Jake is a really good farm hand. I know it's just a small detail, but when they went to check the chickens the next day and the water dish needed a change. Jake just grabbed it and did it without hesitation. I'm sure one of the reasons FLAIR thinks raising chickens sucks is because of the small things you have to do to every day. Big shout outs to farmhand Jake!
The thought behind red lights are that animals can’t see the color so it doesn’t disturb them as much as a normal light so you can leave it on all night and they can still sleep and have a day night cycle but get heat at the same time the heat comes down to the wattage so you probably got a higher wattage bulb in the red
Flair idk if you have ever heard of Rural King but it is like a tractor supply on steroids and has geese, guineas, ducks, rabbits and tons of other animals.....also has ammo and pews a good amount too. And a whole lot of other stuff that has to do with farming.
flair for the those red bulbs you have to keep them at least 8 inches from the shavings or else it could catch them on fire because of the heat, the box they come in tells you how far away they need to be so hopefully you see this.
Hey Flair they have feed for animals that has garlic in it that when they consume it it goes into there skin and when the animals burp it goes in there skin and repelles the flys away it works really good. They also have a feed with fly control in it
It is spring, meaning breeding season for most animals. Camels are known to kill donkeys and Carlos is little also. With Carlos wanting to breed Ralph, Ralph could end up killing him. To protect Carlos from himself you should move Carlos and the donkeys by themselves. Carlos can also breed the donkeys, ending up with a miniature mule. They can inner breed. Just don't let Carlos get killed. He's a very cute miniature horse
Use hardware cloth for creature proofing your chicken run. It’s 1/2” square steel wire fencing. Tough stuff. Much stronger than stretchy chicken wire. Raccoons and opossums can’t reach thru. Enjoy your vids.
I'd recommend keeping the turkeys separate. I'm told the chicken starter feed doesn't have enough protein to support the turkeys and that chicken feces that may cross contaminate is very harmful for turkeys. Just what I've been told, might improve the survival rate.
As soon as flair pushed that stake in the ground with his hand, I was like yeah a raccoon will pull that thing straight out of the ground like nothing and he did 😂
I would recommend retrofitting the dog pin to use as a chicken tractor it's a strong base and you'd be able to move it around the big animal pen to help control the Flies
They said be putting it inside with all other animals once big enough n they be free roaming in there n dog cage will be for them to roost n lay eggs only in there
Jake is 10000% your MVP of the farm hands at the moment I hope you realise how much he does to help out without even saying it or trying to take credit for it he just does it straight away without any hesitation definitely the flair farm MVP at the moment
As long as you leave bags of feed out you will always have mice, rat and coon problems. They will find that bag every time only thing you can do is seal the feed in a solid container
Flair in a previous episod: "Beefcake Construction is very professional." Also Flair: "Well my camel is pissing on himself....and my horse is erect." 😂😭
Yo flair I’ve weighed down the trap panels on those rectangular live traps, it works well to give them a super light trigger. I had a massive rat in one like that bc I made the trigger lighter.
I’ve raised over 1000 chickens in my lifetime and I know you say you don’t want to deal with roosters but roosters would protect your flock as well as provide a breeding opportunity👍
The red one is for the chicks to sleep, when the regular one is on it’s harder for them to sleep, but it only really matters when they are laying eggs, when they sleep better they produce more eggs.
Just wire the chain from the dog proof to the fence!!! I have never lost a trap I’ve came close a couple times but have been able to find the trap every time!!! Heck you can even run a fence staple into that post that is right there!! They definitely work great in the Wright areas and I have never had anything pull a fence staples out of a tree or post that I end up driving them into!!! Steaks can definitely be pulled out if not long enough and if
The best wire for chickens is hardware cloth. It's as tough as cattle panels but it comes in 1/2 in to 1/4 in size holes. It's pretty dang expensive though, but will keep out an old raccoon.
I thought it was pretty funny that as they were talking about an enclosure for the chicks I was thinking what about the rabbit enclosure? Pretty sure it would be big enough. Next thing I know Flair realized that enclosure would be great for the chicks. Lol
Except the chicks are totally exposed from the roof of the rabbit cage considering it's just cloth and has gaps. Of course raccoons didn't bother the rabbit, it's was as big as the raccoons themselves. LOL.
For mom's on the go, don't forget those audiobooks too! The turkey's you ate one and sold 2, Ed, Edd and Eddie. They are all adorable 😍 I can't wait to see how Pedro handles the new turkeys. The way Ralph's lips flap when he runs is hilarious! The raccoon went back to his friends and said "Check out this beautiful bracelet I found last night! See it sparkles!" Another awesome video, happy rat trapping!
Hey Flair. Dominique, hamburg, and leghorn are the best breeds of chickens to end the fly problems. Flies love to lay thier eggs in the animals 💩 and the chickens will scratch thru the 💩 and eat the fly larva. Just cut the fly feathers when they get full grown they won't fly out of the pen. Hope that helps.
You should put chicken wire on the inside, and a tougher wire mesh/Chainlink on the outside. And bury it 12-16 inches underground. Or make it on stilts and make the ground out of a thick tough mesh.
Hey love your channel! My aunt used to put the farm food in plastic containers such as a big trash can with a lid she had a big box made of wood with a lid and it kept the mice and Etc out
There are two primary kinds of heat lamps, red lamps and frosted/clear lamps. They function identically in terms of heat production, but the red lamp is designed to produce less visible light and is more suitable for situations where both heat and darkness are important.
Flair you are going to have to do something about the top of the cage. Coons will just scale up the side and under the trap top. Bye-bye birdies. Yes, rats eat chicks put a lid on the tank.Glue traps are okay once they have one part of the body stuck on the trap they fight to get off and usually end up with everything stuck in it. Rats climb well too.
