The Philippine Military Academy is also situated there. Baguio was also known as the Pine capital of the Philippines because in the old days the city was littered with pine trees. Most were cut to give way to progress, The Americans actually coined it the summer capital because during the onset of summer the American civil and military officers go up to cool Baguio where they can continue their official functions conveniently and comfortably. It's now overcrowded because of influx of students, foreign and local. It has a large Korean population. As you might have noticed it's a young community.

during the old days baguio city was a very clean and quiet place.No traffic and not crowded.There were only few commercial establishments and private vehicles. It was the place where rich filipino families stay during summer.
Go to Camp John Hay. Its not a military camp but recreational park. It has 5 star hotel ,boutique, restaurant, golf course and walking trail etc. About 75 pesos taxi fare from your hotel. Visit Manor Hotel to see nice view from inside.
