This is the biggest project I have taken on, The bike will be completely stripped down to the frame, the engine will be removed for new piston rings to be installed, the wiring harness is going to be rewired and the entire bike overhauled, ready for spring 2020....I hope.

Thanks for your videos! I've been customizing a 1996 1400 for about 3 years and about 2 months ago I bought a 2004 for a parts bike (dirt cheap :-)). It only had 16000km on it and the engine was black so I decided to pull my motor and swap it with the 04 engine. your videos were a BIG help and made it as easy as possible! Cheers.

Really makes you appretiate the engineering that goes into such a fine machine. I remember when these bikes came out, the big selling point was keeping the bike clean and streamlined by hiding most of the modern working electronics and various parts that normally stick out. A team of U.S. engineering advisers worked with Japanese engineers to make it clean and uncluttered. That is one big motor. I have an 87 700 that's motor looks tiny compared to it. Great video! Really enjoyed it. Thinking of repainting my bike so i would have to do this too. One step at a time, right!

@ maby next winter, have a lot of work ahead but nr.1 is to remove all the wiring and put som simple "chopper" wiring if its possible.. You done with your wiring yet ? I can text you on IG, a bit easier 👍

Quick question - where does the clutch cable (not the hydraulic line) feed into on the transmission - wasn’t on any of your tear down videos that I could see

  • @AY_GO

12:33 i recently discover that my bike just have 1 of that 2 bolts on each side of the frame (is missing the top one). Now, i'm confuse if that both bracket are meant to fix the engine to the frame or in other way is just using the engine as strucutre to fix the brackets...!!! Can you informe that if the missing of one of that two bolt on each side cam be a problem to the engine fixing to the frame? or if it's irrelevant? Thank you in advance fr any help on this 👍✌

    Question. Does a 2000 Suzuki VL 1500 engine fit a 1999 1500 VL bike.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Saif, I am afraid I don't know, I own and work on a 1400vs Intruder not a 1500vl. But if I had to guess, I would imagine a 2000 VL would fit into the 1999 frame but I would recommend you check online. There are lots of VL1500 forums to check out :)
