I enjoy your shows on a regular basis, but this one was exceptionally good.

Great show as always. In my industry it’s a same thing. People don’t realize tooling, set up, QC, testing, etc. have significant cost involved. It’s always more cost advantageous for our customers if they can commit to higher volume.

Good point. Yep it’s the same in mine, we even have counterparts in the industry that have ‘in house’ hardware!

As Mr McConvil says, feelings are at the heart of it. Hard to explain them. For example, I previously felt that Nicholas's watches were a bit too expensive. However the new one looks very good to me. Weirdly, all of a sudden, it seems totally worth the money.

Sorry I couldn’t join yesterday. Regarding value, in my perspective a lot is determined by youtube influencers. They will judge whether a watch is too expensive and most viewers will follow their opinion.

Thats a really great point, we didn't touch on that.

Watch industry nerds: hmm, when a person buys a watch they are buying a history, an aesthetic, a narrative; they want to access the brand, and they buy into the brand values, the design, and the marketing which affects their perception of the brand, it's perceived value, luxury, and attractiveness as a value proposition, hmm.
Me: ooh, 5000M WR depth rating. Need.

Pete doesn’t seem to understand a wrist check. Picks another watch up and ignores the watch on his wrist.
    😂

what was on my wrist was a garmin - not a watch.

High Art, antique furniture, vintage cars and vintage watches all suffer from that somewhat snobby perceived added value of “authenticity” that doesn’t fully make sense to those outside the collectors’ world. I understand original condition and its value if something is truly old. A laser scan printed reproduction of a Vermeer isn’t valuable compared, especially, to the original oil painting. Wouldn’t you rather have a working vintage watch that has been serviced than one that has seized from rusting internals, but is otherwise untouched since it left the maker? Oh, don’t repair the chair that is missing a leg as its genuine Art Deco and George VI’s footman’s neighbor took the leg for firewood during the Blitz. It’s as if people pay a premium for impracticality so long as it is “real” in their eyes.

Agreed, his connection was lagging a bit so it seemed like we were talking over him. It was not intentional!

@CasualWatchReviews no problem. The way him and @MyWacthJourney break down the numbers and cut through the BS is so refreshing 😌
