Hi, can you make a video on how you balance ur time, cope with stress and overcome burnouts? PS, I'm from Sg too and your videos really inspire me, keep it up!
I really enjoy this video since I can learn more about the structure and content of an eye-catching and high-quality personal statement. Thanks for sharing! I am a Chinese A Level student applying for UK universities in Computer Science soon, so this video will help me to write a better personal statement.
That was solid ! The video was helpful for me as I apply to dental school because I find similarities in the drive and training required to be a good healthcare professional.
I had read your personal statement before but listening to you read it felt way different:) I had this question for you what is the difference between personal statement and statement of purpose do you have any idea??
I think they refer to similar things - basically an admissions or application essay, just that UK schools call it a personal statement. The requirements and length may also be a bit different depending on which school / country you're applying to.
In my opinion personal statement should be something you should keep to yourself because it's private and confidential. You work hard for it. Once it goes viral, it is easy for others to copy your statement. I found that you have many advanced vocabularies which I think is the one component that captures the admission to interview you. Congratulations on being accepted! Good Luck!!
That's quite true! I hesitated for a long time before sharing it online, and only because I've seen others do the same, just as an example for students who are stuck or have never written a personal statement before. More as an idea of how to structure the personal statement and fit it into 4000 characters. In my video, I think I mentioned that viewers shouldn't copy my personal statement (I can't remember if I actually said that), and UCAS checks for plagiarism too. Looking back, I think my personal statement isn't the best and there's much room for improvement. Nevertheless, thanks for your kind comment and well wishes!
Hi, I was just wondering what getting a “special diploma” from the University of Oxford means. Is it the same as getting a College Degree and is it enough for someone to get a Master’s at Wharton University?
Yes, that's possible if it's relevant, for example if it shaped or influenced your desire to pursue medicine (or another subject if you're applying for something else). We usually mention this in the introduction if it was an impactful personal experience.
Hello madam, I am a high school student from Iraq and my high school diploma is not recognized in Britain. Please explain to me, do I have to do a preparatory year before applying to the university or after accepting the test because it is strange that I study a year and then fail to enter the university and I am sorry for the inconvenience
Hi I'm not very sure about the academic qualifications for your country, but if it's not recognised by UK universities, you may have to take an international exam that is recognised. As far as I know, you can apply without doing a preparatory year, but if you don't have all the normal required qualifications, the preparatory year may give you a better chance at a successful application.
Hi I wanna to ask about bmat exam.... Right now this year I'm in 12th standard so I should apply it now or after completing my 12th means next year in 2023?? Please suggest me which year I should apply for the exam
Hi, I'm not entirely sure which grade that corresponds to in the UK. Most people apply in their final year of school before university. So if in October you will be in your final year, then yes you should take the BMAT.
I had a question: if one is fortunate enough to become a doctor from Oxford, can they still return to their own country and practice there? Or do they need any degree? I am from Bangladesh. So I hope to know the answer with respect to Bangladesh.
I am only familiar with the system in my own country, which has a "list of overseas medical schools with registrable basic medical qualifications" determined by the Singapore Medical Council. I believe there should be a similar list for your country, perhaps the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (from what I can find by searching online)? You should be able to return to your own country to practice, but may need to undergo additional training / take certain tests or exams, depending on the specific requirements for medical registration in your country.
It's not strictly necessary but almost all applicants would have some form of work experience, especially for UK medical schools. If you don't have any work experience, you will probably be at a disadvantage compared to everyone else. If getting work experience at a hospital is difficult, I'd suggest volunteering / part-time work in hospitals or healthcare-related settings.
@@sayanikasaha7660 I assume you're referring to the BSMS online work experience? I know that many students have done it, especially during the pandemic. I'm not sure if they're available now, but if you still have time before applying, I'd recommend trying to get some in-person work experience too, since they tend to be more immersive. If you wish to stand out with only the BSMS work experience (which many people have done as well), you'd have to write about your learning and reflections in a unique and insightful way.
@@sayanikasaha7660 In that case, I'd recommend volunteering in a medical or healthcare-related setting (for example, I volunteered at a hospice). If that's also not possible, it's always good to make the most of whatever experiences and opportunities you have. All the best!
its probably the best personal state i have ever read

Hey, do you think mentioning a personal story would fit into the concept of the personal statement?
(preparing for 2023 entry)
Yes, that's possible if it's relevant, for example if it shaped or influenced your desire to pursue medicine (or another subject if you're applying for something else). We usually mention this in the introduction if it was an impactful personal experience.
How did you fit all this in and still keep to the 4000 character word limit?
Yes this was within the 4000 character limit (usually about 5-7 body paragraphs, but also depending on the length of your paragraphs)

Yep Oxford only accepts the October/November BMAT (usually late Oct or early Nov).
I have question . Is it necessary to write yr name while starting to write personal statement??
I have volunteered to help students in a college complete a practical in science, does that count as volunteering.
