The western slope of Colorado is a treasure that most us who live there try to keep a secret. But, we welcome everyone to come enjoy it, just please keep it clean and work to protect it, as Brit and Kevin both mentioned. Every year more and more trails get closed because of abuse from visitors. Great Vid!
The beauty is that there are tons of wilderness lands to get happily lost in if you're willing and able to park your rig and strap on a pack. God didn't just give you two feet for accelerator/brake and clutch! 😁 But don't forget the poncho and bug spray!
After 31 years of being into Jeeps/off-roading, I finally made the trip from the Alabama Gulf Coast to Ouray, and then to Moab. Black Bear Pass was my first trail "out west" and like Kevin said, It changed me. Now, I want to make going to the Colorado/Utah area a semi-annual thing. Thanks for showing everyone these spectacular views and inspiring those who will travel to them!
Fell in love with Telluride and Ouray in 1972 when we stumbled onto it. It's such a shock to see Telluride in recent years. In the seventies it was just a tiny town full of hippies and antique stores. I was there one year during the bluegrass festival and I remember my grandfather commenting "I don't think there's one bra in town". He could be pretty funny.
The wife and I had our wedding in telluride, then we completed Ophir, engineer, yankee boy basin, corkscrew and last dollar pass! It was the best week of our lives. We think about returning next year all the time! I felt the same way you guys did, the days also feel longer there. We didn’t wanna go back home!
Thank you for the PSA about "Stay the Trail", that is SOOO important everywhere and needs to constantly be said since inconsiderate people still do it. It's like in my profession with over 1 million employees where we have to constantly have this certain type of training multiple times per year and many complain about. Well, we have to keep giving that training because people are still breaking the rules.
Yeah, we do our best to talk about it every so often on the channel. Especially because “stay the trail” isn’t really a concept in a lot of off road parks on the eastern half of the country. So a lot of times is just a matter of education (people just aren’t aware of the importance of it, or how fragile the ecosystems are here, etc).
Black bear pass is definitely stay the trail. As a 5th generation Coloradoan we live by it. We started a local clean up organization "Focus on the Forest" Tri lakes & Woodland Park on both sides of Rampart Range that helps pick trash, graffiti removal, restoration of the trails shooting ranges & disperst camping. This is our 4th year I believe.
@@LiteBrite As a rock climber in SoCal, I also have to thank you. Our two activities (climbing and Jeeping) are generally not the friendliest toward each other, but I see a lot of similarities. We try to practice the Leave No Trace principles as best as we can for climbing/hiking. We appreciate your PSA as well. Good land stewardship means things will stay open, hobbies can be fun and our kids can enjoy it for years to come. Stay safe!
@@ruger8412 In my area north of Phoenix they're (BLM) trying to close down close to 350 miles of trials. In the Sedona area they're looking at closing down trails and going to a permit requirement. The only reason for this is folks are not taking care of the land/trails. Some of the shooting ranges on BLM land have so much trash/brass that it would be a very difficult task to clean it up. Let's take care of it before we loose it all. I'd like to see my grandkids to be able to enjoy the great outdoors like I was privileged of seeing.
I lived in Colorado for most of my life and didn’t know how special it is. I watched lots of vlogs of it but never been. Probably not as bad as you it’s still a 7 hour to 8 hour drive. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks you guys!
I’ve been watching your videos on and off for about a year or so now mostly for the build and race content. However, after watching your vacation/“travel blog” video I have subscribed. You as a couple remind me of my wife and I 20+ years and 8 kids ago. We loved wheeling in AZ and all the surrounding states. Your down to earth demeanor, off road knowledge, and hardline on respect of the trails and echo systems are the same as ours were ‘back in the day’. Before Covid and this failing economy we talked about building a shop and a Jeep but now are fast becoming ‘preppers’ and waiting for things to change for the better. We’re in eastern PA now and awaiting the day when we can get back into the fun of off-roading. My wonderful bride and children will never be an excuse but ALWAYS will be the reason so I thank you for keeping the dream alive and the reasons in my heart. Looking forward to more of your “travel blogs”.
Wife and I honeymooned up there camping out of the back of my Frontier Pro4x with a RTT setup. Didn’t get to explore as much due to avalanches (in June! lol) but everything we saw was beautiful for sure.
Thank you for not overstating Black Bear Pass. So many talk about how horrible the trail is. Your recognition that it’s mostly mental is refreshing. Great video of the most amazing off-road place in the world.
@@bdkrma911 disagree. The steps are only a problem if you stare at the drop off or try to stay farther right than is necessary. Mentally tough, maybe. Technically tough, not at all.
My husband and I loved this video!! We drove to Ouray from Iowa in 1978 in our new 1978 Jeep CJ 7 and we went over all the passes that you mentioned even Black Bear and loved it! We went again in the early 80’s and drove our 1979 Jeep Cherokee and went over Black Bear again with it!
A vacation..........from the vacation that is our life........pretty sweet reflection! Thanks for all the beauty you shared with me tonight. Took me back to magic moments where I've been and where I've yet to go! While I'm stuck here at home in coastal South Carolina, I am driving in the clouds, gapping the Aspen groves, traversing the timber line, mounting the summits!!! WHAT A HOOT !!!
Been to Ouray several times now. It's my my favorite as well. So much so I had to share it with some of the most important people in my life. We guided a bunch of folks and their jeeps from our club in Missouri and I proposed to my fiancees last August on the steps of black bear. Ouray always has a part of my heart.
I moved to Colorado because of off-roading and Jeeps and all of that. My hobby has taken me to this part of the country, of the world, because of exactly what you guys have said throughout the video. Absolutely amazing in this state.
First crossed over red mountain as a kid in 1983, been in love with the area ever since. Lived in Montrose for 16 years then moved to Ignacio. Been up their 3 times this year, something about it just soothes my soul, ran wrecker up in the san Juan's for 3 years. Winter summer don't matter absolutely love it up on the mountain.
I was in the San Juan’s last year, what a beautiful corner of America! I drove 17 hours from Iowa in my TJ, so many stories and friends made on my trip. Going back in 2023
Brittany, I have been watching your channel for a few years now. Since I bought my used JK. Two main reasons. You and Kevin are the only Utubers I have seen to film the off road parks near me in PA. And Brittany, you are the best spotter I have seen! Keep up the great work/fun!
We have some family land in Montrose and absolutely love heading out there from GA every year. Wheeling up in the San Juans is truly something else. Not challenging, besides overcoming fear of heights, but they are my favorite "trails". I actually started, never was an offroader, wheeling out there with airport rental Jeep's. So we just had to score our own JLUR after 2 trips out there. Usually are there for July 4th but pur newborn baby girl kept us away this year, can't wait to share the experience with her.
In the mid 80s, the Las Vegas Toyota Club discovered the Telluride area. We traversed Ophir Pass, Imogene Pass and Black Bear Pass. It became an annual event - first year, 7 vehicles and 5 years later, we had 21 vehicles. Awesome!!!!
I used to drive to Florida or Nashville TN for a roadtrip to get away, but I made a random trip to Telluride (I was in sales at KIA and was selling Tellurides nonstop so I wanted to see the story behind the name) and had no clue what I was about to see. I have owned a few lifted Jeeps, but took my gas saver car out to Colorado because I had no clue what to expect. I was blown away with the view, the shops, the people, the places for food and drinks! I was going to move south, but now I'm thinking this area may be my new home for me and my trail toys! Love the channel!
Black Bear is hands down my favorite trail. Period. Until i got a Jeep and spent a week in Ouray, Zion National Park was my favorite travel destination, but now that i've been able to take some of these trails, it is my favorite destination. I can't wait to finally take my lady and her kids to experience this amazing place!
Great video about my back yard! You're right. There is something about the San Juans that just hits you deep in your soul no matter how many times you go there. Kudos for talking about trail etiquette. We want people to visit and have a good time but don't spoil it for everyone else. Also I was looking at Plan B the other day. Dan and his guys did a great job on it!
Great video you too! The area is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for spreading the word of trail etiquette and keeping the land maybe even a little cleaner then it was found!
Brit, another cinematic masterpiece. You put these videos together with a skill unsurpassed by any other channel I watch. Always an absolute pleasure to watch. Fantastic! Keep up the great work. Glad you two got some "me" time.
Awesome video. One of your best. I have lived in Colorado since 1984 and have never wheeled the area. We are finally doing the 5 badge of honor trails this coming week. Again, one of your best videos. Thank you!
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I sold my Land Rover before my wife and I met, and I am really hoping to someday be able to show her the amazing views you can get on these trails.
I visited the San Juans 2 years ago to complete the Jeep Badge of Honors & absolutely fell in love the the area. It so beautiful & I cannot wait to get back there this weekend & be out there all of next week!
Some friends of mine and I hit this area up last yr and it was the best ever. My son was 12 when we went there and he drove most of the trails in the area. Love that place!!
Been loving the San Juans since the late 1960s and you would not believe how much prettier it was in the 70s and 80s...a period of much more rainfall and no pine bark beetle kill off. But in spite of a drier climate and tree kill it is still our preferred corner of Colorado. It hasn't been ruined like the front range and the ski resort areas accessed by I70. So, shhhh, don't tell the whole world....but guess I'm a little too late! Thanks for a trip down memory lane....
Nice to see the Stepchild on such a chill, vista-rich tour rather than a chassis crunching, nerf bar bending deep woods trail. Her new Hemi Big-Block sounds great.
The FSJ club just celebrated their 20th year of 'invading' Ouray and the surrounding trails. FSJ are the old 'Wagoneer', 'Cherokee' and J trucks. I've joined this group at least a dozen times and never ever get tired of doing these trails. Thanks for sharing!
Imogene is probably my favorite trail in Colorado. Love that area and spend at least a week there every year. Imogene just has it all, views, some obstacles, shelf road, river crossings, etc...
GREAT VIDEO!!! We recently moved to Colorado because we fell in love a few years ago. It has been a life changing decision and we look forward to exploring everything this beautiful area has to offer!
I did Imogene pass in 2019 from Telluride to Ouray in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2.5L and a Blown right rear Nitrogen shock and about 150 lbs of camping gear in the back, BEAUTIFUL TRAIL AND CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!
Love the video, nothing does justice to the beauty all around there. Been going up there since the 90s and your right, it never get old. I recommend middle of September to see all the colors from the trees and flowers
Got to meet and shake hands with you guys while you were in Telluride getting ready to eat some great pizza. Decided to see where you guys are now and then found this video of yours. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the PSA on trail etiquette!!! Thats just the worst! If more folks and renters know and follow these directions we will have these gorgeous views to look at for a long long time. We've been coming to SW Colorado's San Juans and camping for about 15+ years and we've done all of these trails over and over again - IT JUST NEVER GETS OLD! It is so beautiful. Thanks again for all the great content - love watching you guys and laughing too!
Thanks Kevin and Brittany for taking us along on your beautiful vacation trip. Yes it was top of my bucket list of places to see before I couldn't. As of last week I was just put on hospice due to losing my fight with cancer. I was trying everything I could to make it out there to see every trail I could. Was even looking forward to doing some fishing while I was out there. Maybe in my next life time I'll get a chance to. Was praying that some day I would run into the both of you and get you to sign my glovebox. I'm sorry that I'm running out of time here. #999bombernation #litebritenationforthewin #positivevibesonly Keep trailing Kevin and Brittany. Thank you for all of your beautiful videos and thank you for sharing them with us. #cancersucksbadly
We’re so sorry to hear about your situation! ❤️ We’ve both personally have lost someone to cancer, and you’re right…#fuckcancer. But we hope you keep fighting & we get the honor to meet you someday! ❤️
I'm sorry for the bad news, but doctors have given me less than 90 day's left. I'm from California and I finally took off from work to travel up to Washington state to do some wheeling. Because of your videos of the trails up here I'm very blessed to see the P.N.W. I'm a huge fan of mother nature. Just seeing your video of your vacation trip. I wish I had a chance to see the trails in Colorado. It's been a bucket list of mine to see Moab Utah. I honestly can't thank you Kevin and Brittany enough for always sharing your trips with us. Just keep living your lives to the fullest, and yeah cancer truly sucks badly. Hopefully soon I'll no longer be suffering in severe pain. I've been praying for just one more year here so I could travel a little bit more, but I've run out of time. I honestly can't thank St Michael's cancer treatment center enough for the time I've gotten this year. But I'm ready to stop suffering. God bless you Kevin and Brittany for all of your badass videos and positive vibes. God speed you 2.
Love it! Grew up around Telluride, I absolutely love this area to the bottom of my heart. I will have my ashes sprinkled on Bridals Veil falls. I will be up there in my brand new Badlands in 3 weeks!
You guys touched a lot of people with this one. Nice work! Those trails are dear to me too, like a lot of the subscribers here - I've been raised there since '84 and my first time driving anything was in a CJ-7 on those passes (weird how we all feel the need to note our connection to the San Juan's after watching it). Great filming and editing work. Love you guys, keep it up!
So true. That place stays with you forever, no matter how far away you go or how long you've been away. We are connected to those mountains, for life. My grandfather used to take us wheeling on those passes in a crazy old Toyota Land Cruiser, back before Telluride was the popular ski town/millionaire haunt it is today. For anybody that remembers The Underdog, I know you feel me. 👊 I spent countless hours in there playing pong and eating ice cream after spending weeks camping in the mountains.
That is definitely one of my favorite trails from when I lived in Colorado Springs. I did Black Bear Pass and Red Cone in my 2007 Dodge Ram Powerwagon with, get this, some Australians visiting the country for their first time! It was awesome!
I lived in Rico for a minute and spent all my childhood summers up there in them mountains. Absolutely amazing place to be!! Thanks for bringing me back guys!!
I've had a jeep for quite a few years and done small offroad things here and there. Got into your channel with the new bronco comparisons. Went back and watched through all the videos. It was your first big video about black bear pass that made me decide to upgrade my jeep and hopefully get to Colorado eventually. You guys are amazing. Thank you
Being a native to western Colorado and not living far from Ouray it’s nice to visit on a regular visit. For anyone who is a John Wayne movie fan. The opening and closing scenes of True Grit were filmed on Last Dollar road and the rest of the movies was filmed in the Ridgeway/Ouray area. Great video.
My first trip to that area was in 1982 with our Ford Fiesta and I fell in love with the area. Two years later, I was back with my recently purchased 82 CJ7 and I have been back every year since. And I still have that 82 CJ7. What a stunningly beautiful area, and a really fun habit to get into! I was there the previous week and we had much nicer weather than what you two experienced. The wild flowers on Imogene were amazing!!! Thanks for sharing this video.
While I don't live in Colorado. I live in a place that is probably much more forest etc. But it's a good reminder not to take it for granted. I did have to laugh a little at the deer. I see deer every day. And it's easy to forget that is not the norm for most people. Thanks for telling people to respect the trails and nature. I don't think people mean to litter and destroy nature. I just think people have bad habits from living in cities. And they take them With them without thinking about it. Thank you for picking up others garbage! Keep up doing great videos!
Beautiful locations, definitely on the top of my bucket list. Some of your earlier videos about this area is what got me into this lifestyle, full-stop. Thanks for sharing again!
You should have run up to Silver Basin. The trail starts just west of the bridge where Imogene and Yankee Boy split off. The lower lake is crystal clear blue with wild flowers all around it and is just beautiful.
One of the best places on earth. Haven’t been in a long time, but have made the Jeep drive from Lake City Co. to/from Silverton several times. Just fantastic!
Awe, just missed you guys. I took my Bronco out to Ouray to pop its off road cherry. Left there on July 18th. Ouray is my Heaven on Earth. I LOVE it there and go at least once every year.
What a way cool video!! Thank you for keeping our mountain crisp and clean. Everyone else should adhere to the way you guys respect the trail, and how u guys are at represent it. My new best friends I have never met, but some day we will meet on the trail of happy ness.love brother devo.

The shot at 12:30 makes the step child look like an rc car because of the mountains. Love my beautiful state and that area!
Beautiful as always. Colorado is definitely on the bucket list. Did Brit just say "Slipier" 5:51😂
Brittny beautiful as always and the views were amazing thank you and Kevin for taking us along
Been there several times it never gets old. Love that area
Haven't even started it and I like it based off the IG pics. Amazing scenery!
Headed to Ouray in September so we're really glad you guys did this video! Can't wait!
Live in Colorado, this video is spot on….it’s well worth the trip….
Love that place. Went there last year for a week and rode all the trails on my RZR. Our whole group still talks about it.
Wow , thanks for sharing the view !
This is a bucket list item for me now. I've been to the mountains but only to snowboard and vacation never to off-road.
Finally again a video that's fun.
Since your channel grew it's been more "Lifestyles of the rich and famous" then good outdoor fun.
Yep new bucket list.. I hit moab in 2022 and now looks like I'm going back to Colorado 😁😁😁😁😁 thanks brit and Kevin.. light brite nation all the way...

Keep trailing Kevin and Brittany. Thank you for all of your beautiful videos and thank you for sharing them with us.

So Happy Poughkeepsie is back open we missed it last time we were there a couple years ago. Now we HAVE TO go back! It looks beautiful.
What a cool low-keyed video. Nice.☺ You two are awesome.
Love it! Grew up around Telluride, I absolutely love this area to the bottom of my heart. I will have my ashes sprinkled on Bridals Veil falls. I will be up there in my brand new Badlands in 3 weeks!
Totally agree with you guys on the area. It is breathtaking! Super fun and tons of history!
Silverton is one of my favorite stops!
WOW I LOVE this video!! Respect the Land!
Simply beautiful and amazing.... wonderful scenery and sights.... egarly awaiting your next video....Safe travels
The views are breath taking that's for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I used OnX off-road the entire time I was in Ouray and Silverton. The off-road mode worked perfectly!
Thank you very much about the trail etiquette, it is never said enough.
And thank you for the beautiful drive.
Love it. Not always about the trail. Mostly about who you are with and having fun. Gigem
Just picked up our 22 JL.... We hit Ouray every year, BEAUTIFUL!!!
What a masterpiece!!! This video is so superior in every way, shockingly shocking. Thank you
Beautiful locations, definitely on the top of my bucket list. Some of your earlier videos about this area is what got me into this lifestyle, full-stop. Thanks for sharing again!
Great video. I ran into y’all last week in Ouray and saw the Stepchild parked in Telluride. I agree, one of my favorite places to go.
Agree 100% - it’s heaven on earth up there 🤘🏼
You should have run up to Silver Basin.
Been on 3 of 4 major trails in the 1980s in my 1978 Land Cruiser. Never did Black Bear. San Juan mountains are fantastic. Thanks you guys it sure brings back memories.
Great content, beautiful place, thanks, I'm enjoy every minute
