    I made something pretty similar about 20 years ago for a friends dad.
    For work he reconditions classic car engines in his workshop. He has a 4 foot high 3 shelf racking running all along one wall. That's where the customers engines are stored while waiting their turn to be stripped and rebuilt, Or just waiting for the customer to come and pick the rebuilt unit up. Even in his late 40's he could still humph some pretty hefty engines onto that racking by himself, But age was creeping up on him.
    What I built used the same parallel links like you made, But had a drop step on the end that was big enough to pull an engine onto from the bottom shelf and move to a middle shelf so he could spin the table around and then drag the engine onto the main table section. I made large brass bushings and used ground rod (Cross drilled at the ends to take retaining pins) for all the pivots, And the ram came off an old engine hoist to lift the table. Worked bloody well considering it was 90% made of scrap metal I'd scrounged from work. :)
    In those 20 or so years I've only ever been asked to take a look at it once, And that was because with about 15 years of constant use it had worn all 8 brass bushings so much that the table top could be rocked 4" side to side on the slop. I made some more bushings, fitted new ground bar stock and added some grease nipples this time around. :D
    My mated dad will be hitting 70 in a couple more years, And when I asked if he had plans to retire any time soon I was told "Yes. When I hit 70 I've decided that I'm going to take life a bit easier........ So I won't be working on the weekends anymore". LOL ! Blokes a feckin' legend !

    Nice build and video. I did notice that the higher the tabletop got the more tilted it became. A suggestion: On the next Lift build you might want to go with a scissor design (X-configuration) with a screw drive. This will provide equal rise on both supports allowing the tabletop to remain level. Again, great work. Keep it up.

    It is a great project. I hope it did as much fun building it as I had waching it. I would upgrade it in the future with a motor. It looks like it takes a huge amount of pedaling to completly lift. It is definetly a very useful thing in anyones workshop. Tks for sharing.

    I like these build videos that rapid speed the simple stuff. Always interesting. The workmanship is professional.
    Never seen this particular interesting design for a lift table. The frame is heavy duty for higher capacity, but I still rather go with a more traditional scissor design lift. Would like the table to lower closer to ground.

    Great build. I recommend an air over oil hydraulic system so you can use your compressor to raise it with how much time it takes. Then you are more likely to adjust it every time you should rather than bagging it and doing without due to how long it takes to raise.

    Given that the hydraulic cylinder doesn't tilt much as you raise and lower the table, I would have tried finding some other size of cylinder or made some sort of extension so that it could be attached in a more vertical position throughout its range of motion rather than being tilted back. This would both 'be stronger in terms of the max load as well as for general stability of the table. I'd also find a different anchor point for the pedal spring vs the fitting- hydraulic fittings are pretty strong (they have to withstand the internal hydraulic pressure after all), but the directly coupled vibration from working the pedal could cause it to loosen over time and leak and it just plain doesn't look very good considering how well you built the rest of the table..

    Wow, that thing has RANGE! Does it go from your knees all the way up to your eyeballs? One thing you might want to add (besides AOH) is a hand pole for when your leg gets tired. Throw a 1" (25-30mm) conduit strap on the side and a screw through the angled part away from the foot pedal, facing up. When you drop a tube down the strap onto the screw, it will allow you to use your arm power. AOH is always more fun, though.

    This would be great for a expresso machine, as in a high dollar prosumer or commercial machine because if you were to elevate the machine then you could essentially fit any capacity liquid container under the brew head instead of small cups once you remove the drip tray from under the brew head.
    I'm talking about machines that are north of 2000 dollars a unit. That way something like 32oz thermos or those counter top thermos you see at coffee shops could fit under the brew head.
    Great for when you want to make say over 300 oz of express for snow removal crews in North Dakota for morale boosting when it's 30 below wind chill on a regular basis.

    This is a weird build to me. For how ridiculously beefy the table top is, the cantilevered lifting mechanism is single point and long armed. If this was a scissor lift mechanism instead, the table would be quite literally 10-100x as strong. I would replace hydraulic with screw powered and use a cheap cordless drill hooked up to it, and the trigger wires replaced with a foot pedal. Just a slightly different design would have something far, for more usable. Peculiar choices made on this project.

    • @xenonram
      @xenonram 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Far more usable" is a bit of a stretch. "... have slightly more capacity with the same amount of materials," would be more accurate.

    My only serious beef is using all-thread for shafting. The load goes onto the thread crests deforming them and wearing all out of proportion to operating cycles. A better choice would be round bar stock. If you can't thread it for a nut, cross drill it for a pin.

    Why did you go with this style of under frame compared to that of a scissor lift style? To my understanding the scissor style is more stable and can lift more weight safely. I was designing a lift table of my own and found your channel. By the way great craftsmanship.

    • @WorkshopFromScratch
      @WorkshopFromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scissor system is only more stable in the lowest position, the higher you lift the scissors, the stability becomes similar to the table I built, and secondly I wanted to build a table that would actually be eye-catching and look non-unstable. But it is really stable and the weight of 200,300 kg is not a problem for this table, the wheels will break faster than the structure

    • @johnnyrocket9372

    Simply amazing, how much does such a table cost, and will you produce others on request?

    Sensacional esse projeto, serviria como plataforma para cadeirantes com baixos percursos com valores muito reduzidos para quem não condições financeiras....parabéns!

    great piece of manufacturing - congratulations. I wonder if a pneumatic (air driven ram) might achieve the same effect. I have a disability so pneumatic are my preferred mechanism. Nothing wrong with your approach - it is great.

      Thank you :) If I knew that it would be allowed to lift slowly, I would definitely install a pneumatically driven hydraulic cylinder. During construction, I thought that the position of the actuator at the end of the center of gravity would greatly speed up the lifting, I was wrong :(
