East Harbour is a lifesaver for those coming from out of town to work in the film and TV industry. Getting to Pinewood or Cinespace from Union or Danforth is a lengthy pain in the arse. Soon it'll be a short walk from East Harbour.
That jab at Olivia Chow was unnecessary. The wheels were in motion for the name change well before she was elected. She is still the most transit oriented urbanist mayor we’ve had in YEARS.
Not only that, but for a city whose 2024 operating budget was $17.12 billion, spending $800k is the same as someone whose net annual income is $50k spending $2.33. It's basically nothing. You'd never notice the difference. It just sounds like a lot because the average person uses their own individual finances as a reference point.
Especially when most other mayoral candidates in the last election didn’t support transit expansion like her. She isn’t perfect but shes among the best mayors transit wise in Canada
Moreso, Olivia Chow also decided against spending millions on renaming ALL of Dundas Street, so she has been saving money for other, more necessary projects.
I appreciate updates from various video creators, but this odd jab screams unprofessional and "anti-woke" obsession. Completely unrelated to the update about East Harbour Go.
I hope that Bloor-Lansdowne, King-Liberty get different names. Intersection names are awkward. Neighbourhood names would be better. Hence why I'm still for a name change for Yonge-Dundas Square. Not for political correctness reasons, I just don't like intersection based name. I always thought that was lame.
@@OurToronto Most people disagree with me. Still, if it were left up to me I would rename it Eaton Square, given the history of Eatons in the area. Much better than the robotic intersection names that seem to be the preference in this city.
@@davidreichert9392 There should have been a public discussion about the choice of a new name at least. Is this not a public square? Instead, the name was put forth by who Chris Moise refers to as the "experts". I'm not sure who these people are. I think they are supposed to be black and indigenous ....I'm not sure what. And the name they came up with was voted upon at city council. Sudoku Square it is.
@@pauly5418 Honestly, I think the square itself was a big waste of money. It's ugly and serves no real purpose. Just another tacky Mel Lastman folly. I'd rather have the perpetually going out of business jeans store back.
I think they should call Bloor-Lansdowne station… just Lansdowne. Much like the Line 2 station that already exists there and is supposed to connect there. I really hate intersection names as well, they just feel so lazy and can get confusing if there’s too many of them 🫠 As for other intersection names: King-Liberty? Liberty Village. Or King West Village, idk. St. Clair-Old Weston? Stockyards. Finch-Kennedy? …okay I’m honestly stumped but that doesn’t mean the name doesn’t still suck.
You should've held that 800k name-change scheme up a bit longer because I think only people who understood the reference were reminded of just how appalling it was to spend close to ONE MILLION dollars on something that is desperately needed in other city areas!
Yeah well it was directed at those that got the reference. But it's hard to put up something that goes against Olivia Chow because so many people like her. I don't understand why because the only thing she knows how to do is raise taxes. I don't see her actually getting anything else done.
@@OurToronto I won't necessarily dump on everything she's done (and historically there are some things she's done pretty well in the city)...however...that whole 800k thing (and more incidents similar in nature) cause me to believe that she's willing to sacrifice the well-being of our city for some cheap political grand-standing and I don't care what side of the political aisle it comes from, that's simply unacceptable when so many people struggle to even get food on their table and their rent or mortgage paid.
Glad to see progress moving forward! Let's hope these newer projects can avoid some of the problems of the older ones.

Very true

I'll have to disagree, I think it creates identity and familiarity.
