Hey Dude, I like the theme of your DIY projects. I have a good topic suggestion for ya. How about 10 unconventional uses for zip ties. For example, the car dealer stripped the holes for my truck license plate (must have used a power tool) and I noticed the screws were loose. I jammed a couple zip tie segments in the holes and the screws now tighten very snug. Another application: my Mustang had a rear end knock over bumps due to slight play in the bushing around the rear sway bar (non-moving part, which costs $400 to replace) but a couple of large zip ties snugged it right up since they had the perfect elasticity for the job. There must be lots of other unconventional uses.

On ur last pvc and bucket holder u could trim some pole noodles into the base of the pipes to help steady the racks and make em more buoyant. If u like kayaking the bucket idea with 550 cord tied to the rod tips wrap or a pole noodle and rubber band wrapped tip could make them compact and buoyant incase the dropped over the sides during transport or any kinda boat really

Hey can you make a video on hacks for transporting rods so they dont get tangled if you have a small car and have to break your rod down. Personally ive been leaving my gear on down to the swivil then i have two short pieces of pvc pipe duct taped together ill put the whole rod through one side of the PVC split the rod and feed the tip back through the other side and then reel up the line tight before placing the rod in the trunk of the car keeps the rods from tangling with eachother when transporting multiple rods for the kids and everybody.

  • @daniels6746

Is there an ideal spacing for the two ends of a hanging rack to maintain the integrity of the rods, or are they so light that it doesn’t matter. Cheers.

Everybody likes fancy schmancy stuff but, I never understood why so many people throw money away buying things they can easily build. The more money you save building your own functional stuff, the more money you'll have when you see that fancy schmancy thing you can't build and can't live without. Pro tip: *NEVER* build a rod rack for how many rods you have right now or you will be building another one later when you buy more rods. Save yourself some time and materials later, make extra space to start with.

I'm about to build apvc storage for inside my RAV4. I currently have some of those straps you can find, but they suck! They have small Velcro circles that I guess you are supposed to undo Everytime you want your rod out, nope, I slid the woods over the top of the strap, and of course baits get stuck, they slide around making noise. So I'm gonna get some PVC probably 3-4 feet, mount them to those straps and slide the poles inside.

I like your DIY projects. I’m retired, not a lot of money,so your ideas will work for me. I live in my small (not tiny) travel trailer so I’m thinking about an idea to store my rods/reels inside my trailer.
I already have a makeshift “rack in my ‘04 Tahoe made with pool noodles so I have a feeling one end of my indoor storage will consist of one also..
    Keep the DIYs coming.

PVC + Noodle combo works for me!
I also use the noodles for kayak bumpers on top of the car rack, instead of the $75+ chunks of foam that are designed for it! They make good canoe rims too!

I've done videos on all that stuff too lol . PVC and pool noodles are very handy

My rack is on the back of my work bench, its 2 lengths of timber glued and screwed to the bench, the top length has picture hooks to hold the rod and the bottom length is on a 90 degree shelf support so its flat and wider the the top length, simple and cheap with easy access.

I made some rod racks out of wood like those in cabelas using 2 2X10X10 for about $15 each . These are 7 foot long 2 sided racks

I made a rod rack from scrap pallets that the local hardware store just gave me for free. Drilled a hole for the the handle on one side, and notched the bottom just so it sits cleanly. Cheapest rod rack I've ever made. Now just need to paint is to make it look nice and protect the wood from fraying.

I USED 1 1/4 -1 1/2 CONDUIT CLAMPS , SCREW THEM TO MY BUILDING RAFTERS ABOUT 4 TO 6 INCHES APART, WORKS GREAT . CONTRACTOR BAG IS CHEAP AT LOWES.

@@FishinNStuff WHAT ABOUT USING SCRAP PVC , MAYBE LIKE 1IN OR 1 1/2 IN SMALL PIECES AND DRILLING A HOLE THROUGH ONE SIDE SO YOU CAN USE A SELF TAPPING SCREW AND SCREW TO THE RAFTERS. ON THE HANDLE SIDE USE 11/2 IN PVC AND ON THE ROD TIP END USE 1IN PVC AND SLIDE YOUR POLES IN. JUST A THOUGHT. COUPLINGS MAY WORK TO.
