    Great looking Bible. I’ve not read much out of the CSB. Maybe someday I’ll have a premium bible. For now, as long as I’m in the Word…
    Keep the content coming Tim.

    Another fantastic review. I know you were effective when I have to go get my other CSB's to examine and see if I can justify this one to myself as another purchase. That Tuscany Calfskin PSQ really stands out for me.

    The CSB layout has two qualities that the other translations don't. I think they're helpful:
    1. OT usage in the NT is bold!
    2. Proverbs/Wisdom literature has extra spacing between verses, making them easier to read!

    Been using the ESV in the Tuscan Goatskin for the past month. This leather breaks in really nice and is probably my favorite leather on a Bible yet. It feels great to hold due to the subtle texture and grip to this particular leather. One thing to note - if you tend to roll back the front cover when reading, the dark tone inside the Jerusalem cross will crack. It adds to the look after some time.

    Great review Tim. I wish Schuyler would do this in the NKJV, as a black text edition as I struggle with red. My absolute perfect version would be no references, just keep the footnotes, which would allow to make the font size a bit larger. I get my references from bible apps anyway so don't need them. That would be my absolute perfect bible. I love what they've done with the spine

    I've bought several of the older calfskin Schuyler PSQs that were not edge lined, a few for me and several for gifts. I like the edge lined goatskin ones better, mainly because of the more supple edge lined binding. I'm now wishing I'd waited on a few of them to get the edge lined calfskin. It's beautiful.
    I love the shading on the spine instead of gold. The Tuscany on yours does look too orange, at least on my laptop screen. You sort of never know what color you'll actually get, but overall their Bibles are always beautiful. When you get a good one, I think they've surpassed Allan overall. (Several reviews have mentioned defects which go beyond "imperfections," but except for color variation the ones I've received have been tip-top.)
    Great review, thanks.

    Great review Tim. I noticed Yours has the white scuff at the top of the spine near the yapp as well. Many people have that same scuff in the exact same place. That seems to be a rub, not a natural flaw. The fact that so many people have that in the same place makes me think it may be caused from the paper wrap being too tight. Not a complaint, mine is absolutely gorgeous and will patina beautifully. Wonder if you have any thoughts on the white rub on the spine?

      I agree. It looks too orange for my taste, but it might just be my screen although Tim mentioned it too. Schuyler needs to work on color consistency. I just bought a Firebrick Red which used to be a deep but true red, even more so than the photos, which still look red. The one I received is more burgundy (or something?) than red. Lots of similar complaints in reviews about the (not) red. And my Purple calfskin from a few years ago looks brown, as does the Marbled Merlot in reviews. Still lovely editions of the Bible overall, though.

    The one thing about Schuyler/EB that makes me absolutely mental is the constant selling out and then having to wait a year for the next batch. Almost everything they produce sells out or at least gets close to it.
    So just produce MORE of them. If you KNOW this stuff is selling out (and again most do), then just stock more.
    Having to diligently follow their social media and be on emails lists to know when something is coming back around again and pounce on a preorder like we’re buying concert tickets is beyond tiresome.
    The CSB is a perfect example. Just recently discovered the CSB and Wanted to get a Schuyler PSQ. Nope. All Sold out. And will be like 6 months before it’s available again.
    Seriously, it’s tedious.

    I can't take any translation seriously that is considered "gender inclusive". Next thing you know, there will be a translation without he's, and she's. Beautiful bible though. That Tuscany calfskin is top notch as are Schuyler Bibles in general. Love your vids

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for watching... and maybe you might reconsider that stance... because when it comes to Bible translation, gender inclusive language really has nothing to do with current conversations happening in the world around us and everything to do with trying to make an ancient language make the most sense in modern English.

    • @abc-wv4in
      @abc-wv4in ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timwildsmith I agree it has nothing to do with the trans movement (thankfully), but I'd rather have it translated the way it was written, and let me figure out if it means women, too. Always adding the feminine lessens the impact of the passages that really did say "and sisters." I'm a woman and I'm fine with "he" instead of "he and she" all the time. It gets tedious! My brain knows "man" can mean "mankind." (But that's a small complaint in the grand scheme of things.)
