I Ching and gender roles

The gender roles in imperial China were prescribed in the most ancient Chinese text I Ching or the Book of Changes. The hexagram 家人 or family members defines the gender roles clearly. Of course the roles have been modified over the long Chinese history as the Chinese society changes over time.
