@@Gdog4430 It reminded me of Season 3 when Avon started to rely more on Slim Charles rather than Stringer. That smirk Bobby gives Chris said a lot too.
Bobby becoming SO much more cold after being made underboss and one hit actually gives really good insight into what makes Tony who he is. That life -- at that level -- turns any compassionate person into a monster.
First time I watched this series, I was a kid. The first time I never realized Bobby's progression in the series. Now I get to study as an adult all the subtle things I missed in this groundbreaking show!
Bobby replaced Chris completely. Strong silent type Tony was looking for, someone who wasn't a drug addict, dependable, and no drama with no side action. He went up the ranks quick because he didn't do any funny business. Its interesting all the idiots cracking jokes at him all the time all got passed up.
Such an interesting choice of music in that scene at the restaurant. It's the music from raging bull, but also the end of the godfather 3. And as we know, sopranos is full of godfather references.
It was great watching Bobby’s character transform from Jrs caretaker at the same time being the guy the fat people called fat to the silent modest confident type you need for an underboss
Something I've realized, Tony picked Paulie to run the hit on Phil because out of the capos at the time, he was the least profitable and most problematic, so if New York figured out who ran the operation, there was a higher chance of them going after him than Bobby or Silvio.
Gandolfini was so perfect for this role. If you watch just his body language and mannerisms at 2:57 you can tell he had literally got to the point he didn't have to act, he just starts being Tony lol
I love how subtle Bobby's character development was, It was like one episode Tony was insulting him and then the next Tony was talking matters with Sil and Bobby while Christopher was the outsider
@3:17 I think here, Bobby was genuinely interested in hearing Chris out as an underboss. But Chris had such a big ego, he only wanted Tony’s attention.
Phil was too bitter and too fixated on his own personal vendettas to be an effective boss. It's about money. Tony got worse towards the end too, though. He took that greed to the extreme and didn't bother with the appearances of the mafia theatrics.
Dom D Worst boss imaginable. He was a self-righteous narcissist. All he ever talked about was his own personal issues, and his 20 year stretch in the can! When the SUV ran over his head, I almost clapped. 😁
Bobby went from being an almost innocent messenger boy to a stone cold practical leader. That's why Tony did Chris how he did: Chris never learned how to be a leader and never grew much as a person or earner.
This is such a funny joke it would be really nice to see it plastered all over the internet and overused to the point I want to bleach my eyeballs every time I see it.

Tony should’ve been Thankful to have Bobby, Principled, Country Family Tradition. “Strong Silent type, like Gary Cooper?!” - Tony Soprano “ He didn’t have the makins of a varsity athlete....SMH - Junior Soprano
I think bobby was the best prepped to be under boss and eventual boss. Bobby had been at juniors side when he was boss and probably learned alot about the decision making process for a mob boss.
Man this video really shows how smoothly the transition of power was going before bobby was hit. Unlike the failed Transition to chrissy, which was full of bumps. Bobby really knew that the job entailed. I liked how tony setup the first attempt at taking out phil, he just gave a few words to bobby and sil, and they took care of the rest, no instructions needed. Which is exactly how tony wanted things to be as he distanced himself from being involved in the dirty work.
Great visual of how the dynamic had changed, from "THE BOSS OF THIS FAMILY SAYS YOU'RE SANTA CLAUS! You're Santa Claus." to Bobby questioning Paulie and not backing down an inch.
Funny thing is, out of many of the guy's under Tony's thumb, Bobby was at least reliable. You could give him a job and know it would get done. His elevation to under-boss was no doubt partly as a result of his marriage to Janice, but I think Tony could see he had a good soldier in Bobby. Tony, even if grudgingly so, respected Bobby after their fight and they did start to grow closer. You notice towards the end that its the "big 3" conversing in strategy or having dinner together: Tony, Silvio and Bobby. And Tony's orders are given primarily through Silvio & Bobby, which is also why at the end when Leotardo decides to take down the Soprano family he targets the top 3.....Tony, Silvio.....and Bobby!!
U always gotta look at the fact he was under junior for years as driver/captain tony always had dealings wit him meeting with his uncle and who else could tony put there Carlo patsy Benny no way
Loved Paulie, despite his flaws. Straight gangster that didn't back down from no one. He even told Tony when he was just a capo to take his f@#kin' hands off of him. Granted, Bobby would have won this fight butI think Bobby was wise enough not to beat up an old man, just neutralize him. Bobby had a good sense about him. Brilliant show, characters, actors.

After that he became much more self-confident, Tony promoted him to the underboss and gained much respect from Tony after their fight and killing of that guy , that's seen from Chris perspective , he saw too he lost his privileges and basically became outcast from Tony's circle
@@MensaGiraffe Yes, many times we feel empathy for them, for Chris when Ade was killed, for Eugene when he was trapped between his family, mafia and FBI, for Ralphie after his son was in the hospital, Johnny Sack after cancer diagnosis but in the end they were all merciless killers who had it coming, only guy who i sympathize is Little Carmine he seems like really nice guys, most in legitimate businesses who always wanted to help others and avoid bloodshed , he helped AJ at the end and wanted to help Tony and Phil to reconcile but his malapropisms turned many things in fiasco :))
Fuck Hesh, and his 200k.
@@brnfrmjts05 Heesh isn't some innocent bystander too, he was jewish loanshark, people knew not to fuck with him because of his connections with Cosa Nostra, he robbed poor black singers from their royalties, Tony urged many times for him, even against his uncle and when Hesh was in brawl with Gerry Torciano ie New York family , he only profited from his relation with Tony so Tony maybe felt how Hesh is ungrateful fuck.
Love Bobby’s arc in the show. He went from juniors crew, to his driver and babysitter, to underboss in just six seasons!
And he promptly died
Bobby in my opinion is the most normal coolest kind hearted mobster of everyone. All that matters is family to him he takes orders and handles business. He took care of junior for a long time and also is a marksman and a hell of a shot. When the war started going on he was the first one they got cuz they knew he would've been their biggest problem out of everyone in the sopranos family
I feel like Tony gained respect for Bobby after Bobby whooped his ass and he tried to give him a murder to get back at him but he took it in stride. He might’ve been rattled but he’s committed
!!!!!facts!!!!!!
Wow bro I’ve watched the whole series 3 times and I didn’t catch that thx
Bobby was mostly pissed they weren’t playing monopoly the way they should have . Lol
I love seeing fandoms crossover wassup Mikey

Lol. I always think the same thing when I watch that scene.
They're reenacting a scene from Raging Bull
Bobby would lay out anyone from New Jersey or New York in a fight
😂. It's raging bull. Still funny tho that you said that
@@davidmalakai2338Agreed
Bobby was my favourite character in the whole show. Placid, 'nice' guy, but completely driven and ruthless. Brilliant character and actor.
Bobby wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box but he definitely was the “Strong Silent” type
Also 4:46 sit down is why the three were on Phil’s hitlist Sil,Bobby, and Tony

Bobby was such a great character. He went from comedy relief to one of the most fledged out characters in the show
Fleshed out good man.
Bobby was an everyman. Someone whom the audience could connect to, at least a little bit.
After eating a tray of manicotti, yep definitely
I will NEVER get tired of Sopranos!! Great post!
3:15 "What happened?" - that's a Boss response, and Bobby was first to do it. Ask that question to draw out information. That's why Tony and Sil didn't flinch when Bobby asked it. They also wanted to know.
Exactly. Chris's face when he asked that. He was like wtf. Could of been Chris had he been a more effective leader and not a drug addict.
Gdog4430 that’s what tragic about Chris when sober and clear headed he was an ace.
@@Gdog4430 It reminded me of Season 3 when Avon started to rely more on Slim Charles rather than Stringer. That smirk Bobby gives Chris said a lot too.
“You touchin asbestos?” 😂
Bobby becoming SO much more cold after being made underboss and one hit actually gives really good insight into what makes Tony who he is.
That life -- at that level -- turns any compassionate person into a monster.
First time I watched this series, I was a kid. The first time I never realized Bobby's progression in the series. Now I get to study as an adult all the subtle things I missed in this groundbreaking show!
By the sopranos definition, a kid means you could’ve been as old as 47
Bobby replaced Chris completely. Strong silent type Tony was looking for, someone who wasn't a drug addict, dependable, and no drama with no side action. He went up the ranks quick because he didn't do any funny business. Its interesting all the idiots cracking jokes at him all the time all got passed up.
7:59 best moment of the entire series
Sam Abbott I don’t get it
Ashley Malone raging bull
From a Bronx tale
Maybe the best moment of a very dark last Season, but I wouldn't say it's the best moment ever.

Such an interesting choice of music in that scene at the restaurant. It's the music from raging bull, but also the end of the godfather 3. And as we know, sopranos is full of godfather references.
And the Doors

i think its safe to say its being taken from ragin bull in this instance

Imagine if Paulie had been there. He would've wanted the car fumigated afterward.
WE ALL TAWK DAT WAY ON DIS COAST. U GOT A PROBLEM
You remembah to put the spores in there?
What season and episode was this
His death hit harder than any other in the series for me, loved his character development
It was great watching Bobby’s character transform from Jrs caretaker at the same time being the guy the fat people called fat to the silent modest confident type you need for an underboss
When the fuck did I say this?
Something I've realized, Tony picked Paulie to run the hit on Phil because out of the capos at the time, he was the least profitable and most problematic, so if New York figured out who ran the operation, there was a higher chance of them going after him than Bobby or Silvio.
No because he was trusted most to do that job. Raymond dead and Larry in prison.
so? last week you realized there was a flying saucer over east rutherford
Charles Schwab ova' here.
Did tony pick Paulie or did Bobby ? I didn’t see tony tell Bobby to pick paulie I saw it as him saying that’s his decision to makes
I mean remember Bobby did rescue Paulie from the pine barrens “ head shot , I don’t know ... on the other hand anything’s possible “
Gandolfini was so perfect for this role. If you watch just his body language and mannerisms at 2:57 you can tell he had literally got to the point he didn't have to act, he just starts being Tony lol
Agreed
Bobby bacala:The emotional Mob boss. Probably would cry after hearing he's been made the boss. The best guy on sopranos! 😂
Phil Leotardo, great character played by an amazing actor, Frank Vincent!
I love how subtle Bobby's character development was, It was like one episode Tony was insulting him and then the next Tony was talking matters with Sil and Bobby while Christopher was the outsider
"Give him his FUCKING VIG" Love me some Tony Soprano
@3:17 I think here, Bobby was genuinely interested in hearing Chris out as an underboss. But Chris had such a big ego, he only wanted Tony’s attention.
Phil was a terrible boss.
Dom D beyond belief...i was ruined when johnny sac left us
Phil was too bitter and too fixated on his own personal vendettas to be an effective boss.
great acting tho
Let me tell you a couple of three things...
Bobby became really sinister in the last season. Especially in the scene with Hesh.
Oh how the context of that scene went over your head.

Loved bobby. David Chase must've loved the actor and character to give him such an arc.
Loved Bobby an Paulie bucking up to each other. Bobby was ready.
Bobby would have killed Paulie in a fight. No question.
Bobby went from being an almost innocent messenger boy to a stone cold practical leader. That's why Tony did Chris how he did: Chris never learned how to be a leader and never grew much as a person or earner.
“ I’m his brota in lawr”
Bacala, the only guy who stood up to Tony in a fist fight.
Don’t forget his old man took on mustang sally. Rocky balboas brother in law couldn’t even make it up the steps without coughing
Tony, Bobby, and Sil was a nice combo. Its a shame what happen to them, whatever happen there.
It would be really nice to know how many years Phil spent in prison because they kept a big secret throughout the whole show.
I think it was at least 20
We only know that while inside, he wanted to eat a radiator, but he compromised and fucked a manicotti instead.
Not a peep
This is such a funny joke it would be really nice to see it plastered all over the internet and overused to the point I want to bleach my eyeballs every time I see it.

Bobby and Sil were always one of my favorite guys in the show
It took Bobby to ask him what happened for Christopher realize he's been passed over.
And he knew it
Yeah Bobby was a fat fuck who got his comeuppance
He was totally fuckin ostrafied
Bobby was awesome . He just had this amazing presence about him . I was gutted when he got wacked .
💨💨me too. Your Father, I’m sure you know by now chose Bobby as UnderBoss. They got in a fight and it didn’t go to well for your Pops. Tony should’ve been Thankful to have Bobby, Principled, Country Family Tradition. “Strong Silent type, like Gary Cooper?!” - Tony Soprano
“ He didn’t have the makins of a varsity athlete....SMH - Junior Soprano
"Watch your fat fucking mouth" has me dying every time. 😂
I think bobby was the best prepped to be under boss and eventual boss. Bobby had been at juniors side when he was boss and probably learned alot about the decision making process for a mob boss.
The moment he understood Junior’s eye doctor joke, you knew he was gonna be the underboss one day.
Paulie was about to learn the hard way that Bobby can fight
“You know what bacala means in Italian ? “
Agreed. Paulie would have gotten put through a wall
I was once an extra in a movie called Nicky Deuce, and lemme tell you Bobby looks and acted like the nicest person in the world
Bobby would have crushed Paulie's walnuts...
Erik Hafer not a chance.
That sounds like Vito's MO
Hehehehe
Man this video really shows how smoothly the transition of power was going before bobby was hit. Unlike the failed Transition to chrissy, which was full of bumps. Bobby really knew that the job entailed. I liked how tony setup the first attempt at taking out phil, he just gave a few words to bobby and sil, and they took care of the rest, no instructions needed. Which is exactly how tony wanted things to be as he distanced himself from being involved in the dirty work.
Christopher become a little jealous of Bobby it looks like at the BBQ scene and when Bobby responds to him in the back of satriales
Great visual of how the dynamic had changed, from "THE BOSS OF THIS FAMILY SAYS YOU'RE SANTA CLAUS! You're Santa Claus." to Bobby questioning Paulie and not backing down an inch.
“Fuck you Santa!” Ohh!
The fear of asbestos was my introduction to Sopranos…three nights later I had the pilot running, three weeks after that season 6B started. what a ride
You know, Quasimodo predicted all this.
U always gotta look at the fact he was under junior for years as driver/captain tony always had dealings wit him meeting with his uncle and who else could tony put there Carlo patsy Benny no way
Did you see that pwishy attitude
Unbelievable the level Bobby made it to if you just see him in the first few series. The true Gary cooper type.
Bobby is a loyal mobster and definitely has the experience to be the underboss
Remember when Tony was making fun of how fat was Bobby? look at them both near the end. Almost the same Weight.
From quasimodo to Tony's main man.
That boat has the makings of a varsity athlete
