No expense has been spared in the construction of this instant classic from Schuyler, featuring pleated corners, a one piece liner and impeccable execution. I have this in black as a full yap Quentel and it's certainly the most beautiful Bible I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch. Had to wait several months for it but it is worth the wait. Just plain stunning.

    Beautiful Bible. You just can’t go wrong with a Schuyler. Thanks for sharing.

    I pre-ordered mine about a month ago. It should arrive around the end of this month. I'm getting very anxious.

    thank you so much😊! What a beautiful Bible. Is a full yapp harder to use going back and forth as studying or not really? I love the look.

      It really depends on if you train the yapp or not. I usually leave my yapps straight, so it doesn't affect flipping through the pages. If you have yapp that is form fitted around the text block, yes, it could be problematic. I have a few older editions with stiff, bent leather, and Genesis and Revelation are hard to flip through. I usually pic up the remainder of the text block and flip through it separately.

    I have this Bible and it stays open perfectly in Genesis 1 if you just push the pages open gently.

    Where did you get the slips of paper you used to measure font sizes? They would be a great help to me.

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I typed up a page with the different font sizes, printed and trimmed it so I could easily compare it. I used Times New Roman because it's a font that most people are familiar with. If you would like the file, just shoot me an e-mail. My contact info should be in the about me section.

    That is a gorgeous red. I really wish they'd do a full yapp Quentel ESV with all red like this, it looks SO sharp. This shows just how well Schuyler can make a Bible.
    I prefer the drop caps in the RSV, more "elegant in simplicity." That's why I'd personally prefer five raised spine hubs. I wonder if they'll do an RSV Treveris with those drop caps...
    The review is very good, thorough with useful information. I like the comparison with the more "regular" Quentels.

      Thank you so much for the feedback! I hope Schuyler continues down this road. They have really made some excellent editions lately. I was really hoping for a NASB Canterbury, but they said it wouldn't happen. :(

      Strange that they haven't produced one yet. Hopefully it's just a matter of time.

    Huh. I wonder what the drop cap font is for the Nelson Sovereign since it's not Goudy Initialen. I thought for sure it would be the same as the Canterbury. (There's a reason I call it the "Canterbury Killer"!)

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did a quick comparison of the two, and the drop cap font is definitely different between the two. I was able to pull the name of the Schuyler font from a PDF they provided as a Sample, but haven't had any luck with the Nelson. They're all nice in their own way. I really enjoy drop caps.

    The website shows 1.1" with the Apocrypha and 1.0" without?!? How can over 300 pages be .1 inches?

      Schuyler's notoriously thin paper. 😆

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine is the first edition, so I'm not sure if they've updated the color to make it more red, but yes, it does have a very slight brown hue to it.

      @@RustyBibles Ah, ok! Thank you for letting me know. I’ll ask the Evangelical Bible also. Thanks a lot!

    What’s the point of the yapp? Is it page protection?

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Essentially yes. It keeps the edges of the page from getting dinged up and adds a layer of protection in the rain. I think for most, it's just a preference thing. I love the way a full yapp looks, but I know some who don't and others that say it just gets in the way of page turning.

  • @davidgagnon7806
    @davidgagnon7806 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK. I guess everyone else knows but what is a "YAP."

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  ปีที่แล้ว

      So yapp is the portion of the Bible's cover that hangs over the edge of the text block. Most books' covers edge where the pages end. Bible manufacturers added this feature to help protect the page edge when not in use.

    Trouble is, it has a handful of typographical errors. Oh dear. They need to withdraw the current ones on sale and make the necessary corrections.

    • @RustyBibles
      @RustyBibles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not worried about it. I worked in print for years, and understand that a flawless first run is next to impossible, especially with a translation that isn't heavily produced. I know Schuyler will correct what they catch in the next run.

    • @alanhowe1455
      @alanhowe1455 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RustyBibles I'd seriously avoid this Bible as it has typos, e.g. at Numbers 16:6 where it reads 'comapany' instead of 'company'. This would appear to be a problem with the RSV source text as this particular typo is found in another currently available edition of RSV which I possess. Strangely, this particular typo is not found in older RSVs - which suggests that errors have crept in at some point. Unfortunately Schuyler didn't proofread the source text properly before publishing their Quentel. So the question is: how many more typos are there? And why has the publisher of this premium Bible not devoted enough effort to ensuring that there are no typos? And why I should I pay Schuyler's price for a flawed product?

    • @όαγωνιστής-θ6θ
      @όαγωνιστής-θ6θ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alanhowe1455 because it’s easily the highest quality Bible of the RSV with the full canon available, typographical errors or not. And frankly, I’ve purchased books that are vastly more expensive than $200 with the similar issues. It’s unfortunately part of publishing.

    • @alanhowe1455
      @alanhowe1455 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@όαγωνιστής-θ6θ You're missing the point. This Bible is by any standards extremely expensive, yet the source text wasn't properly proofread in order to ensure that typos haven't crept in. I have a forty year-old Eyre and Spottiswoode RSV Study Bible (no Apocrypha - but that's not an issue for me) and it doesn't contain the error at Numbers 16:6 which features in all modern printings of the RSV - which leads me to wonder how many other errors there might be. Schuyler should have spent more time and effort on proofreading. After all, it's the TEXT that's more important than the fancy packaging!

    • @όαγωνιστής-θ6θ
      @όαγωνιστής-θ6θ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alanhowe1455 I think you misunderstood--these Bibles, in my opinion, are heirlooms, not just text blocks. I purchased it specifically for that reason, to be a high quality Bible that will last for my children and hopefully their children, not necessarily to be a workhorse every day Bible. If that is why you purchased the book I can understand your point. I'd prefer to not have those errors, but it doesn't bother me immensely either.
