Before anyone says it’s because Russ has been around for a long time and everyone starts to wind down with age, geno is about the same age, and has been in the league for one less year than Russell. Coming from a patriots fan it’s really cool to see him grinding and wanting just a chance for the last basically decade and he finally got his chance to show everyone he’s a great qb.

Thank you for this one. As a Chargers fan, I’m still bitter about how they treated Drew back then. I was happy to see him win a Super Bowl. When they did him dirty I became a “closet” Saints fan.
As a Chargers fan, that’s the NFL. You have up and down seasons and struggle with injury, you’re gonna get cut. Yes they drafted Philip, but they weren’t going to start him if Brees was good. If you never saw, Brees and Rivers were friends still, they had joint practices and friendly competitions. Philip won some, Brees won some.
Like Herbert, they weren’t going to start him unless Tyrod A) Got hurt which he did under very bad circumstances (still don’t know how the doctor fucked that up) or B) he played bad, which he didn’t the first game
