DAN HURD ... I can't have runoff go to the river ... can I run secondary pumps pulling runoff to a natural tailing pond away from the river ... or maybe there's more rules ????? How far could I go with equipment ???
Your spray bar was shooting downward I spray the pile off to the side at 8:00 o’clock washing the rocks that flow to the side of the tumbling drum, this cleans the rocks fully. Also I bring black plastic, I dig a big hole hold the dirt to the side and line the hole with the black plastic making a larger then the little tub you were using this way a sandal drop to the bottom of the hole lined with the plastic and filled with water. Your water will run cleaner and then this won’t fill up your grooves in your gold cube allowing more gold to stick instead of flow out, gold cube product really works good I use it on the beach sands here in Washington state up by the Strait of Juan de Fuca. I pull an ounce and a half a day I hope you find a Lotta gold good luck.
So the high banker/gold cube and other sluice devices require a moving water source and a rippled obstacle to catch heavy gold. This requires a device, attendance and a water source. So my question is simply can a structure be built to naturally and efficiently do the same?" You have a 24/7 water source that moves across naturally occurring land. Is it possible to do that artificially and efficiently with a passive device?
Another great video Dan. Thanks. Are you planning on going thru the bigger tailings that came out of the trommel? From watching your other videos it seems like there is bigger pieces than 1/8 inch to be found on the Fraser River that you could potentially be losing. I know you know what you're doing though. I am a big fan of your channel! Peace!
We’d like to come up there and run our trommel. We use a 45 gallon trough to recirculate with it in Montana on our gold claim, we wish our ground was that rich. Great video. Thank you for sharing
How bad does muddy water affect gold separation in that thing? i would think that there has to be a decrease in function as that water gets dirtier and dirtier.
I don't think that's much of an issue since its just the golds weight causing the dropout. Notice in the tub most of the *really* heavy stuff drops to the bottom and his pump is near the top ensuring the water stays relatively clean.
Which do you like better over all? Gold cube or high banker? Taking in account all thing equal. Thanks for the extra effort sharing this hobby with us.

Dan, I have the same equipment, but have only brought buckets of dirt to the house, where I can use AC transformers. What do you use for a 12V power for the trommel motor and the pump on the river?
