My dream watch in college was the Omega Seamaster 300 Automatic in blue. I couldn’t justify the $3000.-$3500. Then time passed, I graduated, got married, bought a house, had children, finish graduate school and am now divorced. But I never lost my first love, which was that Seamaster.
When I got divorced, I realized I always put others before me. (Family, Wife, Children, Work) because that’s what men do, right?So now, I plan to buy that new Seamaster in green. I feel that same youthful love again.

My first watch was a Timex when I was 4 years old. My parents promised that i could have a watch as soon as I was able to tell the time. That started a love of timepieces that has lasted 60+ years so far
Drink break question…it’s gotta be Omega. I cannot think of another watch that I never worry about. My Seamaster 300 Chronograph is 22 years old. Outside of the servicing, I’ve never had an issue. Not one. It’s been in the sea. It’s often at work. It’s even in the yard on Saturdays, doing all the yard work with me…not one issue. The best money I ever spent on watches. Nice First Episode. I really enjoyed listening.
It’s about effing time someone made a podcast like this! I’ve watched almost all of the Bark and Jack episodes and Adrian is a big part of my decision to pull the trigger on my Pelagos!

Great first episode! The first watch that got me into watches was the first generation Apple Watch, once the battery failed I started looking for something more serious. The watch that got me seriously into watches was Tag Heuer Carrera Twin Time.

The watch of my first love was the Grand Seiko SBGN005. I was born in Nagano, where Grand Seiko and many other Japanese watches are manufactured. I was so much in love of the Zaratsu finish and its 9F Quartz precision. BUT once purchased, next day I fell in love with Tudor BB58. Japan watches are great I am proud of them for sure, but Swiss made is still a big value😂

The first watch I ever fell in love with was an all black Citizen Eco Drive that my parents bought for me when I graduated highschool. When I got to college I started to hate wearing watches due to my peers always picking fun with comments such as “nice watch what is it a Rollie?” I got a comment on it in the campus library’s Starbucks and after the interaction I took it off and put it in my jacket pocket. That was the last time I saw that watch. Someone grabbed my jacket off my seat back when I went to the restroom. Of course I was pissed so I looked to make a rage purchase on another watch. Doing the research on a new watch is when I really fell in love with all things watches. My savings account is now named Piano5711 just in the off chance I never have to dip into my savings and I can afford one. Love the show men keep it up.
The Explorer 2 Polar. It's my adventure watch, my travel watch. I was visiting my best friend after two years of pandemic. I mean, i go hiking, gravel riding, camping with this watch. It was all fine. I went to re-arrange the deck furniture (metal) and just barely touched one of the chairs... chipping the crystal at the 7 marker. very small, need a loupe to see it... Its my adventure watch and it finally has its first scar. It occupied my mind for a full week. Now, its back to full adventure mode. Still love it.
I have been into watches for a long time, but the first real love was a Seiko 5 ref. SNXS79K that I bought off Amazon back in 2011.
Then came the SKX, then the G-shock.. and more recently the Tudor, then the Grand Seiko.. and now I am DOOMED LOL!
I still have it and I regularly go back to it with an immense sense of satisfaction.. I am positive that I will suffer more if I lose that watch than any of my other watches worth at least 50 times its value.It got me into the hobby, and I never looked back.

I was at university and was studying for an exam. By the time I finished it was 11.30 pm and it was a rainy autumn night. I just wanted to get home as quickly as possible so I biked at full speed on my way home. When I finally entered my neighborhood and was a few hundred meters from home I crossed a tram railway and some how the front wheel got stuck in the tracks and I flew off my bike like mad hell. I could have gotten injured really badly but luckily I was quite alright. That was until I noticed my 214270 Rolex Explorer was beated up like crazy. Plenty of chips in the crystal and the bracelet and case was insanely scratched..
There will always be room for quality videos. This-is-quality-video! I could listen to it for hours. The richness of the speech, the superior quality of the guests and the host, the simple and effective decor, I don't see what could be changed. Anyway, anything with Adrian is always a great idea. More please. As for me, my love for watches didn't even start with a watch as such but with... Producer MIchael's passion for it, about 2 or 3 years ago. Then i saw a youtuber wear a blue dial watch with a brown leather strap and my faith was sealed.
My first watch love was a Tag Heuer 2000 quartz, stainless steel, black dial that I got as a college graduation gift from my parents. Just loved that pop of green and red on the dial logo, and also on the dial: a simple “professional”. I really thought it was a professional tool dive watch. I regret to report that several years later I was mugged by a group of guys in a dark alley and they took that watch.

The watch that made me fall in love with this whole hobby was a citizen dress watch. My father bought it for me before my final high school exam when I was 17. I wore it for the exams, it then came with me throughout college and then 5 years of dental school and now my working life. Whenever I am about to take an exam or if I feel like I need a bit of luck on that day, I always go for the citizen.
Fortunately…touch wood…I have yet to have a BIG accident wearing any of my watches. The lugs on almost all my watches have endured plenty of scratches from constantly switching up straps however.
The watch that was my true first love was definitely my Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph that I was gifted to commemorate and celebrate my 18th birthday back in 2008. 14 years on, 4 battery changes, unpolished bracelet and 2 TH rubber straps later it still sits proudly in my collection.
For me as a 90s kid growing up in the Omega era of James Bond I have to say Omega (I’m sure Pierce and Daniel would not turn down a 6538 mind you)…it also started my love for the Seamaster which then became my first automatic watch gifted to me on my 21st birthday (there’s a trend here…I can’t wait until my 40th 😆)

I had a family friend pass, and their mum gave me and my brother £50 each for Xmas. Said it was from her son, so we both said in our early teens (if that for me)

Thinking £50 was like Rolex money at the time.
I got a pulsar chronograph, in about 45mm
Now, a skinny lad with such a big watch looked a bit daft, but I adored that watch I wore it all the time.
I still have it, 10+ years later and still wear it from time to time.
Amazing how these simple objects capture us so much, and how they get us into the hobby.
Thanks to that watch, I'm not mental about watches and currently saving for a 1960s Omega Seamaster.

My first watch love was an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean - similar to the one hung on the wall behind Adrian's head!
I didn't wear a watch until my mid thirties when I found myself in a store trying on watches just to kill time. This watch never left my wrist until some 10 years later when I could finally afford another, a Speedmaster. Thankfully my watch love has now developed beyond Omega thanks to TH-cam and channels like B&J sparking a wider appreciation for watches. Great first episode BTW guys, enjoyed hearing your watch stories and looking forward to more.

I once put my 1962 gold IWC 309a in my trouser pocket, and it went through the washer and the dryer. Eventually had it restored for as much as I first paid for it, because I loved that watch so much.

The first watch which got me into it? The Bond Omega in Tomorrow Never Dies. I wanted that since I was 13 and bought everything that looked similar until I could afford one age 22, and bought the 2220.80 😎

@@michaelriera6277 Haha it was on the brushed part, so I used some ScotchBrite cloths which got the bulk out. Lucky it wasn’t on the Rolex symbol on the clasp.

The reason why I am into this rabbit hole is a natural attraction to watches but things evolved.
I remember I loved a pilot quartz citizen I had in elementary school (which I still have) as a cool gadget… then at my first job I noticed on an older colleague a Reverso: I was in love with it’s function … but didn’t want to spend that money on a watch back than.
After that a couple of years later I saw a Franck Muller Casablanca, just loved the uncommon style with those kinda of a Willy Wonka numerals, the engraving “masters of complications” and did some research and discovered the crazy hour function: that was love for the mechanicals.
Still didn’t want to spend that much money on a watch but it followed me for I think three years… then I got married and as a wedding gift my wife bought me a Casablanca with cream dial and green numerals: when I opened the box I loved it.
That’s it, I am one of the few that can say: it’s my wife’s fault 😅.
These watches are still with me with many others but didn’t yet buy a Reverso… I keep a grail that I don’t buy untill some thing very special happens.

On the day of the arrival of my Trilogy Seamaster 300, I took off my Speedy FOiS and dropped it on the kitchen tiles.
The custom hesalite crystal (usually it comes with a milky edge saphire) was shattered and the watch was kaputt and stopped ticking.
It did kinda spoil the arrival of my new Seamaster. But I looked on the bright side and the milestone NWA positively overshadowed the temporary demise of my Speedy.
But the "best" watch accident story will always be from Bruce Williams though who left his Air King on the roof of his car and forgot about it and it got run over and was totally FUBAR...
Terry from Toxic NATOs (UTE now) bought it off of him and had it repaired, but with all the signs of destruction still left.

Couldn’t wait for the podcast to drop and man you guys did not disappoint! My first ‘serious’ watch was an omega speedy that, on the day I picked it up flew off my wrist due to a faulty spring bar and glided face down along a pavement and into a road full of rush hour traffic. As it disappeared under a bus I felt like a complete idiot for all the time I’d spend dreaming of owning it and all the money I’d scrimped and saved to get it, now wasted! Unbelievably I was able to retrieve it and the second day I had it it was back in the Omega workshop for a full crystal replacement, case repair, and treatment for shock to the movement (not to mention a replacement spring bar). Andrew’s story really resonated with me as I beat myself up for weeks as I waited for the watch to be returned to me, almost sure I was just going to sell it on and rid myself of the bad taste in my mouth. However, years on and the same speedy is still at the heart of my small but growing collection and gives me so much pleasure when I do wear it. As George said in the episode, it’s not about the money, the branding or the prestige, it’s about the stories watches tell us and the way we see ourselves in them! Keep up the fantastic work guys, can’t wait for more coffee and chat! 👍

I kinda get the impression that Daniel Craig's Bond was subsidised by the UK Government. His first car was a Ford Mondeo and his company car owned by the British Government was an Aston Martin. I know he won the Aston Martin DB5 at a card game, but I actually think he got MI6 to pick up the tab for the servicing via company expenses. Therefore, I actually think he is an Omega Aqua Tara guy.

1. I took my daughter to skating, I'm the master, she's the apprentice, I fell first, my wrist leans back, snaps the springbar in the bracelet. That I didn’t know until I checked the watch (the crown stabbed the back of my hand), so I pulled up the sleeve of my jacket and the watch flies away onto the ice, face down and there goes the bezel too.
2. My first watch was a Casio Moon Graph (GMW-15). I loved how the little stars moved with the seconds, the display of the Moon was awesome, it just showed me that watches can be endless fun, while being practical.
3. Bond for me is a Rolex guy. When Omega stepped in the Brosnan era, the product placements got so harsh and hurtful for the eye, that it did not do justice for Omega. As you guys mentioned, it was like Bond driving a BMW, and he did in Tomorrow Never Dies. With the plans to reinvent Bond, I think he should be a Tudor guy in the upcoming movies. :)
4. The most beloved watch I have is the one given to me by my dad. He was never into watches, but when he learnt of my growing enthusiasm for timepieces, he gave me his own right away. It is a Casio Beside and will never leave the box.
A small humble advice: stop drinking Gin from a mug! :D

Damn fine show guys! The first buy was PAM111. Saved up and sold almost an entire collection to get it. I loved the hell out of it, but ultimately it wasn't until I impulse bought a Sub, but found out later that what I purchased wasn't just any sub, but a factory service dial 5513. I remember sitting in the car after getting it and just staring at it as if it was glowing and that was the true beginning of the love. I loved watches before. My family was into watches, I received my first mechanical watch at age 7 and always loved watches, but it wasn't until I held that sub that I really felt the sickness take root.

My first watch was a birthday gift from my father in 1966, a 37mm Caravelle dive style watch with a “water resistance” on the dial of 666 Feet. (Of course I still have it !) What followed was a series of quartz “dive style” watches, until in 2000 I was doing a lot of work in electrical substations and wanted an automatic watch with enough magnetic resistance to survive all the electrical fields. Of course I purchased the ubiquitous Seiko SKX……and so my slide down the “rabbit hole” began !

My first love was an Omega Seamaster 36mm white dial with a polished steel bezel purchased new in 1992. I gave it to my son who wore it for several years until his untimely death. Never was able to find it after that. Two years ago I was searching the gray market sites for whatever and boom, there it was at a dealer in Japan. I immediately bought it. It's now my wife's every day ware. Great to have it back even though it's not the original.
Bond is actually a Rolex guy. In essence, and in truth, Bond would have worn Rolex Milsub on a grey nato. And, the discussion between Omega and Rolex requires and entire episode :) (please make this happen gents!). Fantastic content - well done chaps and please keep it coming!
@Mike Kamler - Omega has real military history, Bond was a naval guy; Omega was not chosen on a whim, the brand was chosen specifically because of its history and how that fit the character of Bond more realistically.
Or the more likely choice, a Royal Navy omega seamaster. Or some variant of that, as omega has a longer relationship with the British armed forces
My late grandfather's TAG Heuer 2000 professional (Quartz) was my first love!
I still remember him wearing it at night and explaining me the luminance! I was so amazed!!! I also remember when he gave it to me (I was 14 years old)!

The watch that I am in love for the past 1.5 year (since I bought it) is a SEIKO spb185ji which has the same tool watch vibe with the TAG Heuer 2000 😅

My gateway watch was a Zelos Swordfish, #19/20, that I bought as a graduation gift for myself. My parents then told me that they wanted to cover the cost as their gift to me, and from that point onwards I was obsessed. It's mostly thanks to Adrian/B&J that I have this passion, and I can't wait to see how this podcast grows!

Got a Rolex air king from my father. Did nothing for me. Inherited his datejust. Did less for me. I always wanted a nice watch but these were watches I couldn’t get excited about. I sold them both and bought a JLC Polaris in their stead and that watch with its pedigree, display movement, amazing blue dial and lack of ‘big branding’ was the winner for me. Been a watch geek ever since
No way is bond an omega guy. To sit at a roulette table in Monaco wearing a Rolex is palatable. Omega? No way. He’s a naval commander so vintage submariner is what I’d expect to see on 007’s wrist

I first fell in love not with a watch, but with a "watch moment". I was a young boy sitting around the table in Bisbee Arizona with my uncle, and he took his small watch collection out, and we washed each one together (I think OCD and watches go together 😜). I can remember removing the bracelets, hearing the subtle sounds of the watch links, and being surprised when my uncle ran the watches under warm water and cleaned them with a tooth brush. I can't remember a particular watch from that moment, but I can remember being amazed by all the little details.

For B.Y.O.I you should look into Christian Lass. Master watchmaker who has even been head watchmaker for the Patek museum as well as working with other major brands. After moving back to Denmark he now makes and sells watches in his own name. All done with old/vintage machines. And yes they are very expensive watches. :-)
My First True Watch Love was the first watch I ever bought for myself and that was the Fossil Big Tic Blue Dial. I wore it all Senior year in high school. Loved the animated numerals of the dial. Still have it til this day, almost 20 years later. Cheers gents.

My dad bought 3 of these in the 80s while working in Kuwait, he has one, my grandad has one and my uncle has one.

Bought my first automatic watch at the end of 2020; a Seiko 5 (dress SK/SRPE67K) in black on a NATO. It made me fall in love with watches and I wore it everywhere with countless different straps. I smashed it on a turnstile leaving work within a year. I was prepared to pay over the price I bought it for to have it repaired but the amount became ridiculous. I could buy the same model but it wouldn't be the same. My daily wear is now a 2014 Omega Seamaster (no wave dial) in black and I absolutely love it. But I still mourn the loss of that Seiko. Great first episode btw!

Not my first, but the one that really got me into watches was given to me by my father-in-law... 16613 Submariner, it's been all over the world with him... its bashed, scratched and scraped but still looks fantastic and one of my most prised possessions. In 2019 I got a Pepsi at retail, two weeks later at work I brushed it against a rough concrete wall while just being in a hurry & dented the bezel. I still have the dent and with time its weathered down, ill never polish it in my lifetime though 😄 Give me one of those T shirts, looks pretty effin rockstar for a big fan of the new channel ❤
For me it was 1984 and Seiko Data2000. As a kid, this watch was so cool to own and it had a detachable keyboard that the watch clicked into. It was finished in Matt Black with a LCD display for the win.
I was in love with my Tissot Classic Dream T-Classic. Got it for my 20th birthday. At that time I thought it was luxury, and had no insights about the difference between quartz and mechanical movements. Still have it, still love it, even though it's now surrounded by thousands pounds of premium and luxury watches.
Love the format and your cool studio/watch-dudes man cave. The first watch(s) I fell in love with were those issued to me by the USAF. They gave us a G-Shock which I believe was the DW-5200C accompanied by an analog Tag Heuer stop watch with flyback function. This was in 1989. I still have the Tag Heuer, but the G-Shock is long gone. The Casio's multi-functionality as it relates to aviation was a real treat because there were some older aircrew members at the time who had been issued a mechanical Benrus Type 1 that behaved like it was many moons past it's service due date. I don't believe the USAF had any watch makers on hand to service these watches so they were either put in a drawer or upgraded for the "new" G-Shocks. Looking back, I now wish I could have been issued that Benrus due to the proliferation of G-Shocks today and the scarcity of the original Type 1s.

Wait until you start making some income, it will be all downhill from there. You will make many mistakes, as we all have, and that’s a good thing because you cannot learn from other people’s mistakes

First watch love was probably a Tag Heuer 4000 Automatic on green shark skin strap. The split logo was the appeal and my wife bought it for me as a wedding present. The love for the watch lasted much longer than the love for the wife 😁.

I'm with George on the drink question. He may have been a Rolex and Bentley guy in the books, but he's an Omega and Aston Martin guy in my head now.
Also, Bond used a Rolex (although not a Submariner) in the books because that's what Fleming wore, but the original Omega casting choice made sense considering the history between the Royal Navy and Omega.
The Tag F1 was the one that got me hooked as well, the same watch as George had, sold my original and have since bought another one, will never wear it but I love looking at it, can remember buying mine at Makro in Cardiff for £175 plus vat I must have been around 13 so had saved a few months paper money to buy it.
Was obsessed with it and obsessed with the Tag logo I drew it every time I was doodling in school.

It’s funny I had gshocks & swatch’s throughout grade school but once I got Tag Heuer Formula 1 in junior high It made me appreciate watches as more than a fashion accessory. My first luxury watch was Chopard Mille Miglia which I bought during college years - always loved the linage between cars & watches

Really enjoyed this. I’ve been in need of a good watch podcast style show and this massively delivers. Watch that got me into watches was shamefully a fake Rolex GMT Pepsi - the fact it had a sweeping second hand got me researching and then taking the thing apart and becoming fascinated. Bravo on the content chaps.

1985.. As a member of the British military I did an exchange with the Italian Commandos and yes I was to get my introduction to Panerai as a number of the guys wore them. I fell instantly for the aesthetic and the history when l was informed about the watch. To this day I love them they are my all time favourite and are the only watch I have connection with emotionally. Other than the Seiko Tuna saturation diver which I owned throughout my service, which sadly got destroyed during the 1990 Gulf war 😢 I am fortunate to own the panerai trilogy +1 irrelevant of the controversy around Panerai, they are for me, the watch. The worst thing to happen to Panerai? Was the day Stallone discovered them.
My first watch was a Timex Expedition when I was about 10 or 11, and I thought I would love it to death, but much like every 10 year old, I was more in love with the idea of a "new thing" and hardly wore it. Fast forward to college and my dad shows me his watch collection consisting of a 90s Seiko 7002, a vintage rally Seiko 6139, and a Citizen Skyhawk. Being in Engineering school I fell in love with the mechanical movements and the insane engineering that goes into this little machine on your wrist and fell deep down the rabbit hole on ebay searching all the time for cheap vintage pieces but wasn't able to find anything I connected with, but the first watch I ever bought on my own was a new Seiko Turtle. It didn't leave my wrist for about a year, but growing up wanting to be an astronaut of course I was destined to find the Speedy. I did tons of research into it and the many special editions and updates and what have you, learning about the watch world along the way, having known about Rolex and that about it, I was fascinated by the entire universe I had no idea about just two years prior. After college I was able to scrounge and save enough to get my hands on a Speedy Pro, and it's gone everywhere with me whether it's on the wrist or not, I've been in friends weddings with it, had so many memories in it and absolutely fell in love with watches with it. Now a full watch box and a half later, I can look back on my Speedy knowing both that I've attained my grail but also that it was the gateway to this wonderful world.
That is so different from my dad and grandad, but the same reason...One an mechanical engineer and other a electrical technician, they stop wearing mechanical watches to use only quartz watches because of the same perspective of the insane engineering of the movements !

When my son was born, I bought a Seiko SKX with the idea that I’d wear it and give it to him when he was older. Foolishly I let him play with it when he was a toddler to distract him whilst I was working (thinking it was like a mechanical G Shock and unbreakable), to my initial dismay he banged it on the ground putting a rather large dent into the corner of the lugs. Now a couple of years later, and separated, I wear the watch when I miss him and look at the dinged lug and it brings me immense happiness.
As a side note, I bought myself a Seiko Turtle a little while later so that we would have father and son watches, until I realised the serial number of the Turtle placed it built in the same birth year and birth month as my son, so now he is getting them both at some stage in the future.

After the "McGregor" Swatch which was my truly first watch, the watch that made me crazy for watches was the same plastic, glowing Tag F1, I still have it and wear it after 32 years. Seiko Kinetic was first...powered by wrist movement, no battery? WOW!... I was 16 years old in the mid 90s working for $4.10 an hour at a chinese restaurant washing dishes. I saved up $350-$450 and bought it and loved it. I got into an argument with my mom and she mentioned it and how "i think im better than them" and I chucked it over the building behond my home... I actually found an exact copy a few months back and bought it again. It now sits here on my desk as a reminder. I do remember it being bigger though lol... guess my wrist was smaller back then.
I dropped my 14270 on a concrete floor - the worst 2 seconds of my life … I chipped the edge of the crystal but that chip I adore I have had that watch 5 ish years and the chip is the way I know it’s my watch.
