Mater Dei reminds me of old-school Bama. A very elite defense with an excellent run game. I think I've seen that Mater Dei has two top 10 guys in the country on their offensive line? Not having to rely on the passing game is a luxury.
And the best D linemen ranked like #6 overall or something on the other side of the ball, I thought SJB had the fasted overall D unit speed I'd ever seen last year but MD has 1 upped them all the guys look like they are moving in 2x speed lmao

I would love to see them take on duncanville this year from Texas, although duncanville is just a public school so it wouldn't really be apples to apples. Texas needs to make a private school and pull all the studs from the state. Then it would be on equal terms. But again, duncanville is a beast this year and it would be a great game.

Nagging injury from track season. He’s about 80%. But he got the last TD.
#0 is peeking too much as he runs inside, you can tell he has preference to bounce it out. However if he hits those inside concepts like his outside runs he will see more success inside and overall. They need him though.

It’s a scheme issue. Texas schools have big interior linemen and linebackers because most schools down there run between the tackles, pro style offenses.
The top California high schools are all running the spread nowadays. The speed of their receivers and backs is a matchup nightmare for those big SEC country guys. They don’t have the stamina to run sideline to sideline every play.

I know Texas rules don't allow it but the fans need to chill. The norm now is to play high level out of state teams to prove yourself. Even the guys that do videos put down Texas for not playing. Only way to prove it is to play.
Because mater dai is a select private school competing against public schools from Texas, you take the studs from all over the state of Texas and put them together and they would destroy Mater Dei. You guys have to understand the difference between a public school and a private.

Mater Dei is just much bigger in the trenches. Their athletes are equal level maybe even not as good. QB for cantennial could use some work on his pocket poise, but I’d have to see the film breakdown to see what he was looking at down field.
Cen10s QB is a better running back then a pass selection QB. He’s definitely got wheels though.

@@rahb2096 don’t think it matter what I look like that’s irrelevant considering I only compete at 181 and 198 🤷🏽♂️🤣 the players I’ve been seeing are not as developed as they once were like when ironically when Bryce young played at mater dei line look like a college line runningbacks too at the same time ig they RBs have been shifting to the pass catchers don’t see to many top backs being much larger than 200lbs these days in highschool don’t have the fournettes ,chubbs ,zamir whites, every other img back like 3yrs ago , the line backers lookin small not sure I seen in in the league I played in highschool too all the teams have got smaller even the powerhouse schools that had lower D1 talent ( disclaimer the team I played for was an undersized team bc we was D4 😂 all line men we had were 260-290 average running back was 185-190 ) but like I was saying every team seems to be smaller these days the last 3 yrs shit the team I playe. For the average linemen is 240 now and the average rb they’ve had is 150-160 just saying we had a small team already and we were playing D1 recruits just saying the size and development of players has become smaller

Per MaxPreps, yes. They started the season at 15. There is a huge falloff in Cali after MD, SJB, and Cen10. Mission Viejo is probably the next closest to those three, but that's really it. De La Salle has elected to not play the transfer game and has slid into regional power status.
Serra (San Mateo is ranked 29, Mission Viejo is ranked 31, Los Alamitos is 39, Long beach Poly is 50, Folsom is 67. There are a few more Parochial schools between them, Sierra Canyon, Rancho Santa Margarita, De la Salle, Orange Lutheran, JSerra. This is in the top 100 in the US
Nope Mission Viejo is top 25 as well. LB Poly will be too if they beat Gorman this week.

You can't expect to beat Mater Dei on big plays alone. Cen10 looked good. They're very fast. Mater Deinwas just a touch better.MD's running game looked good; passing game needs work. Defense was amazing. It seemed every time Cen10 advanced the ball on a long olay. MD would come right back back with losses. It's like bend and then break you.

The schools are literally across the freeway from each other. It's up to the parents, student and the opportunity that each school provides. There are only 11 starters on offense and defense.
