    I'm a former Triumph salesman. Globally the Street Twin was the best-selling triumph model. When I used to order used bikes, I could always find a used bobber or speed triple, or scrambler. But We could NEVER find used Street Twins. I always took that as a testament to the bike and how excellent it is. Triumph is going on 7 years of the bike, with virtually no major updates. Timeless design holds it resale value and is hard to find. All the pieces of a GREAT machine.

      That’s really great insight! I really enjoyed your comment, thanks for sharing. I have the scrambler 1200 and I would sell it before the street twin if it came down too it. Not to say I don’t like it, I just love the street twin!

Tail tidy/fender eliminator is next and then some mirrors and turn signals. I’m glad you’re enjoying the bike. We took some time to think about what we wanted out of it before starting our mods. We started with it as more touring style for the first 2 years and now it’s transforming to more bop around cafe style. Updates to come👍

    I have the 2020 ST 900, also in ironstone color (love it). Sometimes I regret passing up the T120 for the ST900, but I don't do much highway riding, so the ST900 is perfect! It's much easier to maneuver in city traffic than the T120. Many people wish it had a 6th gear, but with 5 gears, there's much less shifting. I added the side view mirrors, and the Triumph heated grips (which I highly recommend), but I don't like too many modifications that take away from its original look. Couldn't be happier with my Triumph!

    • @anthonyridesphilly
      @anthonyridesphilly  ปีที่แล้ว

      The T120 is a bigger better ride no doubt but the street twin has such a charm to it. I have the scrambler 1200 with a six speed and I honestly prefer the street twins gearing with the 5 speed. It’s a great gear ratio. Glad you are enjoying your bike. Happy riding!

    It is a shame we couldn't hear Jess, but it was still a great video and gave a lot of rider info. As much as you love the Street Twin/Speed Twin 900 maybe you ought to sell your other bikes and get you a Speed Twin 900. Then you would have his and hers. Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

    I bought my 2023 ST900 to commute to work - which is across town (large city in the US midwest). Surface streets only take a couple minutes longer than freeway routes (my office is due East of my home, and the two East/West freeways that could get me there are a bit out of the way to get to). The ST900 just eats it up and makes it very enjoyable. Turns a lot of heads too! And super easy on the gas! Always get to work in a good mood - especially since I'm going through old neighborhoods where I lived for over 20 years.

    Loved the review and agree with your comments. I bought a new ST900 as my first bike last November. Thoroughly enjoy riding it. Like you I've done a few long trips on the motorway - couple of 300 mile days - and the ST has been fairly comfortable. Gotten used to the wind. Your comment about some 'wobble' on the front end was interesting and got me thinking. I also experienced a slight wobble around the 30 - 50 MPH mark. I don't know enough about bike physics / mechanics to know why or whether it's a problem (it might have been the fact I had a fair bit of luggage strapped down at the back) but your comment has got me thinking. Enjoy the bike...

    • @anthonyridesphilly
      @anthonyridesphilly  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it, yeah the front end is sprung soft meaning it can bounce a lot. Which is great for city riding but at speed it can feel a little too soft essentially. Having extra weight on the back of the bike would make it feel more pronounced. We had a top box on the bike when we experienced it at its worst. It’s not really a big deal tho, just a characteristic of a soft suspension setup.

    Clicked on your review out of curiosity as I'm looking ahead for my wife's next bike. She just started riding and I got her a used Suzuki TU250X, which allows her to easily flatfoot the bike. It's also fairly light and its lack of power keeps her from getting into trouble. The Speed Twin's seat height looks low like the TU250's, and I like the upright riding position. If I ever see a used one, I might have to grab it.

    • @anthonyridesphilly
      @anthonyridesphilly  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed the review. I feel like the street twin is a very similar bike to the TU250 with the obvious power difference. But it would be a nice lateral transition for her in terms of bike ergonomics. This is why I made this review, I really think this is a great second bike. It’s fun and capable but nothing that would scare an intermediate or vertically challenged rider. Happy riding!

      None to note, we have put 10k miles on it and it’s running great. Starts up and runs like a Honda. I would say the front suspension is cheaply sprung and an upgrade to the springs would be nice. But the rest of the bike is quality.

    I have one and I love it, too. My only grumble is that I found the seat uncomfortable for touring. It's got a 'bead' along the edge that makes my legs very sore after a couple of days. Thinking of putting a King & Queen seat on for the long trips.

      She is 5 foot and 3 inches tall, so about 3 inches taller than you and her inseam is about 28. You might be on your tippy toes but the suspension is soft so that buys you a bit more leg room when you sit down

    • @anthonyridesphilly
      @anthonyridesphilly  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a more leaned forward position. It’s not as aggressive as the speed twin 1200 but as a boy I find myself sitting on my junk because of the bar position/seat design (it’s not a bench seat like the t100)

    Do different pads do anything for the sqeaky brakes ? Diff / aftermarket rotor ?

    • @anthonyridesphilly
      @anthonyridesphilly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly, I put ebc brake pads on my triumph scrambler and they don’t squeak. The stock brembo pads are the squeaky culprit. Some say a little high heat silicone grease on the back of the brake pad will settle the squeak down also but I haven’t tried this method. It’s a vibration thing between the pad back plate and the brake pistons.

      It can definitely handle the highway. We put a touring windscreen on it and took it 150 mile in a day. But you want to get off the bike and stretch every 75 miles or so. Your rider triangle is more sporty and the knees will get a little cramped after some time.
