you should read their book, and utahs history, ever heard of the Mormon battalion, or captain Moroni, aswell as Helaman. There are many war chief within the Mormon religion. The book of Alma section in the book of Mormon has many chapters about wars

at the end of the DLC when I got to him, he opened up on me. I was terribly confused why he turned on me. I gunned him down with regret. I secured his gun and armour and store it with honor.
"I survived because the fire within burned brighter than the fire around me." Is such a great line.
And what's more beautiful in those words, he reveals that the fire that burned within him is love
I don't enjoy killing but when done righteously it is just a chore like any other.

I always loved Joshua's Graham character in fallout I felt like him and Ulysses were two of the best characters ever put in a fallout series they were so complex and had layers where most of the other characters were very shallow and forgettable, it would have been nice if they could have became companions of The courier and help you throughout the world and fought at your side especially in the final battle at the Hoover dam against Caesar's legion.
I just found Ulysses to be annoying most of the time. it was cool that the whole story was built up between the courier and him, but he kept on talking, the only thing i remember about him is "Bear" and "Bull".

I'm a Mojave Jack Mormon living just outside Zion Canyon. Joshua Graham is a character that is like a lot of the old WW2 generation Mormons I grew up with
Both were touched by and scarred by the Legion. Ulysses had scars of the mind and Joshua had them of both body and soul.
Joshua has to be one of the most metal characters in new vegas, building up the legion from the ground up basically, being betrayed, set on fire, and thrown down a entire ass canyon, then walking for 3 months while scrapping on deaths door only to kill numerous assassins coming after him, then wiping out a ruthless tribe. Guys a pretty big badass he’s gotta be my second favorite fallout character or somewhere up there

He uses a Colt M1911 because it was made by one of his Mormon ancestors… the legendary gun maker John Moses Browning.
Joshua Graham is my personal favorite character in New Vegas. I'm not a religious person, but he really does convince me of a man of good faith who pretty much fell, then through the pain brought on by his own admitted hubris and loss of his ways, rose up from Hell back into the light.
And Keith Szarabajka's performance has cemented him in my head. Sure most would probably remember him as "the guy who voiced the dunmer in Skyrim", but the dude has a pretty extensive list of acting credits. Plus his voice is immediately recognizable. He's up there with the likes of other distinct voice performances like Keith David.

Hearing this all laid out this story sounds insanely biblical which I’m sure was the idea but still, wow. What an amazing character.
Joshua is an example of a religious character written "right". He's a flawed human being with strong beliefs. You can argue he is a fanatic, I don't think he would disagree with that assessment, but he also holds himself accountable by his own code. In Sawyer's words, "He could have blamed (Ceaser) for his fall, instead he blamed himself." And from that starting place, you get to influence whether he can find redemption, or return to his old savage ways.
Oh, man. I've been waiting for this one in particular! Joshua Graham honestly gets me in a pensive and spiritual mood with his personal philosophy even though I've never followed any religion. Honest Hearts was single handedly carried by him, hype 🔥
Randall Clark also helped carry Honest Hearts, not just Joshua.
@S what makes you believe otherwise, the very name of the Church is The Church of *Jesus Christ* of Latter-Day Saints. "Mormonism" is a nickname that others have given, it's not our faith nor our religion. Christianity = followers of Christ. We follow Christ and everything we believe revolves around that very principle. If that isn't Christianity, then I don't know what is.

Graham is like the one time a game made a Mormon character that wasn’t a joke.
He is the coolest and probably most complex character in all of Fallout. He was actually the first character i ever cosplayed as and every year i want to cosplay him again. The bandages are such a pain though to deal with

Joshua Graham is one of, if not the best, portrayal of a Christian character in game so far in my opinion. Not too soft, not too brutal. Good with a gun & with Scripture. He truly is like the Prodigal Son, a story of how a believer can get lost & come back for redemption in Christ Jesus. As a Christian, the way he talked about our faith made me realize a lot of things. One thing, it encouraged me to be proud of my faith. That amidst the harshness & brutality of the Wasteland, one can still believe. Hoping that the New Canaanites might be a joinable faction soon in future Fallout games.

Joshua was right about the White Legs. You could run but they’d never never stop and had to be put down for good.
One of the most profound characters in the entire Fallout series for me, and this video essay does it justice.
I always found that almost all post-apocaliptic games lacked hardcore real world Religion factions.
Like let me tell you i consider myself a religious person, but if there were mutants, cannibals etc i would sear a Chi-Ro into my forehead and become a fanatic without parallel.

Mambas are only on Africa. This is an old Chuck Norris joke. But Joshua is based in part on Paul the Apostle, who was bitten by a viper who’s venom was said to kill within three days. He survived.
i really love joshua graham, and he’s my favorite character out of all characters in new vegas. my father introduced me to fallout new vegas, and i always loved joshua’s story about redemption, determination and even though i am not religious, good faith and having a drive. he is a top tier character!
I kinda want to see a fallout in the northwest and Utah. I want to see the Mormon nation hit upon in previous games. I'd also think a Canadian faction would be cool. Especially considering the U.S. invaded before the nuclear war so maybe make them belligerent towards American factions

Just discovered Joshua Graham as I quit gaming to raise my child. Bought an Xbox360 last year as a way to dip my foot back into gaming and Fallout blew me away. Joshua is a def role model and whoever has the IP to him deserves the utmost honor in gaming.

this is probably the worst decision the Legion has ever made. throwing Joshua Grandma away only weekend in their military and failure is just an inability not everyone’s gonna succeed each and every time. There are Many things about the Legion I don’t like and this is probably one of the worst decision they can ever make.🐱

I've been to zion its pretty, its easy to get to the hiking trails because there is a tram system and no cars are allowed on the tram roads. there are a lot of easy hikes and some harder coolier ones. i did some of the easy hikes and some of the harder ones, on one I walked through a slot canyon
Just went through Zion last August. It was gorgeous, but the 100 degree death rays reflecting off every rock surface was too much lol

I could see Joshua as an more of an Orthodox Christian than a Mormon, though I’m sure if he had heard about the faith let alone knowing of its existence, he would have converted, “not expecting God to do all the work” was pretty much one of the Russian army’s core ideas when fighting the bolsheviks. Given the setting and region it would be pretty hard for that information to reach Utah post-war.

I must have miss s the lore in-game where it says Ulysses tells the White Legs that using their .45's would earn Caesar's pride. Like; I know the Legion's higher ranked soldiers use firearms, but I would expect a frumentarius to teach tribals that their bodies are the only weapons they should rely on. I dunno, strikes me as a "I taught him wrong, as a joke" moment.
That is true for most of the Legionaries brought up from conquered tribes. You don’t want to hand powerful weapons to the children of people you just tortured and murdered until you’re confident they’ve been sufficiently brainwashed. The White Legs actively want to join the Legion.

As a non-christian, (grew up Christian, stopped practicing in my early 20's) my respect for Joshua is fucking paramount. He's a depiction of how a Christian is supposed to be. He doesn't believe that other people's belief systems are something he needs to crusade against, because he has been a crusader. He understands that the best thing he can do is take care of his new people, and when/if it comes time to protect his people with his life if he needs to. He's reverent and devout in his belief, but he understands that his belief isn't going to be practiced by everyone and he's (moderately) okay with that. He just wants to protect his people.
