I've had to send several dogs to the shelter to free up more "try for baby" space. This would have made me upset, except I really don't find the pets in sims 4 that interesting. Even with the mod to control pets, they're really just a nuisance.

I recreated my kitty (had to put her down in April from worsening kidney disease), I was so happy but I haven’t been able to play with her yet because I’m not sure if I can take it

Sorry for your loss LGR. I had a cat for 18 years I was super attached too and I was heart broken when he passed. That was 7 years ago and i still think about him from time to time.
Yeah. My 18-year-old cat, Claude, died two months ago, and he was pretty much the exact same age as me. Much to my mother's dislike at the time, he made one of his first appearances at my first birthday and then decided to adopt us. Time to go make him in the Sims 3 :,)

It's such a shame that The Sims 4 has such potential and they only release such few little content. There could be so many ideas like car racing, farms, amusement parks and we just keep getting the same expansion packs with less content.

I was kinda-ish waiting for this pack, but then the price in Brazil jumped from the usual 79,90 BRL for expansions to fucking 149,90 BRL!!1! To add insult to injury, the pack was actually being sold at the regular 79,90 in pre order.
I hope EA go down in flames, specially now with the Battlefront 2 lootboxes fiasco.

Looking at a converter to usd, since that's what I use 149 BRL comes to USD$47 I am curious, and I mean absolutely no offense, to when BRL becomes too expensive for day to day things there?

Clint I have so much more respect for you, knowing that it takes this long for you to gather all your information for your reviews. I never would've known if it wasn't for the whole code thing. I can definitely respect your opinion alot more when it comes to these packs.
Your closing comments about your childhood cat resonates with me. A year ago, I've gone through a nasty breakup and the Sims helped me cope with the aftermath. The Sims has always been a comforting and important series to me. Thanks Clint for the review and I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss of an old family friend.

My cat of 16 years died a while back in 2006 so I can empathize. As long as you know you gave them the chance to have the best life possible then you have nothing really to feel bad about in the end. Keep you head held high, bud. :)

I will definitely say that this is the best way the cats and dogs have ever looked in the Sims series. Not a huge fan of sims 4, but I am genuinely impressed by the look if it all. Good on EA for that, I guess!
Toddlers are the best they've ever been too, and they look really cute... still doesn't make the Sims 4 worth it though.

mootbooxle well EA does have a lot of games to work on like for the mobile version of the Sims and some others. They’re really busy with other games besides the sims, you guys need to chill on how ‘complete’ the packs are just be grateful for what you have.

It was $40 imo, with the amount of build/buy things, the 2 new traits and aspirations, the lot traits, the vet career, the new interactions, the new world, being able to create puppies and kittens in cap etc.. and just the cats and dogs would have been worth it to me.
nobel 11 Sims 3 loading screen was a pain in the ass. Sims 4 loading screens are a lot faster and the graphics are 100x better

+Zoe sims Last year I got Get Together during the Black Friday sale for $15. City living was $28 or $32 I think then. I ended up buying city living during the next sale (after Christmas) for $20. So I would say if you want the cheapest price, the post Christmas sale or afterwards would be cheapest. But the Black Friday sale is still good just a bit more.
I like being able to have foxes and racoons as pets but i also wish they were stray animals. Like racooons could come up and knock over your out side trash cans or eat your plants and scratch at your mail box or whatever else racoons do. Whats the REAL point of having them when so few people will actually have them as pets, they shouls be wild animals as well only coming at night like vampires that break into your home.

I really love your videoes. I bought Sims 4 finally today because it was on sale for 50%. Some of the expansion packs were also on sale. I considered buying them because I know how Sims works, I know you gotta dish out money for expansion packs and other DLC if you want a full experience. So I bought Cats & Dogs simply for the options of having pets and since it was half price, then I considered getting the 'get together' expansion too. I watched your reviews and went from regretting to use my money on them, to looking forward to playing them. Your way of looking at fun ways you can abuse or play around with the extra content instead of just telling the features straight up, made the packs sound a lot more fun than EA made them sound in their descriptions and trailers. Not to mention that your videos so far have just straight up been entertaining to watch too. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your content. Btw, If you don't already, I wanna suggest maybe throwing in some mod reviews as well? I'm sure there are a lot of fun mods for Sims 4 that can expand on the game.

Ok, this is EA being EA. I think Sims 4 is the weakest Sims iteration of the saga. It pays attention to already-featured details and it's no innovating at all. In this case, the expansion pack has the worst title of generic titles; I don't feel like buying it. Since the beggining, in 2014, I was underwhelmed by the base game, and now I'm underwhelmed by all those failed tries to revitalise the Sims 4.
Martin Criscione thats probably because the sims 4 team is almost half th sims 3 had so that means less productivity. I doubt that sims 5 will even happen as the game is hard to innovate on
They need to make sims 5 like sims 2. It seemed like all the "little things" in game that made it so amazing (that I still go back and play it) was lost in sims 3 and 4. I only really like sims 4 for building. I find myself furnishing more than anything.

My dog of 15 years died the same day the trailer for cats and dogs was released. What you said at the end about remaking childhood pets really hit me.

I thought the same thing, the pets are so inaccurate with certain breeds. Racoon paws are NOT the same as cat paws. They literally have little shifty hands with claws. The rest of the cats and big dogs seemed relatively okay. However, half of the small dogs got butchered. Dachshunds aren't even long like weiners, they just look so wrong. Not to mention dogs like the Corgi look like cartoon messes. I also noticed that Foxes aren't able to have cat eyes either but I can overlook that because it's a small detail and they are technically classified as dogs in this game.
They should have an option in Sims 4 setting were you can check or uncheck to control or uncontrol your pets so everyone is happy

This is just sickening me, instead of them releaseing a DLC with you know ALL the pets like fish and junk no they chop it up into tiny pieces and sell it for ridiculous prices. sounds like a fancy food restaurant.

To be honest, i was looking up these reviews to see if it was worth getting Sims 4, but honestly i think i'd be happier just sticking to sims 3. The few packs I see that might be worth it just don't make up for the sheer lack of sandbox that i loved in 3, plus as far as pets are concerned, owning and training a horse and going to competitions was my favourite thing in that pack.
I jusy keep my eyes on my pets, tbh.
For example, Stella the dog. Is scared of the tv. Is loyal. Needs lots of attention. LOVES the pool

High price for not a lot of content. Its why I just have the base game, which I haven't played in over a year. Another developer and publisher needs to create a life sim game, to add some competition. Then maybe EA would have incentive to put out better stuff. The Sims 4 was and still is, a massive disappointment.

Great review, I've been waiting for this video. I love the expansion the new location is great and the whole sea side life has a very nice feel. You should have talked about all the cool build mode stuff and how you can make the house and furniture looked more " Lived in ". Anyway awesome video

Why does EA have to chop up a game and sell it in byte size pieces? Serious when is EA going to fix this series? Of course this questions are aim at EA, because sure you don't have an answer. For example when I go to fast food place and order a sandwich I expect to get a sandwich, not a slice of bread. Basically, buying a the sims games feels like just getting a slice of bread and not the whole sandwich. However, at the end of day it's up to us to tell EA we don't want our games to be chop up into small pieces and sold separately.
Nathan Field well its the fans fault. They too dumb to notice that they just release game in parts that could easily be a free content update like a lot of games do these days. But since the first sims where updates werent a thing so releasing expansions was the easiest choice. And that caught on to future instalments which the fans bought 24/7. Also you need to consider that game development is going incredibly expensive so they have to make money to develop more expandions. Also sims 4 team is significantly smaller than the sims 3 which explains long spaces between expansions.

My personal rule of thumb: no Sims 4 expansion is worth more than $20.
i got it on sale 50%, and it's still not worth it. A complete waste of money this pack was. EPs are getting worse and at the same time GPs and SP are getting better. At this point a GP offers more or as much as an EP.
RememberRox Yeah, that's pretty on the nose. The only EP I really found to be somewhat worthwhile was Get to Work, which I felt had some improvements in terms of the career system over its TS3 Ambitions counterpart. It just seems like they're simultaneously dragging their feet and dropping the ball with these expansions. Some like to argue they're taking their time with them, but judging by what we've been getting that doesn't seem the case.

I recently got Sims 4 + Cats and dogs for something like £30 on Origin when it was that 50% sale for 18yrs of Sims or whatever.
But yeah on it's own I can't see the EP being worth much but as a bundle I thought it was alright since I can make families with pets from the get go rather then wait years for it to show up lol.

Although I like that it gives you more challenge on taking care of pets, you can't even check on information as simple as their age. And the asking price are too high which is a bit disappointing because of the great but not big enough content it offers.

okay but what if they made the loading screens look like your sim sitting in a car or train or something? like maybe traveling between lots it would be your sim driving a car an traveling between towns they'd sit in a train. And they would have like minimum animation ex.g.laughing or reading a book? I mean i guess the loading screens aren't that big of a deal but it would be kinda cool

@@stardusssr Agree. In Sims 2 I never went anywhere outside the house, because it was too annoying to sit through the loading screen. It wasn't worth it when I'd only be able to spend a couple hours at the other lot due to my needs getting in the way. The last thing I want is to go back to that. Now that EA has given us more, I EXPECT more. I think that's pretty fair if they want us to spend hundreds of dollars on a game we already owned. At this point they're literally charging us for SEVERAL new games and barely giving us ONE new game worth of content. I can't believe people are falling for it, honestly.

i don't mind the loading screens I hate that if I arrive at a bar or whatever, they then start appearing and doing stuff. wich is kinda... lame.. like they open the shop/bar when I arrive. a lot that is so annoying are the constant calls every 2 min. oh come let's go to the club at 2pm. 🙄

I played a few games in Sims 3 while only controlling cats and letting the humans do their own thing. Having pets be playable doesn't force you to play them. Having them be unplayable just limits players who would like to control them.
I actually like it that their not playable. Gives me challenge to take care of them.
@@jeromealday614 I refer you to the original point made: It's not fair to stop EVERYONE from being able to play their pets, whether they want to or not, on the basis that SOME people apparently don't have the self control to just not control their pet.
You had the choice in previous titles to not control your pet if you wanted the extra challenge. Now NO ONE has a choice. That's not better, it's worse. They've removed player choice from the equation.

Black Sheep72 Same here, always been more of a cat person. I literally lost my cat (as in stolen), even though she was hardly in peak condition or a rare/valuable breed. But I missed her unique personality and still do to this day over 10 years later. She always seemed to prefer my company to anyone else which I found odd but I guess she clearly just felt comfortable with me for some reason.
So I too totally understand how humble it can be to recreate a pet, especially if you can emulate his/her personality traits.
Pictured is now 18 and still going well, I feel so lucky, but yer I've had a few cats over my many many years.

We never had cats, only dogs. Our dog turned 13 years old when he passed away. For a boxer that is a old age as they tend to get around 10 years old. Grew up with that dog, lost him when i was 15 and now that has been more then half a life time away for me and i still miss him every day. Once a pet goes into your heart they will never leave again.
My one year old dog passed away on February 15th ;(

I agree about the interface thing. Without any UI related to pets, it makes them seem like objects, not members of the family.

The part I can't stand is that there is no way to tell what relationship one animal has with another, and no way to force interactions. I keep trying to mate two cats together, but they don't like each other and I guess they never will.

Samantha Norton Can you use the "Be nice to..."? That is supposed to make your pet friendly towards someone. I would do that a lot and then later encourage them to mate (which really is a bit creepy that you can x) ).

The fact that having cats and dogs in the Sims requires an expansion pack, is just sad to me.

@@lithiumkid it's still a cash grab and it's just gotten worse. The base is really bare bones so that you're forced to buy all these expansions to get basic things like pets, seasons etc. The game plus all expansions is worth like, what, $400? That's a lot of money for a life sim.

At this point I feel like there is absolutely no 'heart' left in The Sims franchise anymore. They hardly listen to players anymore, and they leave out things that worked in previous Sims before...They are just putting these games out now and don't even care about them anymore.
I love corgis I wouldn't say that their COMPLETELY turning a deaf ear on their customers (because they did come out with toddlers, pools, pets, etc. After everyone begged and bugged them abour it). Its just that their not putting any effort in their franchise anymore.

Toddlers and Pools is due to their game getting horrible rep if they hadn't tried to save face, or bad time management. Idk if it's the team or simply EA forcing them to rush, but EA make them cut down their game and rerelease packs from previous games to make more money. The complete Sims 3 was like 200 bucks for the FULL game. I don't think that counted stuff packs.
Without its expansions Sims 3 was definitely not a complete game, and just wasn't very fun. By comparison, 4 is garbage even with "expansions". They have to release things the size of Into the Future or Island Paradise before it'll pick up.

I like the idea of not being able to control the pets too, however, I think it should have been optional. This is a god type game, and as the 'god' of this world, I'd expect to have control over the pets if I wanted to. It's not like controlling eight people at once is realistic either, so that shouldn't be used as an excuse for not controlling pets in my opinion.
And there's so many times where my dog will just, stand, for hours. It's creepy and breaks my immersion lol
Take advantage of mods before they remove the ability to mod their games hoping it would drive up sales of the expansions since theres no one else that provides the game with content.. Also, yes. I know this is 2 years old.

Without a doubt thats the reason, the rEApers (As I like to call them) are scummy and greedy. Their company name Electronic Arts is as far from real art as humanly possible. TS4 isn't unfun but it's basically a rehash of old content but watered down with age.

I agree completely. Sucked me in for a couple hours and then I was wanting more from the game. Just seems very incomplete to me. I would have liked to see them incorporate festivals in the city for the pets, and the obstacle course seemed useless unless there was some type of competition they could enter.

Adam Noyce, My cat is around 5 months old and he is a Ragdoll cat. He has recently almost died, I was very scared and when we brought him to the vet, the vet/nurse told me and my family that he probably won’t make it because he was breathing heavily and fast and very very deep. He was only a baby but guess what? The nurse came to my family with a frown. My first thought
Was yup, he’s dead. But a few seconds later she told us, HE SURVIVED! We were all happy. Con is, he’s still very sick and started to cough.

Nur Shahirah Yeah, get to work had only 3 careers, Get together felt unnecessary, City living had a very small city to actually interact with and "pets" is cats and dogs. No one would be complaining if Sims 3 hadn't done such big efforts, sure, it was buggy as hell but you got your money's worth
This sums up TS4 perfectly. The entire game and all it's packs all feel rushed despite taking years to be released and the general feel I always get from each new pack is "laziness". Like they just can't be bothered to put in more effort.
