    Another great idea! A little tip I do when fastening aluminum to steel like this, put a little bead of silicone in between them before riveting/screwing them together. Seals the steel to prevent moisture from getting in between them and keeps them from vibrating and making noise.

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your right , I don't think itll ever vibrate it's so tight but I should have painted both pieces before putting then together for corrosion purposes but I'm always on a dead line , between work and TH-cam I stay pretty much slammed. Plus I building keep my boat . I'll be fine . I'll probably be building something more awesome soon that's how TH-cam works lol I'm jk . I do build a lot of stuff for videos though lol

      That and dissimilar metals touching each other will eventually start corroding. I think he's going to have issues with that unpainted steel in a year or two. If he is anywhere near salt water, it'll corrode rapidly.

    I mounted pedestal bases on the face of my boat bench seats so when I travel I can pull them out and they have a place to be stored. Same could be done for the pole holder so they are laying instead of sticking up for travel on the highway. Also the tarp could be placed over the boat with the poles still in.

    Weld a nut to the frame for your mounting screws, that way you eliminate the possibility of water intrusion into the frame through the holes you drilled. You could also slide a bolt through the frame holes and weld it on both sides, but the nut option is less work and you can easily grind off the nut to replace it in the future.

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right that would work , but it rusting a little on the side won't hurt nothing ,,,ill build another one better any way lol jk . I build a lot of stuff . But seriously I see steel last outside for years , going and shopping at scrapyards and its like the rust coating that fiend on it protects it because it lays out in the elements for years and don't rust away . Plus it fish fresh water , don't care much for the rain and my boats building kept . But don't get me wrong your way would be superior

    Want an idea for Version 2? I used cutting boards from Amazon where they have a variety of sizes and colors...even green! Drill 1 1/2" to 2" holes in both boards around the perimeter for rods, add smaller holes on top for pliers, slit for a knife, etc. Then just space the boards according to your shortest rod butt (I used 4 8' pieces of aluminum I had laying around) and mount to a seat pedestal. And when all your rods are out you can even use it as.......a cutting board! On my version, instead of regular holes on the back corners, I dropped in 2 30 degrees rod holders just to make the DIY a little sweeter.

      No I didn't want you to think I was being too critical either as I have great respect for someone like you who takes their time to share their talent and insight with others. That is a very noble thing and I hate it when people go full-on negative to someone who is doing their very best. So when answering your question I just think it is more enjoyable for a viewer like me without music at all or if there is music it is played low in the background so that you are the focal point of the video not the music which can overpower the presentation. That is just my opinion and everyone may not agree with that and I respect that. But I do watch a lot of videos especially in regards to fishing and I hear others making that same comment, as most fishermen really respect nature and find peace in our pursuit. Keep up the good work!
