+overclock1993 But only the current owners will benefit from the price hike, not Ducati. You could argue that it has put Ducati's name out there... Like my next bike will most likely be a Ducati now.
+Chris Hatton Ducati has already been a well known company in the bike world. You know what else Ducati is known for? Maintenance. Have fun having to pay for all your parts to be imported from Italy. Don't get me wrong Ducati's are the sexiest bikes on the road, but only if you got the wallet for one...
The Ducati in the film was a Sport Classic 1000 Biposto with an LED taillight mod. Im in love with this bike, and hunting for one, (Theyre expensive, rare, and hard to look after... but in my opinion its 100% worth the effort)

I was the onset mechanic for the movie here in Vancouver, BC . They used my bike in the close ups where you really cant see it ie the closing scene on the Lions' Gate Bridge .. (the bike was mounted on a camera truck for part of it :( ... Also worked on the jump scene where they used a local off ramp at 1 in the morning to shoot .. they used 2 old beat up 73 Honda XL 350s that the effects gusy dressed up to look like a Ducati SC for the landing scene .. the take off was filmed on a KTM with a steady cam mounted on a pole on the back of the bike so the viewer can follow the jump down :) ... was a great experience and they couldnt have picked a better city to shoot it in ... Also the old 900ss pared outside Jack's fathers place belongs to another local guy ... they dinged oneof his pipes in the producton somehow but made good on it :)
Jesus the Crusader of Islam maybe he’s just that passionate about his bike. The way I am about my my motorcycle and other vehicles, I’d do the same thing. It’s not every day your stuff is featured in a movie.
Tron Legacy is so underrated, one of the few really great modern sci-fi films from Hollywood. Can't believe they didn't go for the trilogy when Garret Headland was teetering on the brink of becoming a big deal
Tron :Ares is on the rise very soon. I'm not sure of the production Schedule/Pricipal Photography so far. But Disney did poor with the franchise, Tron is one of those franchise that has plotholes/plot devices and a world building set up that has alot more to be explored upon (Tron Uprising being a good example). What I do know so far about Tron Ares is that Jared Leto is playing in it. I'm not sure of his role, there's not much information out yet, but I'd assume he may be the successor the Qlu. 🤔
The one in the movie, I'm fairly certain is an '07-09 ducati classic sport1000 biposto. Previous years had stacked mufflers on the right side, and were known as monoposto. This model has split exhaust on either side allowing for passenger foot pegs. The biggest changes were the removal of the indicators, blacked out gas cylinders on the rear shocks and, a new tail with an integrated LED stop light.
nearly 100%.. They actually used both bikes. The scene pre-grid is a mono bike. However, when they get out, and he has a passenger he somehow ends up on a biposto. At least that is the consensus on a couple ducati forums that ive frequented.
@@jamievandalen no the chase scene with the bike is a biposto you can see the 2 shocks the bike the whole way through the movie is biposto 7 years late but oh well

nope. I own a black Monoposto just like the one in the movie, and a friend of mine has the Biposto. You can clearly see the Ducati mark at the rear of the saddle when they ride off two on the bike. The saddle with the Ducati text on the end is unique to the Biposto saddle. Also the MP does not have any footrest, so wouldn't really want to sit behind even if the saddle was switched :)
There are two notable modifications on the film bike. The tail pipes and mufflers are relocated to only one side of the bike and the tail light is not stock in the film.
I own a stock '07 Sport 1000 and I did notice one or two minor cosmetic differences between it & the bike in the movie. The stock Sport 1k has a couple of rather large rear turn signals mounted on stalks to the left & right of the brake light, while the bike in the movie has its turn signals moved underneath the seat. There may be more, but I can't remember them offhand. Incidentally, the stock Sport 1k can easily do 150+ MPH. Not that I've tried it or anything. :)
As several people mentions, the Fleda taillights are not custom -the whole back end with plate positioning was custom. Pipes also not standard. Also note that the bike in the beginning is a Monoposto (single seater) but at the end when he drives away with the girl it is a biposto (two seater).
i think if ducati offers the modifications when you purchase the bike, they do not consider as after markets? because i brought mine with those modifications straight from the factory. correct me if im wrong.
shame what they did with the sound design for that bike in the movie. You can hear the actual engine, but then some scenes use a 600-1000cc I4 (typically japanese), which was the very high pitched screamy flyby you’d hear a couple of times, and then even a scene where it sounds like a 270 crank parallel twin if I remember correctly, which is also… not something ducati ever really got into. You do hear the original sound a few times at least.
When it comes to Tron I would love to see if its possible to make a deadly disc that cuts anything like what they were throwing around in the movie. On a more friendly basis, is it possible to make a working cell phone that can also be a transformer toy? That would be sweet!
Yeah that's what I meant, that it was a biposto the whole time, and the rear seat had a cowl on it for the majority of the film. The pipes are never in the double-stack configuration on the right, as far as I'm aware. I'd be interested to hear how you like your mono, I'm contemplating getting one to supplement my 749. Obviously they're not the same bike, but how's reliability, handling, and all? Anything major ever break or give issues? Thanks
Fun fact: When bikes are fitted with a speed limiter, it is usually set at 300km/h while car's speed limiters stop them at 250km/h. Both are crazy "limits", but when you're empty-headed enough to reach 300km/h on a motorbike, why wouldn't the manufacturers let you go even faster? oh, well.
The switch to turn off the headlight is also not American spec, unless they brought in an Eurospec one which has a headlight switch. All American market bikes have the headlight on at all times. Your only choice is high beam or low beam. They could have just disconnected the fuse or took out the bulb for it, and that still counts as a "mod".
Placing a large reflective device is quite possible using modern technology the biggest hurdle is that it can be cost prohibitive to launch and maintain since cosmic debris would puncture it's surface and solar winds would buffet it and push it out of orbit.

She was completely incorrect about the new director. She mentioned the originals director. Also the bike did have after market mods including all signals changed out and a light only kill switch. Lastly their ducati expert was wrong that jump couldnt be done with this bike in any form
On a tech I would like to see if it could be possible: In Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars Trilogy, there is an apparatus that's put in Mars polar orbit, the Soletta, that catches light that would otherwise miss Mars just slightly and focuses it on the planet, and working in conjuction with some huge orbiting mirrors, it enhances the sunlight on the planet by 20%, thus greatly speeding the terraforming processes that are happening. Is this even possible? How close are we to have tech like this?
Fairly sure he just took off the cowling to fit the bird - the biposto pipes sit in a different configuration (one on each side) from the monoposto (two stacked on the right). At least one of the bikes has a custom paintjob, blue stripe instead of white.
Does this show include TV because I want to know if anything in the Minority Report like lab for the now cancelled CSI:Miami was real, specifically the see through monitors and if yes how much are they and how any municipality could afford them.
This has been done to death, physically no if you go by how the films describe a lightsabre as a "laser sword" but in practice it may be possible if you use plasma contained in a force field (which is theoretically possible as well) but it would be so dangerous that it would be safer to hand the weapon to an opponent and run away than actually try to wield it yourself.
Recent research hint that faster than light travel may be possible ( I am not allowed to put in any links but Google faster than light travel) but not in a ship that appears like any of the Enterprises but oddly enough in a ship similar in appearance to what the Vulcan ships look like (Google Vulcan D'kyr class ship)
Also, for what it's worth, this woman is utterly useless in terms of research. While the Ducati in the film was not tweaked "much", the tail lights were a mod, and the bike did not make that jump. Instead they took a KTM and modified it to look like the Ducati.
LOL, "very high speeds." I own one of these, after having had a 998 for awhile. It's quick, because of being a liter bike and having good torque, but the old girl has a lot of trouble getting past 130 on a good day. I do love them both, but I think the Sport Classic is a bit more refined for an older guy, but she can still tear. I can't believe you had to do an entire episode about this, when the bike is listed on the Ducati catalogue, for god's sake.
Lots of spectacular motorcycle roads in the Bay Area. Riding is one of the most fun things you can do. But yeah, you'd probably be safer riding cupcake with a skilled pilot.
It's a shame that ducati stop producing this bike. I hope that with a special demand, they can make this bike again. I mean really, the demand for this bike is sky high.

GREAT VIDEO -- GREAT CHANNEL - BUT TURN DOWN the Background MUSIC !! :O :O It was too loud and I and I felt like I was trying to hear you and the other presenter through some loud radio noise !!
Thanks! We have big plans for this one!
Sorry man, it's a teaser episode... we'll have more time and resources for awesome stuff going forward!
Sorry it has a Fleda Tail Light that is not STOCK! Even the termignoni are extras ...
But pretty much everything else is stock..
i own a Ducati Sport Classic 1000 myself
Lie !
Enjoy the bike brother. We only get older
The theory is sound, in a popular science article (popsci.com/technology/article/2010-12/sonic-screwdriver-could-produce-ultrasonic-force-fields-manipulate-objects-scientists-say) a forcefield can be constructed from ultrsonic sound waves and used to apply force to an object
It’s a great scene from an outstanding film. There’s just something about a Duc!
Cool video but if you could drop the background music level some. It kind of overwhelms your talking.
:42 sec before you even addressed what the video is about. Let me save everyone else who doesn't have the internet 5:27. Yes, it's real, Ducati classic, and in the movie it's barely modded from a showroom floor model.
We liked how "fictional" sounded better! Anyway, fact or fiction has been done too many times.
Gotta love the old surprised there is a camera there as you turn on your small desk lam that lights up the whole room cliché :)
Great video! I love my Ducati motorcycles! love to see them featured in movies also.
This is the best idea for a show ever!!!!
Just learned that it was actually a stunt bike at the jump scene. Here is a picture of the stunt bike. 41.media.tumblr.com/dd2a5adcd35d7eac1a8483a1c6c15877/tumblr_nrgd8rvrUw1qa4keto1_540.jpg
You gotta do the glasses from Daniel Suarez's Daemon!
Why use 1 soundtrack when you can trough in 3 at the same time!
People who dont know bikes should not report on them.
This will be a Great Channel!
Loved the show, not a huge fan on the basement look, or the lighting down there though.
A little bit rude interviewing… I felt bad for the guy
