Borelli
Hey Prez! Mario's House Pizza is calling your name. They make the ABSOLUTE BEST PIZZA.
I've been hitting up pizza joints pretty much between Philly and Boston, trying all of Dave's best spots, and DeLorenzo's is still my favorite. Sally's is a close #2, but the combination of freshness and crisp, the two things I value most, that makes DeLorenzo's so good.
And Dave could've left it in the box for an hour, that pizza ain't flopping. And it's not like the crust is hard or anything, no clue how they do it and why nobody else can, but even the middle slices don't flop. Sensational pizza plus the service and cleanliness is impeccable.
One case of hoodie and vest, everybody knows Pres’ female jacket is going to make an appearance soon.
Not original but still funny
Iam guessing he is going to switch it up and have a white fur this year 🤣😂

Pres has changed the game bringing pizza shops around the world into your home. I've used one bite ranking at least 10 times trying out pizza across the country.
You never see Dave chow down the whole slice like that, AND GRAB ANOTHER ONE!!! He LOVES this one.
"Frankie, Cya!"
Love when Frankie gets the love too.

Took your advice and went today. Not far off 95 so not an issue. Bro you are 100% on the money ate it in. We went in at 1:40 not realizing they close at 2pm for a few hours. You would think they would freak out getting there so late. Hell no staff great and the pies? Yeah on the money. Bought 2 to go on top of it for my family in Delaware.
I used to eat at De Lorenzo's near Trenton, NJ frequently. Nothing ever came close. Long lines out even in the winter.
I was there many times and there literally was a line out the door ever time I went.
@@dcscott100 Awesome! I worked for the State downtown and it was within a few minutes walking distance. A rare treat. THe Robbinssville location carries the family tradition forward. Yumm.
Haven’t seen steam come off a pie like that since home alone 2
Davie this is my favorite pizza place in my area. I’m so glad you were able to partake, those tomato pies are works of genius!
Great to see your review David. Really great to see a quality Pizza that’s right up “your alley”.
Love seeing how much pride they had in their work.
First time I went to DeLorenzo's with my family, we couldn't decide what toppings to get so we ordered a few different ones and planned to take the leftovers home. There were no leftovers.
There’s something about how he takes that final bite & chucks the slice back in the box that keeps me coming back 😅
My favorite pizza place. The line is always out the door . It’s been like that for years

This is by far one of the best pizzas in the country. They deserve it.
Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. Very famous and worth it.
De Lorenzo's used to be located in one side of a duplex in Chambersburg, NJ. There was always a long line outside waiting to get in (oddly, they didn't have a restroom - they slid under the grandfather cutoff date for legally required bathrooms). Back then, it was the best pizza (tomato pie) I ever had. Papa's was also in Chambersburg, and was equal in quality to De Lorenzo's. These are truly tomato pies, not pizzas.
They’re truly pizza
every single bite crunches, that is one amazing sounding and lookin pie. WoW i wish

tremendous, because it’s true.
De Lorenzo’s comes from Chambersburg (was mostly an Italian town in Trenton a while back). Papas also comes from there hence the Robbinsburg sign they have. Not only did the Burg have some of the best pizza, they had some of the best food in general. I wish he did other reviews so he could go to Rossi’s burgers.
My 4th or 5th grade teacher worked at Rossi's and my church is right across the street. Can you tell I grew up in Hamilton?
Like all of the other Italian joints in "The Burg", Rossi's is gone also. Moved to the burbs also.
Gen Z Italians moved out too the burbs and took all the good food and times with them.
Live in California for past 18 years but grew up in Bordentown. My mom used to take me to the 'Burg for dinner whenever we could. I think we used to go to a place called Penny's but I'm not sure because it's been so long. Seeing these reviews from area spots makes me miss home, and whenever I get to go home I eat pizza damn near every day.
@@phillyfansuffererI'm visiting my parents in Freehold, NJ for Christmas, and yeah, I've literally had pizza so far every night ... Yesterday I ditched the whole family and lied about going to CVS, detoured to Federici's and wolfed down a small pie my myself ... It's so good!!
He occasionally reviews cheesesteaks and roast beef sandwiches
Happy to see you guys finally made it to Tomato Pie country here in Jersey. IMHO in the top 5 of all pizza areas in the country along with DUMBO, Wooster St. in New Haven, and downtown Manhattan. May I recommend Razza and Porto in downtown Jersey City on your next venture here,.......BTW you were not too far from DannyBoyCane territory when you ere out in Robbinsville....Danny's from Dunellen. NJ and touted a place called Roma Pizza there......very good, not great....will remind you a bit of Santillo's without the crunch......glad you enjoyed Jersey!
I've been eating at De Lorenzo's for decades and yes the best Tomato Pie on Earth! The green peppers are a favorite topping very sweet. I want one NOW!
Unless one doesn’t appreciate a Neapolitan style pie, or has never actually been to DeLorenzos, it’s best to not pass judgement. This is authentic tomatoe pie. There’s a distinct difference from other “pizza”. Anyone who’s been there appreciates the pies for what they are. If one wants “pizza”, there are hundreds of such places within 20 miles.
Lived around the corner from the small original location on Hudson St. which was always packed. The owners Gary and Eileen were always welcoming, and it was well known well before any internet newbie reviewers, no offense.
It was sad to see them relocate to Robbinsville, but anyone who knows Trenton understands.
The reason their staff isn’t initially all jacked is because they expect and know their pies (we don’t call it pizza!) are amongst the best anywhere. The pepperoni is off the chain; thick cut and spicy. The sauce is perfect- more crushed than puree, and they always drizzle great olive oil on it. It’s easy to eat an entire pie solo, crust and all.
The comment about their biz increasing 100x due to a review is presumptuous. They don’t need reviews. In fact, one has to wonder what took so long for Dave to go there?! 🤔
Some of the comments on this thread are borderline absurd and would qualify as troll bait.
They don't even realize he just gave this show legitimacy (by finally going there). Obviously, they don't need the notorioty, but I'm sure it's appreciated none the less. There is no match for DeLo's, and there will never be. It's simply the best!!
I love the genuine conversation from the glasses to the mouth guy but his face is grumpy as hell 😂😂😂😂 even when he sounded like a nice fella.
Not sure if it was timed or not but at 2:55 Dave is calculating the score and gives a look at the restaurant. There is a bell that goes off and that might be one of the greatest cinematographic moments I’ve ever seen
Oh yeah. 9.2 is MONSTER score from the Prez.

They have one in Levittown PA. Was there few years ago. It is very good.
I love how happy people get when they know their pies are the best
DeLo's is 2nd on my list of greatest pizza places ever with Papa's as my #1. NJ definitely has some of the best pizza places in the world, imho, as an NJ native, pizza lover, and someone who's lived around the country. I also am highly partial to the tomato pie!

Rookie move! You gotta have Frankie confirm anything over a 9 😉
That pizza sounds FANTASTIC
WOW 9.2 that must be really really good pizza. From all of the videos I watched this is the highest score i have seen.
I wish we had pizza joints like this in the UK
we have fucking nothing good here, its shit
Yeah no kidding! The closest thing we have to something authentic is Neapolitan which as Dave himself once said, you can't do much with.
Dude you hit three great pizza places back to back. What a good streak. I’ll hit ‘em up next time I’m doing a philly trip.
Wasn’t expecting that Bill Belichick sighting at the end. He looks good in a jeff cap
that crunch... wow, glad I have an account in Ewing NJ now, this will be my next stop... I kind of liked the weird vibe of Papa Joes and this looked fancy outside... but man that looks awesome
This is one review I can get behind. DeLorenzo’s has always been one of my top choices.

The crunch alone is amazing
Tbh I don’t like crispy pizza dough so I already know I’d never give that pizza a high score but I still really like seeing a pizza get above a 9 lol
The owner almost sounded disappointed!! Hilarious. I had a feeling this might be in the nines.

Dave: “9.2!!! Amazing one of the highest ever!
Pizza guy: “cool I guess…”
He needs to roll with an entourage that knows his scale so the owners/employees who aren’t familiar with it can see their reaction and know how good/bad it was. They would have gone nuts for a 9.2 lol
Had the pleasure of eating at the Trenton location 10-11 years ago. Was a great experience and a great energy in the place
The fact they were clueless about how great a 9.2 is !! 😭😭😭
Bringing joy to a small business is a wonderful thing. I don't think I've ever seen Davey scarf up two pieces like that. Holy samoley.
This was a good pie that lived up to the one-bite hype. Tasty ingredients, ample cheese and fresh tasting tomato's made this one of the best thin crust pie's I've had.If you don't like the char ask for it to be lightly cooked, mine was perfect but I did see one come out that was a little blackened shall we say.
Every time he does a review and the pizza actually makes a crisp sound from the bite….man I want it
One bite, everybody knows you just have to give Dave a semi-burned pizza to get in to the high eights
True!but I am guilty of the same.I like it thin and burnt.Just like my women!
Dave is becoming predictable. He only cares how crunchy a pizza is nowadays.
@@Spookyaki1 Angelo's in Philly, earlier in the day isn't a crisp or tavern style pizza. He seems to go for traditional thin NY style, thin and crispy bar style, and to a degree, brick oven style. Yes, he likes crispy, but the only thing predictable is that he doesn't like thick crust, pan style, Chicago style. I wouldn't say crunch is all he cares about.
This is my favorite review, I love the family coming out.
Really is a great pizza. When we lived in Jersey we'd go there and knock a couple pies out easily. The fact they are light and crisp and not 'loaded' down. You walk away feeling good!
Lived in Trenton/Hamilton all my life. My dad used to bring me to Delorenzos when they were on Hudson St, pictures of Jackie Gleason and other famous people coming to Trenton just for this tomato pie. Best pizza around. I'd put it up against any pizza place in NY, Chicago, or anywhere else.
