@macmobilestudio holy cow man that was way more than I expected some days we are humbled by others these are one of those days for me. You have my gratitude sir thank you
Hey I couldn't post again for a couple days for some reason but I don't know if you noticed I donated again on the same day so you got some more money on your cash app
Thank you soo much, so far I cleaned the rear carb. Pilot jet was clogged, front carb to be continue. But i have to say it was very easy and just by cleaning the rear carb alone makes a whole difference in how the bike idles. So thank you soo much and god bless.
If you have a carburettored motorcycle, always turn the fuel off and let it idle till it stalls out, its a good way to help stop the fuel going all gluggy inside the carburettors and the float bowls, and can potentially extend the life of the carbs, another good piece of advice is always check the fuel condition inside the fuel tank, especially iff the bike has sat for a long period of time before starting it.
My only suggestion is to not put the slide and top back on until after you clean the bottom part!, when you spray and blow, stuff can get lodged back up in there, so assemble the whole thing after cleaning, awesome video!, very good commentary throughout ❤, I have a 87 1400 I got from a neighbor, hasn't been ridden for years and I am going to be watching this a couple of times before tackling t job!😮😅❤
Im trying to pluck up the courage to clean my 94 1400 intruder carbs getting backfire and surge flooding aswell it's only done 20 thousand miles.wish me luck before i gogo
Hows this bike coming along? I Just got a 2000 1400VS Intruder, I think this vid will come in handy, I did the same type cleaning on my Marauder, I was able to access everything while still attached
Excellent video I never even considered doing my carbs without removing them but I’m glad I did! She runs great now after sitting 3 years haha they looked about as bad as yours did.
Awesome video in every step and the explanation to what and why , you need a tripod for your camera to free up both hands. Peace. This bike has been sitting around for a long time but still you have a pretty good find., love this make and model, easy owner maintenance and will last forever.
Depends on how I'm feeling I normally strap my GoPro to my head but when I'm trying to get close up shots and be able to work with my hands I need to be able to move the camera around not have it on a tripod it can be frustrating filming this type of stuff for people especially when all the stuff is hidden underneath bars and other things putting a camera on a tripod and putting it in front of you while you're trying to work makes things very difficult
I inherited my dad’s 2003 1400. Only has 994 miles but has sat for over 3 years. I dumped the tank, new plugs, new battery but I can’t get it to fire. Fumes smell like the varnish I dumped out of the tank. Thanks for this video man. Hopefully I can duplicate what you did. I’m not a carb guy but I guess I’m going to learn on this bike. Haha. Did you film doing the front carb?
If it smells like varnish you definitely need to clean everything thoroughly matter of fact I would remove the carbs and have them brought in and serviced
@twodogs257 based on what you said how about varnish that would lead me to believe that there's a lot of internal lines and stuff inside the carb that will need to be deep cleaned due to corrosion and varnish buildup. In my humble opinion I would suggest removing the carbs and taking them to a shop for Servicing. Sitting gas becomes varnish which obviously is the ethanol content damaging the internals of the carbs. My suggestion to you would be to have them service properly. If there was just a little gas in there and it still smells gassy but it's been sitting for a small period of time then I would say give them a shot at cleaning
Just be gentle do not pull hard on things. The biggest mistake people make is they pull it out and then they start wrenching the thing in all sorts of different directions putting tension on the cables. just be gentle
Turn on compressor take hose connect the hand held blower and Blow all the trash out of the spray it a couple times, then you know you did it the Right way
Should i buy one that needs “carbs” cleaned? Im buying my first bike pre owned and dude listing it says it needs battery new tires and paint plus ofc the carbs cleaned only 800$ what yall think
No part 2 because one of the cylinders on this bike was dead. Yes I got it running but one cylinder only had 20 psi it wasn't worth pulling the jugs and replacing the parts I paid so little for the bike
@@IFixShet oooh that would be a good first step.Checking compression first before attempting to clean carbs Bike does exactly as this one and I know gas is bad when I drained it it reaked 😂
@@macmobilestudio I mean I trusted the person I bought it from who said it had good compression because I've known them for a while so I didn't feel it was necessary
@@IFixShetHey man I just got my rear carb all cleaned yesterday afterwork thank to this vid.Pilot jet gummed up solid.Soaked in Berrymans B12 and cleared the jet.All slimy and gunky.Drain screw wouldn't even drain due to all the gunk. Now on to the front carb thanks!
their is really no substitution for pulling the carbs and running them through an ultrasonic cleaner. beats having to clean them again if it isnt done right. and really its easier to take it apart on a bench with good lighting. setting the float height. Its really not much more time to just do it right.
OK well mine sat for a number of years and a quick cleaning and driving down the road with no issues I would only pull them And have them cleaned if necessary Don't create more work for yourself unless you absolutely have to. This method literally takes 25 minutes to figure out if you need to Send your carbs off or not

@@IFixShet hello, i just did it and it’s the same processes as the intruder, the only difference is the difficulty to remove the carbs because of the tightness
@@mohamadali.h4754 So here's an easy thing to remember if you have backfiring out of the exhaust type it means that 1 of your cylinders is running rich or both if you have popping coming out of your carburetor that is a lean factor. So for whatever reason your bike is getting too much fuel the raw fuel is making it out of the exhaust and then igniting at the end of the tip

Rebuilt mine using the same process. Saved a lot of time and hassle.
It definitely simplifies things for sure

Random question was your choke down by the seat or up on the bars, looking to replace my dads and i keep seeing conflicting places on year ranges.
If I remember on this one the choke was by the seat

I think you will have to rejet your carburator And tune it after you're done
