- An instructional video of how to replace/update capacitors on type E crossovers from Klipsch Heresy 1 speakers. The older type capacitors are oil based capacitors and as they age, tend to leak and loose their effectiveness.
How do they sound post op? In truth, the highs sound a little "crisper" but nothing to write home about. These speakers sounded great in their original form and only did the replacement because one (original) cap on each board was leaking a bit of oil. I figured if I did the swap, I'd be good for many years to come. Pair the Heresy's with a good sub and you'll have a HT or reference audio system that will make everyone jealous.

That's some fine work! Very informative..
Very cool of you! Tanx
you're welcome..glad to help
I also did a capacitor replacement 1% 2uF poly 250 volt , in a pair of 1980 Heresy's.. I feel the difference is a lot , the highs are defined now with better detail between instruments, sibilants' is lower... In the passed I used the EQ to com down the highs , don't need it now..
Ohh, I have some Heresys I have had new since early eighties. I better open up the back and have a look and make sure there are no leaks. Did not know that.
Interesting. I have a pair of Heresy III's They are those 70th year special editions, those have components from 2018 (i checked the compression drivers). Bought those recently after IV was introduced. Like the sealed box better. Sounds sweet !
Well done sir ....thank you.
Good job 👍👍👍
I’ve got a pair of Klipsch H700. What else should I be looking for besides leaking capacitors?
How much is the cost? My forte II will be like that
I just order new boards .
Busy hands are happy hands. Idle hands, well, you know the rest.
😅😅😅36$ for a 200v mkp type 2.0uF is a joke.
