    I have a few Platinum 3776s - they really are superb.

      I think I have more 3776s than any other model of pen. They are excellent.

    I like Music nibs. I have four different ones: Platinum 3776, Sailor, Franklin-Christoph and Taccia.
    The 3776 Music nib is my runaway favorite of them all.

      Good to know! I assume the Taccia one is by Sailor? Have you tried a Pilot music nib?

      @@BlakesBroadcast Yes, the Taccia Music nibs, both steel and gold, are made by Sailor. The nibs have a distinct and appealing shape and look that is different from Sailor’s nibs on their own pens.
      I had once tried a Pilot 912 with a Music nib. It’s a good one, but I chose to buy the pen with the Waverley nib instead.

    Great review 👌Thank you. I have had my eye on one of these for years so I really appreciate the review as I have never seen one. It has just got on to my must buy list.

    Nice review as usual. I have owned one of these for years, but don't use it much because I need XF nibs at work. I recall a comparison between this pen and the music nib pens from Pilot and Sailor. The Platinum came out on top. If you can get Platinum Mixable Aurora Blue ink, try it in this pen--it's beautiful.

      Thank you. Good to know about the Music nib comparison. On looks alone I think the Platinum nib wins. I haven't ventured into the Platinum mixable line yet. I will have to give it a try.

    Thanks for the review!
    A couple of years ago, I _REALLY_ wanted a music nib, as I prioritize high quality nibs over having multiple unique looking pens with the same nib. I thought that the Music nib, specifically on the Pilot 912, would be glorious! However after watching several over the years and knowing that I would just use the pen for writing quickly in my journal, I don’t think that it would be able to keep up.
    It’s an absolutely stunning and beautiful pen, but I’m glad that I haven’t bought it yet, as I want to try it in person first, before I commit to purchasing it.

      You are welcome! I would love to do a comparison with the 912 music nib as I have no experienced a Pilot music nib in a long time.

    I also love the flared and flattened shape of the nib which is unique. Their older urushi and gold flake models are out of this world with a click cap (rather than screw cap). The depth of design makes the pen look oh so elegant as well as the minimalist decoration - very Zen!

      Ooooh that sounds really nice. If you are able to link to a picture of one I'd love to see it.

    the 2 holes 2 slits situation of Century 3776's music just makes it seemingly more refined than any other music nibbed pens

      This nib is definitely special.

    Good review. I've had one for a while, with the translucent blue body and it's lovely. I'm not really a stub/italic writer so I don't use it a lot but I very much appreciate having it in the collection to use when the occasion requires it, or I fancy something different. It's a lovely pen.

      Thanks David! I like the music nib for writing thank you cards. It's a fun nib but wont be right as a daily driver for many people.

      Well! I think I'll prefer these to the pilot 823. They seem to write smoother. Of course the Pilot doesn't have a stub nib so it will take a while to get adjusted.
      The black one has Writer's Blood so perfect for grading papers!

    1. That 123 looks much better than in some other pens.
    2. That surely looks like Treasure Island behind you - are you in the Folger building or what?

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sailor 123 looks very green on Bank Paper. The look isn't specific to the pen.
      I am in one of the buildings between Folgers and Hills Bros. Coffee.

    Music nib are for writing musical scores. Here is a video that shows what music nibs can do and how they are used.

    Do you know is the down stroke on platinum wider compared to Pilot Music nib or not? I got Pilot 742 with music nib and the nib is a bit too wide and thick for me. I want some stubier nib

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I unfortunately do not have a Pilot Music nib. The Platinum would definitely be considered a double broad in terms of width.
