This is why I didn’t get babysitters or allow anyone to take my kids anywhere. I didn’t put them in daycare. I cannot imagine! I stayed home and took care of our kids while my husband worked. It was financially tight, but we wanted them to be safe, healthy, and well-adjusted. They were! So so sad!
Having a babysitter picking up an infant on some days but not on others creates an opportunity for mistakes that can’t happen. An infant should only ever be in his or her parent’s or grandparent’s car.
Unfortunately this happens more often than it should. It is hard to figure out what happened. It certainly wasn’t deliberate. I think she forgot she was babysitting her that day, even though she picked her up. The poor baby hadn’t had a diaper change or any food for 5 hours, so I think she forgot somehow. Too sad for everyone.
@hockeymomWA a lot of heartbreak and anger from the community. I remember seeing it on the local news the day it happened. I could understand maybe going in for a few minutes and realizing the baby is still in the car but 5 hours? ...
I watch my great nephew and another little girl. I know where they are every minute, even peeking in when they nap to make sure they are ok. The greatest responsibility you take on is taking care of a child. It is unbelievable to me that she did not check on this child for 5 hours. Something is not making sense here. Rest in paradise sweet baby and condolences to the family❤️
Why didn’t she plead guilty and take a plea deal? How she made this family go through another trauma with reliving the death of their beautiful daughter during the trial is beyond me. Selfish and only “crying” for herself.
What was the plea deal? I don’t understand!! If she admitted she left the baby in the car what does she expect to happen in court? I hope she knows she’s going to jail and none of this will change! Putting the parents through this torture is unbelievable 😢

The lady whose children she was watching testified she was vomiting, hyperventilating, dry heaving and urinated herself. I believe she went in to find her a change of clothes
How is she not screaming and freaking out!? More worried about herself. Shows no one will take care of your kids like you will. It was hard to quit working outside my house but I’m grateful I was there to raise my own children.
I have a feeling Stacy didnt always approve of Rhonda bringing Ariya as well. Thats four kids to one adult. I think she left that baby in the car to hide her from Stacey with every intention to go out and get her once Stacey left, and she just forgot.
@@Ashplayzzzzzz yes, she said it was fine for her to watch the baby at her house. I wish the prosecutors would have asked her if Rhonda would normally bring the child in right away or if she sometimes or always left her in the car.
It annoys me when I hear these cases and defense lawyers and even some commentators say “IT COULD HAPPEN” . It makes no sense to me. Women wouldn’t forget to get their pocketbooks out of the car.. even if it was in the back seat. (I put mine behind my passenger seat). How does someone forget a human being?!!
Hours later when she is being interrupted she is more controlled. Years later she is on the stand hyperventilating and crying without crying and wiping dry eyes. Even moaning crying from her defendant seat at one point. Not saying she meant to hurt the baby, only that she is putting on a show in that court room.
I find it interesting that when she was on the witness stand being questioned by the prosecutor she emphatically stated she did not remember the child was in the car until several hours later from the time the mom put the baby in the backseat? She says something very different when being questioned at the sheriffs office, she says she noticed the child was sleeping when she got to Stacy’s? There’s something very odd about this woman and I think there’s more to the story.
She is way too calm during this interview. I’m a nanny and I can’t even imagine how devastating this would be. I’d be a puddle on the floor, she’s chit chatting like she’s out to lunch with a friend
She has finally calmed down some to be able to talk to them. On scene she was distraught! Hyperventilating, vomiting, sobbing uncontrollably, she peed herself, etc..
NO FLIPPING EXCUSE! So what if you wake a sleeping baby from their car seat. So what if the baby cries because being woken up. It’s your 1000% responsibility to ensure that baby you’re caring for is safe and well! She’s guilty AF!
It seems like they think it’s a “logical” reason to leave the babies in the car if they are sleeping…..and then to forget about them until it’s far too late. Too many stories that begin that way.
"Didn't click" = forgetting a baby in her car Then, her lawyer asks her if the baby made any noise to alert her she was back there. Wow. Talk about nerve.
I don’t understand leaving a baby in the car. Although I don’t have children of my own yet, my baby sister was born when I was 14 (I’m 24 now) I’d care for her every afternoon and night. When I started driving at 16, I’d take her with me on errands to the grocery store, gas station, laundromat, etc. On top of looming tests, ordinary school stressors, and many other distractions, I didn’t forget. My mom didn’t forget, my dad didn’t forget, my family didn’t forget. To hear “forgetting a baby in the car” is a common occurrence just confuses me
I know, right?!!! She even had contact with the baby's mother AND another relative of baby and THAT didn't ring any bells!!!! It doesn't make sense. I don't think she killed the baby on purpose, but she definitely must pay for her severe negligence.
If I did that I would not want to live. I would not deserve to live. I started babysitting when I was 14 years old and cared for an infant 6 months old and continued to care for years. I would not forgot the child. I stay with the baby even when they are sleeping. I either sit in the rocking chair or stay in another room and make sure the baby doesn’t wake up or need anything. I was just a kid and this woman is an adult No excuses! That is your job and she is more important than YOU
This is unfathomable. Who forgets a child in the car. Why she was allowed to refuse refuse drug test in the circumstances is bizarre. Also...how is she dressed to be questioned y the police??... short shorts??? Was she hoping to go to a picnic after? Crazy.
Omg, judging her clothing. Give me a break. So glad you keyboard lawyers, cops, and judges aren’t educated enough in anything to be in the position to be in charge. If you opened your ears and tiny brain you would have heard she urinated on herself. That’s how a mess she was.
"It"? Her name is Ariyah and she's not an it. Geez man use better choice of words. She was this couples only daughter and everyone else's children are alive and well. They are suffering and if they read these comments, I am sure they wouldn't want her referred to as an it. While you may be right in your assumption, I think it was careless to refer to their little baby girl as an " it".
This is so heartbreaking. As someone with ADHD, this is my biggest fear. I am constantly getting distracted and forgetting what I was doing. I wonder if she also has ADHD. It would make sense that children love her if that’s the case too. :(
I was diagnosed at 50. After starting medication, it's incredible how much it has helped improve my memory, focus and overall ability to think and follow through on things. It's not a miracle, just a tool, but one that I've found to be genuinely useful.
Distracted is one thing but FORGETTING an INFANT in your car even AFTER mom of that baby is texting you checking on her baby is TOTAL BS and NO EXCUSE!!
I think she thinks they will buy her story if she doesn’t have a lawyer, or she wants to fish for information on what will happen next. She wants to control the narrative.
She looks as if she is mildly sedated. From the moment the video started with her husband there, she did not move an inch. Not a hair on her body moved. And her speech was slightly slurred. if she is taking prescription drugs or any drugs, it will make her forgetful and slightly out of it. It is very odd that she just forgot about the baby when that in fact was her main task of the day and the reason she is there, but why would she want to kill the baby? Unless she is a psychopath.
She was sobbing uncontrollably, shaking, hyperventilating, vomiting, peed in pants, etc. this interview was a little while later.. by now she was probably trying to compose herself as best as possible to actually be able to fully communicate as she really wasn’t able to before..
Her only "job" was to take care of the baby. She texted the Mom and was on snapshot chatting with the sister of the Mom...... there are no excuses, AT ALL
@yunnyww I thought the texts and Snapchat was to the Mom of the other kids whose house she was in, and not to Ariya's Mom. I thought that was the testimony from the Mom who was on the stand and whose house where the babysitter was at.
Wow...no emotion ...😮😮😮 she is a POS ... she did not forget ... what a lousy actress! The mom comes to the door .... then she starts screaming .... 😮😮😮
Apart from the horrendous act that she did, presenting herself at a Sheriff's department for an interrogation "dressed" in that way is absolutely disrespectful. Hot day or not!
She had urinated herself and someone found some shorts for her to change into...those are not even her own clothes! Do not make assumptions so rapidly😢
So many babies left inside cars!! Wth is going on in the world that would make people so self involved that they don’t notice anything happening around them!? This is so terribly tragic. RIP baby Ariya 🙏🏻
@@nikkibb1998 Planning a trip to London and getting on Snapchat ... it's not trauma or post-trauma. Definitely First World problems. No one leaves a baby in the car due to what's "going on in the country." Politics can't be blamed when a person has their priorities tragically out of whack.
This increased dramatically once the law changed so that car seats must be in the back. Trying to protect children against air bags but this was the unintended consequence.
How do you forget a baby? I know this happens a lot. I've left groceries in the back seat forgetting them. I wonder if there is some alarm that could be placed on the child seat to go off when the car is turned off?? It 'shouldn't happen but it does again and again. An alarm might be an easy fix
A lot of newer vehicles (mine is a 2018 Chevy suburban) actually have an indicator that goes off and says “check passenger seats” when turning the engine off.
People who are so callous as to leave a baby in a hot car are not going to be dissuaded by some buzzer. They'll just disconnect the car seat and walk off with the baby still in the car. A car is not a babysitter. A car is not an alarm to help remember a live child.
My car alerts me to the back seats every time it’s tuned off. I’ve always found it obnoxious but clearly other people could use the prompt to remind them there’s a baby in the car!!
I have a warning in my GMC Terrain everytime there is something heavy in the back seat, I get an alert when I turn the vehicle off to check the back seat for children.
I agree that there are such instances that a change of schedule etc. has let people forget but this case is different. We know that she knowingly left the baby in the car because of the texts. She chose to leave her and that is a more serious crime so she went with the I forgot her story. She did not intend to kill her but when she chose to let her be in the car for a bit or however long ??? why she passed on the drug test probably says she was doing something. whole thing is awful
What doesn’t make sense is she arrived at the twin’s house with Ariya at 8:15am, went inside and apparently got distracted with the kids and talking to the other mom Stacy, claimed to have forgotten that she had the baby in the car, but TEXTED Ariya’s mom at 8:30am when the other mom finally left the house. How does she text the baby’s mom, but claim to forget that she picked up the baby less than 30 minutes ago. I suspected she was sleeping when Ariya’s mom knocked and rang the doorbell with no answer. And that’s why it took her so long to come to the door, and it’s also when she realized that she never got the baby out of the car.
Crossed legs - emotionally closed off and wants to leave. She should've remembered at 8:30AM, which is when she said she would normally pick the baby up. That would've meant the baby was only in the car for 15 minutes. This lady is full of bull crap. The more I watch the more I see signs that she doesn't blame herself at all. When she grabbed her phone from the cup holders in the middle (something she said during the trial), she would've been able to see the car seat in the back behind the passenger seat. Since she doesn't have the car seat on the days that she doesn't have the baby (in other words, they aren't leaving the car seat in her car on days she isn't watching the baby), then she would know she had the baby in the car! she's so full of crap! She left her there on purpose, maybe not intending for it to last 5 hours, but that's what she isn't admitting, that she did it on purpose initially - maybe thinking 30 min would be ok and THEN SHE FORGOT for 5 hours.
I have 3 children , all are in grade school. But , I can't rem EVER leaving my child in a car... not even my animal with the windows up. How does someone not know the child is not around for 5 hrs? This is incredble negligence ...

Today I think I hit an iguana when I was driving….i heard a thump and I had tears coming to my eyes! She’s not even crying because of the baby? Who does that?
Not victim blaming, but I so wish the mother had asked Rhonda how her baby was doing. Perhaps that could have saved this precious baby's life. Just something that could've triggered her memory...
I’m starting to get the feeling they are going let let her off… I don’t think you should get to do a hop, skip, and a jump and go forward. She took the life of a child in a terrible way, those parents have to live with that. Horrible, she should do her time. You don’t leave children behind, NEVER. They come FIRST❤

Makes you wonder if the other lady knew she was bringing this baby into her home. Makes me think that she left her there until Stacy left, then she forgot. My evidence is the text to mom about Stacy just leaving.
I think she forgot but it still qualifies as neglect in her role as the nanny. Surely if you care for a baby you know that part of that care includes feeding, a diaper change and putting the baby down for a nap. She was being paid to provide such care. She did none of it. I agree, priorities were all messed up, she didn't forget her phone
This is why I didn’t get babysitters or allow anyone to take my kids anywhere. I didn’t put them in daycare. I cannot imagine! I stayed home and took care of our kids while my husband worked. It was financially tight, but we wanted them to be safe, healthy, and well-adjusted. They were! So so sad!
People r too distracted with phone but how could u forget a human a baby
I had twins and this is exactly my thinking. I would rather struggle than let any stranger take care of my children. They are not babies forever.
Same girl!
Bottom line she refused the dr0g testing at the station. Case closed

If this happened on my watch they'd have to interview me in a mental hospital because I'd be so distraught and heartbroken.

She has finally calmed down some to be able to talk to them. On scene she was distraught! Hyperventilating, vomiting, sobbing uncontrollably, she peed herself, etc..
The fact she admitted that she figured the baby was asleep tells me she was AWARE the baby was there and left her on purpose.
Yup she didmt want to Wake the infant up being that she also Had 3 Other kids to Watch at the Sametime
Probably asleep and thought she’d leave her a while and then forgot her 😞
I think she had left the baby in the car before; but left her too long on this particular day.

This is so heartbreaking. As someone with ADHD, this is my biggest fear. I am constantly getting distracted and forgetting what I was doing. I wonder if she also has ADHD. It would make sense that children love her if that’s the case too. :(

The last thing in this Woman's mind was this poor babygirl .
People who are so callous as to leave a baby in a hot car are not going to be dissuaded by some buzzer. They'll just disconnect the car seat and walk off with the baby still in the car.

I should not say this but i find it hard to believe she wasn't on some kind of medication
