  • Im not too sure why but i've never shared these secrets on youtube before, but I know it can help so many of you who are looking to increase your driving distance.
    Ever since in started playing I always had the ability to drive the ball farther than most, and as I improved and my handicap started to drop it became almost like my 'super power'. As i leaned into this more and developed this skill I found myself being able to generate some fairly decent speeds, so I wanted to share with you the key moves that I focus on to help me do this.
    The 4 key thoughts are actually quite simple, easy to focus on and non technical so no reason why you can't implement these into your game right away, they helped me consistently driver the ball over 375yds and so i know first hand that they work!
    The 4 moves are in mindset, takeaway transition and impact, improve these like I did and you will see some serious gains in your driving distance.
    As always i'd love to hear your thoughts so ask any questions in the comments and ill get back to you

    Chris, this is one of the BEST videos you or anyone else has done. I'm sure you're aware of the intense competition for eyeballs by skilled golf instructors on TH-cam. Your videos are right up there at the top to demonstrate technique for all manner of shots. But this 12 minute video covers a topic and demonstrates a progressive technique to "let it rip!" when you're teeing off on a wide open fairway. I'm quite certain many amateur golfers like me will very much appreciate what you said and demonstrated. THANKS!

    Great video Chris. Thank you as I can relate 100%! At 50, even though I’m the same height and weight and actually stronger than I was in my 20’s, everything else ages (except both of my hip sockets are both only 10 years old) and my driver distance has reduced slightly. That being said I’m happy with 260-275 metres from the tee. I can’t reach long Par5’s in two shots anymore and I’m ok with this as my main focus has shifted to the scoring irons to help ensure just one put.

    I was lucky enough to see Chris hitting the driver in person. That was really impressive. The sound was that (for some reason) only pros can produce. Actually, this "100% sweet spot" sound impressed me even more than distance. A different league, in short.

    Hi Chris,
    I’m 75 and recently started topping the ball when driving, I mean consistently topping it, destroying my game. This despite raising tee height. I’ve always hit the driver very well in the past and got to 10 handicap in my younger days. Nowhere near that now😢

    Agree with a lot of tips. However, and ive said this on other videos. Almost all of the longest hitters on the PGA tour have pretty slow backswings...cameron champ, jake knapp, gary woodland, luke list... incredibly slow takeaways. Sometimes this can have the effect or feeling that you have to activate the lower body to generate some speed, which in turn results in the downswing starting correctly with the body before the arms and hands.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Yeah absolutely, plenty out there who send it with slower moves away, but when it comes to maxing out speed generally faster is better, go up a level and look at the long drive competitors and there are no slow moves away to my knowledge, but always swings that buck the trend

    • @GRIFF22
      @GRIFF22 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ChrisRyanGolf I think it's probably better for the long drive guys, but not sure if it's the best way to attain high 170 or even 180 ball speed . Remember there are 13 other clubs to play with, no point sacrificing the whole bag and swing for 15-20 yards

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Well yeah I certainly wouldn’t advocate this with a wedge or short iron, or even say that you ‘must do this’. I can’t control who watches these videos, so is it wise for them to work on this or not? I don’t know, I believe this to be accurate info and movements that will add speed but ultimately it comes down to the viewer to make good decisions on what is good for their game

    Hey Chris! When you say swing harder where is the club speed coming from? Is it your body rotation, hip rotation, setting of the trail arm wrist, or just old fashioned arm speed?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Personally for me it’s everything, faster backswing, faster downswing, faster hips, arms, club etc. that first point is a little more of a mindset rather than a swing change, it’s just having the intent to move faster

  • @ronharrington8659
    @ronharrington8659 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Chris- 3&4 were good, but showing by lifting the grip, caused the club to move more, was better. As I’ve gotten a lot older than you, I started using what you’re describing. It’s helped me with more solid contact and distance. I tend to hit a higher ball flight as well, as I tee the ball a little higher and hit more up on the driver… Something that may help some of the experienced golfers watching your channel, that are even beyond 70…..

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question, these aren’t positional thoughts but concepts. Technical swing thoughts such as club face here, shaft more vertical etc can reduce speed or make it more difficult for you to achieve max speed. I’ve tried to create this video with concepts and visuals, so yeah I guess they are swing thoughts in a way but I’ve had so many success stories using these ideas and most are able to move away faster, slam the foot and jump, but everyone is different so may not work for everyone

    funny how some launch monitors give you 40 yds roll out,the one I was driver fitted for only gives you 20yds or so.. I play in Tennessee where it rains all the time..lucky to get 10 yds roll..At 3:27 into vid you swung at 110mph and got 267yds carry..I was swinging within a mile or 2 swing speed,similar spin,smash,launch and only getting 255yds..makes no sense

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That can also depend on ball, launch, spin, curve etc so those do play a part. If you are getting fitted though as long as it’s like for like it actually doesn’t matter too much, they generally all should be very accurate for launch, spin etc which are the key numbers

      @@nataliedeyton6829 could be all sorts of factors! Maybe the shaft is too heavy maybe it's too light maybe the balance point is too high or too low set the balance points too low the club head will feel way too heavy and if the balance points too high the club head will feel way too whoopy. Equipment is an absolute Game Changer and doesn't get talked about enough in the right ways. For example most of the drivers today the head weights are very high yet they still sell them at a swing weight that's like D2 or D3 even though it's 45 inches long. Many Pros nowadays actually use high balanced shafts or counterbalance shafts to offset the weight of the head so the club head can feel a little bit lighter. For me personally my swing speed was literally topping out at like 97 miles an hour with the driver even though with the irons my club head and ball speed was not very far off from professionals. Literally just by changing the driver shaft the swing speed went from 97 to more around 1:08 extremely significant difference. So my point is with topping the ball it could be the length of the shaft it could be the weight of the shaft it could be where the shaft kicks it could be the balance point of the shaft there's so many factors
