Nice job. What I wish people who do not know seeing this realize is how small this actually is in real life. This guy is using a microscope to do this. The pads he replaced are like the size of a pen tip. Without magnification this job would be almost impossible. Nice work

Hello! Thanks for the video and congratulations on the work. What tool did you use to wear the tracks?

Nice work on the repair. This is something I need to learn how to do myself. :] What were those copper pad things you used for this repair?

Thank you for the comment! I used pad strips:

Does it work, though? By the way, great job doing this; I'm in a similar situation as well with my New Nintendo 3ds XL.

Yes, it is working perfectly! If is your first micro soldering, is best to practice with a junk board before trying with N3DS.

@@PrimoAngelo Well, this may be a long story, but yes. I originally bought a new motherboard for my 3DS XL to replace the original motherboard only after accidentally damaging the larger SMD port on the original motherboard where it connects the ribbon cable to the ABXY board (the pins on it was damaged by my tweezers); little did I know, I realized that most of the data on the board had my years of game data on it and I thought it was lost forever and I had to start my experience all over again, however, now thanks to TH-cam I now know that it is possible to fix it on the fly. Now after formatting the system memory and deleting my NNID that was linked to the new board [the old board still has my NNID], I treated the new motherboard as a donor motherboard just in case I accidentally damage parts for the original motherboard. Yeah, I could've bought a heating station soon after with other supplies to desolder the SMD from the new motherboard and swap it onto the old motherboard so my game can be working properly. In contrast, the SMD clamp on the new motherboard "accidentally" came off. As a result, I ignorantly desoldering the SMD in an ugly fashion on the original board without the use of the heating station, so I removed it in bits. By the way, an important resistor that was by the SMD reading at 100K Ohms was removed by my tweezers, so luckily my soldering pad saved it so I can put it away in a zip lock bag. In closer inspection after cleaning up the flux, I saw a brown spot on the motherboard in relation to a shiny, short protrusion connection (copper) that was exposed coming from a resistor, but broken with a missing pad. I realized that I ripped the pad off while removing the SMD. So, on the new motherboard, I carved a pad from it to replace the missing pad and I am going to use a 40 AWG copper wire with precision solder tips on my iron to repair the connection. Then I'm going to seal the connection with the UV Masking paste and UV light. Then, I'm going to solder the resistor back onto its placement on the board. Moreover, may need to also swap the HOME and MIC ports as well. Finally, I will use one of the 2 pack of SMDs I bought on eBay to mount it in place and clean the area using flux remover and alcohol.
This maybe too much, but I'll let you know how it's going by the end of the month.

I thought I was going to go to hell when I looked at this soldering...😒

BAD soldering skills! Change your tip on that similar case. That tip is not for this small soldering.

I use Aixun T3B soldering station with the "extra pointed end head" which is the smallest available.
The tracks are smaller than those on the ps4/ps5 HDMI for example.
Which station and tips do you use?
Do you have a video to show me where you do the soldering so I can improve? Thank you
