Hello Mr. Rob, would you guide me to a good aviation school ? It’s always been a dream of mine to fly and just always been a part of my life. I’ve studied a lot of military fighter jets , bombers, AWACS, subsonic trainer aircraft.
@@mikefletcherjr3022 I'm not Mr. Rob, but I currently go to UND, the program is great but rigorous and holds you accountable. If you would just want to get your PPL and not go through the commercial pipeline I recommend a Part 61 School possibly at your local airport or Aerocenter. Part 61 is also a great way to go for those who don't want to go through Part 141 and college.
This instructor was absolutely amazing. Professional, serious, and rewarding. This dude knows how to teach people and to let them know they are doing a great job in a potentially stressful situation.
Very Nice. I was a 67T Tactical Transport Helicopter Mechanic (Blackhawk) (later became 15T) and 66T Aircraft Technical Inspector (when that existed and trained at Fort Eustis in 1985. After 3 years as a crew chief in the 82nd Airborne, went full-time National Guard and became certified on the OH-6, OH-58, UH-1, and spent the rest of my career as a Technical Inspector (TI). The Blackhawk is an amazing machine, always has been, and still relevant. The Army is insane by switching over to a dual tiltrotor, and they will regret that decision. Spent 19 years on flight status, and went through about everything you can think of except being shot down. Engine failures, torque splits, loss of tail rotor once (cable broke). Back in the day before the NVG modification the internal lighting was all red and we had to tape up the vids to keep the brightness down. Was on active duty during the time when the EMI issue with the stabilator happened, we were restricted to 80 knots for months until they developed and modded adding the stabilator "pinky switch". I still live near the unit I was assigned to, and still visit on occasion and see them flying around the metro area a few times a week. I really miss it. Great video, and the fact he can get in with so little experience and fly it that well is a testament as to how pilot friendly this beast is. An absolutely amazing design and the H-60 will go down in history as probably the best military helo ever fielded, based on the multiple variations and mission capability. Thanks for the video!

Not weird at all! There are so many TH-camrs out there who will do anything for content....Cleet is one of the few that does what he loves and the content is a side effect! He is very intelligent and surrounds himself with like minded people. McFarland Aviation and McFarland Racing are going to become Empires of the Industry!

I worked a rotation in a field medical tent on a military runway and loved watching the pilots practice besting their previous landings. It was a game of how clean can you do it.
@o0purehate0o He also has always had a very good sense of the vehicles around him and feeling connected to them. Some people get in a vehicle for the first time and they need some time to mesh with it and figure out the way it moves and how much room it takes up but Cleeter seems to just need minutes/hours where as most need days/months of time. It's absolutely insane how many times he's hopped in something for the first time and just looked natural.

I haven't been in a running Blackhawk since the 80s but a zillion hours as a Crew Chief and never ending tinnitus concurs. can still hear that transmission whine in my right ear. and that was using double ear pro.
I cut down trees for a living and I wore ear protection when I was 17 the older guys gave me grief for it but I'm really glad I did I did have some tinnitus but Dr Berg's little exercise help me with that,@@flynlr
Australia here - we just scrapped the MH 90 Tipan and have got 40 brand new blackhawks coming down under. We've had a bunch for a while - every time they use to fly over my house all blacked out full of SASR it was such a buzz. Congrats on getting your type rating! Yall are going to have some mad adventures!
Great job gentlemen! 30 year commercial pilot and I still remember that feeling of accomplishment and pride tempered with knowledge. It may just be a bigger challenging ride but thats what keeps it interesting and keeps us sharp. Never stop learning. Congratulations 👏 to you both
I suspect most Blackhawk operators are former/current US Army pilots. Does the FAA recognize US Army certification or do they need an FAA endorsement as well?
I've worked on those for so many years (19) and crewed them for 14 years. Seeing that lower console so bare and with an actual GPS is amazing. That was also a superb roll-on too.
Way back in the 90's, I was an Avionics Mechanic. AH-64, UH-60, OH-58 mainly, with a few other airframes in the mix. Loved it, and it led to some amazing things after. Thanks, Uncle Sam, for giving me the opportunity. I had some fantastic fellow soldiers, and got to see and do some amazing things. Many thanks to my fellow veterans for their service. Training never ends. As a back seater Flight Medic, knowing immediate EPs and using the checklist is key to a good flight. Take offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

It's really cool to see him locked in, he's gotten comfortable with 1000+++ cars but I'm glad he's got the maturity to be professional and focused with (relatively) unfamiliar dangerous machines.
Way back in the day, I was really into RC Helicopters. While I was deployed in Aghanistan, I spoke with a couple of the helicopter pilots and asked if I could check out the helicopters. They brought me out and showed me the Blackhawks and Apaches. I noticed a ton of stickers on the inside of the helicopters. I mentioned to the guy showing me around that I flew RC Helicopters and that I had some RC Heli Magazine stickers and asked if I could add to the stickers. I found a few empty spaces and added a sticker in a few of the copters. I then got some pictures and they were later posted in the magazine. As odd as it may sound, FOB Shank, Afghanistan was a very cool deployment (Accept for the rocket attacks. Those sucked!) Thank you for sharing your experience.
What great acft. I have just over 2,000 hours in A/ A+ & L Hawks and 1900+ hours in other helicopters. The most fun you can have with your pants on! Congratulations guys!!

He combines high intelligence with incredible hand to eye coordination. I honestly believe if Garrett had gone into the military he could have ended up a NASA astronaut (if he could have handled the math/engineering). He’s that good.
The guy is just a natural wheelman. Like, he can hop in anything and after a little bit of time, can be very proficient at it much faster than the average person can.
This man’s goal in life is to drive / fly everything he possibly can and I love it. From sticking turbo whistles in his exhaust to piloting a Blackhawk. 😆
Just listening to the instructor talk about how shocked he was with how quick Cleetus reacted and how he’s probably his best student wow. That lets everyone know truly how good Cleet is at Captaining anything. Guy was flying blackhawks in Afghan and is saying he’s impressed with you! Damn brother keep it up
Definitely a joke but wouldn’t expect anything less from a drag racer reaction is key 😂 but gotta give it to Garrett he goes all in on whatever he does and he goes above and beyond to learn and get better in everything he does. I love the fact he is learning everything he possibly can to better himself in the aviation industry. @@imchris5000Well if flying scale R/C stuff transfers over to true size aircraft, the smaller it is the harder it is to fly. As you scale up in size and weight, you don't have to react as quick because the mass slows all movements down. You will never hear a pilot of a large aircraft say.... "I like my women like I like my aircraft, big... Slow... and expensive". That would be a backwoods girl from Kentucky who loves 50oz filets for appetizers and says..." You gonna eat that? "... While pointing at your steak 🥩.

Love the UH60! In 2005 I was at LSA Anaconda and served as a gunner for about 300 hours total. Once the crew chiefs found out I could spin a wrench I was pretty busy, but I loved every second of it. I loved giving the preflight brief to the pax and inevitably would be asked “how far will this thing fly on one engine?” The answer was “Oh she’ll fly right to the crash site “. Delivered deadpan, fucking hilarious! I miss flying in those beasts. Well done man.
I work H60 engines for the Air Force, and it is cool watching you do the run up on these. Normally I would be standing outside on a headset listening to all those callouts, then telling you the blade droop stops are good before I unplug and run away.

I think I’d let the instructor tell me how to eat a bowl of cereal, I love how constructive and informative he is without being stern, it’s a very serious topic, but he was very passionate about it, props to you cleet!
Ah, 15 years of memories... Regarding the long start process, imagine you're in a medevac unit and you need to get in the air as soon as possible, we used to go through the checklist up to start, to get everything set up so we could run out in the middle of the night and get rolling in 8 minutes (following everything up with the checklist as we taxi, before takeoff). Also, flying on the tailwheel is cute, but if you ever get the chance again, try a 3 point roll-on landing -- I used to love doing those. You have to get down to about 20 knots on approach and nose over slightly just as you get toward the ground. 😀

Note when flying a two pilot aircraft such as a hawk you should utilize the “FADEC-F” acronym. Fly the aircraft, Alert the crew of the problem, diagnose the emergency procedure, execute the emergency procedure, communicate internally and externally, and continue to fly the aircraft; Just a critic from the simulated low-side failure. Yes it is good to react quickly in an emergency to ensure the problem does not get worse. However, during the low side failure, as the IP was still “flying the aircraft” and “Alerting the crew” of engine indications, you had immediately shot up and placed the PCL in lockout without announcing your actions prior. We train in the Army that before manipulating the PCL in any condition, both pilots need to confirm that your hand is on the correct PCL. In an actual emergency, one that you did not mentally brief for prior to or expect the IP was going to tell you to do, it is a very possible mistake to put the good engine into lockout, or worse, during an engine failure to shutoff the good engine. These mistakes have happened in that aircraft and are very real. You are flying a two pilot aircraft and there are reasons as to why two pilots are required. Other than back seat quarterbacking your first flight that you were gracious enough to post online for guys like me to learn from; It was extremely impressive to see how you completed a constant angle approach to the ground, roll-on, and autorotation during your first flight which took us months to be taught in flight school!

I've watched quite a few videos of folks flying all sort of aircraft and one thing that has always amazed me is the conversation between the pilot and the tower. Learning how to listen and understand what the tower's telling the pilot is amazing.
I used to be an instructor on the largest Sikorsky helicopter, and always, always wished I could have gotten some UH-60 time. Garrett, you're a natural! My goodness that instructor is a gem! an absolute gem! I'm an aviation enthusiast I can't afford to be a pilot too expensive where I live plus I'm a nervous person but this instructor just hearing how confident and kind and understanding he is just made me calm damn wish more people like him would be out there.

Hahhh...when in the air...calm collected speak with ease and directness....after action...yeah that's different...debrief will be hard if you fucked up. You're on the dirt now...breathing...did you do something that might not make that possible? Intensive scrutiny of this event will now commence.
Entirely different situations. Here's someone driving a car together with thousands of others that are getting into routines, ignoring checking their cars for safety, starting to forget some of the rules or being too relaxed with some rules and sometimes being safed by other drivers that avoided the accident that you didn't even know you're causing. Because it's "normal" and routine and everyone is driving. And then there's someone spending a lot of money on flying in a machine much more dangerous and expensive than a car. So that student is much more likely to have respect and awareness of the situation. Look at some of the student drivers, thinking they are the born race car drivers or thinking driving is nothing more than accelerating and turning ... I'd probably be a strict and "dick" driving instructor, given most of the students.

But like most helicopters it has a killed a lot of our armed force. The blackhawks crash 3x more than the V22 osprey does, the v280 replacement will be a godsend
@@amazin7006 The fact that the US Army alone has more than 2000 Black Hawks, and they've been in service since 1979 whereas there are less than 400 Ospreys and they only entered service in 2005 might have something to do with that.

If anything, that means the blackhawk should have a safer record since it has been around much longer (new aircraft tend to crash more due growing pains and lacking skills in maintenance). We are talking crash RATES, not total crashes. Basically "how many accidents happen during X amount of hours of flight?"

I was watching the vertical descents and hovers in that. I could see how comfortable you were, even in the tight spaces. Now that TH-cam brought this older Blackhawk training video into my feed, I'm even more impressed. Your landings were spot on, and smooth like butter. I loved your, "wheelie," trip down the runway. 😊 It's also always good to make your trainer's heart happy keeping ahead of the bird in the emergency procedures. Well done!

Every Library Wednesday, I read all the aviation mags, & took out max of 5 aviation books for the week. When 4, family friend Ike's place, Dad's old Buddy leafed thru my sketches, paused at Hunter Killer, All Service fighter-bomber. Ike laughed, mussed up my hair sayin', "Hunter-Killer is term for Submarines", but Dad just glared at him, then said, "General, have you ever seen anything Like it, Sir?" Ike said, "As in why, Buddy?" Dad explained, "Big Engined twin so will always return, outer third of wing gull shape so USN would always get their plane back, view from front that of a pissed off bullet w/wings so high speed/low drag, modified Delta-Wing under which we could sling s__t-load of armament, and rear seater to help with dangers behind, target selection, navigation & w/dual controls, he could even bring plane, AND valuable wounded Pilot home together saving you a s__tload of money, General. I took liberty of going thru every scrap of Intelligence obtained for you today, and Ruskies have nothing like it planned for the next 10 Years, General". Ike shouted, "I got it, I got it, I got it...let's call it the, 'PHANTOM', as it sure snuck up on me!!" The name stuck, DOD added the "F4", & later in year, President Eisenhauer dbl Green Lighted it for heavy use in Vietnam, by Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, & Tricky Dick! When left, Buddy Ike w/o Security, escorted us out to Dad's spot. He said to Dad, "Still driven' that old Ford Buddie?" Dad said, "She's got some miles on her, but at least is reliable, General! White House to Howell Michigan is a hike, finally got there, but nowhere to park, & some ahole had their beautiful black Buick Special parked right in Dad's spot. I knew sparks would be flyin', so hunkered down on porch behind chair. Dad growled, "So who's the Company?" Mom said, "No company, your old friend Lucious from Buick Dealer was here & asked if could park his car, but that was last night. I phoned the Buick Dealer, but they say Lucious is not available, but you did get some mail if you'd like to open it". Dad checked his mail, stopped & opened that from Buick Dealer. He opened it, & couple key rings fell out w/2 sets of keys! There was note on Company Stationery from Lucious which read, "Congratulations, you Lucky Dog, from the people of The United States, a Brand New Buick, in appreciation for your never-ending devotion to Your Nation!". Mom had that covered, as said, "Next trip, I'll send 8 dozen peanut butter cookies instead of the usual 7 dozen, so that maybe I too may get a new car"!! She baked 8 doz cookies every time hopin, for that car, but nothin' happened. She had no idea in MAR '45 on Ike's orders of, "Must end war yesterday!", Dad, BAR, & Ammo Carrier attacked bridge over Rhine at Remagen by themselves, clearing 2500+man German Army so fast, even today Historians can't finger out how they did w/o even losing 1 G.I. Ike got his wish ending European Theatre action 8 mos early. Upon U-Boat 234's surrender w/hold full of U-235 Yellow Cake, & several complete 8om8s plus much intel, proving Axis had them, prepped to use them, & schedule was: London, NYC, LA, San Fran, D.C., NYC Again, and London again! At least they would have finally made the A-LIST!! Dad not greedy individual, but then it bugged him wondering how many soles he;d have to save to get a brand new Cadillac!! Boy, I'll bet that woulda pissed Mom off!

Really enjoyed this video. I can very much appreciate your enthusiasm for the experience of flying this helicopter. I am a 75 year old strictly wannabe/wish-I-could helicopter flyer. My only experience was as a passenger in a Huey while serving in the Army back in 1969-71. Being an X-Plane flight simulator user I started out with no intention of playing around with anything but fixed wing. Then decided to try their Nimbus Huey. After flipping it over like a tipped over cow for what seemed an infinite number of times I finally got somewhat airborne and haven't fired up a fixed wing in the simulator since. The vortex ring state is now my biggest challenge but getting better at it. One thing the military taught me was procedures rule. Particularly when operating weaponry and flying any aircraft. I live in central Idaho in the Nez Perce Forest which may explain why the weather looked so familiar. Thanks again for posting the video.
Planes are really cool, they will always be my first love, but helicopters have a special spot... they're just... what else beats the air into submission? Everyone else bows down at the feet of bernouli before every flight, but not helicopters 8) They just spool up and get to business. Beautiful machines.
I am a machinist and I worked for the Department of the Army at an Army Depot the rebuilt Blackahawks, I've machined lots parts for the GE T-700/701 engines and also the APU
Im impressed you two did fantastic. The black hawk was my everyday ride in Iraq and it always amazed me how good those guys were. Also fun when you sit right next to the gunner when he cuts loose scary as hell but cool as hell. The first time they popped flares before landing in a hot zone at night I have to say I almost crapped myself lol the gunner said I held my chit together better then some military guys did he said some scream like little girls.Again way to go guys

@@mikefletcherjr3022 I'm not Mr. Rob, but I currently go to UND, the program is great but rigorous and holds you accountable. If you would just want to get your PPL and not go through the commercial pipeline I recommend a Part 61 School possibly at your local airport or Aerocenter. Part 61 is also a great way to go for those who don't want to go through Part 141 and college.
This instructor was absolutely amazing. Professional, serious, and rewarding. This dude knows how to teach people and to let them know they are doing a great job in a potentially stressful situation.

Very Nice. I was a 67T Tactical Transport Helicopter Mechanic (Blackhawk) (later became 15T) and 66T Aircraft Technical Inspector (when that existed and trained at Fort Eustis in 1985. After 3 years as a crew chief in the 82nd Airborne, went full-time National Guard and became certified on the OH-6, OH-58, UH-1, and spent the rest of my career as a Technical Inspector (TI). The Blackhawk is an amazing machine, always has been, and still relevant. The Army is insane by switching over to a dual tiltrotor, and they will regret that decision. Spent 19 years on flight status, and went through about everything you can think of except being shot down. Engine failures, torque splits, loss of tail rotor once (cable broke). Back in the day before the NVG modification the internal lighting was all red and we had to tape up the vids to keep the brightness down. Was on active duty during the time when the EMI issue with the stabilator happened, we were restricted to 80 knots for months until they developed and modded adding the stabilator "pinky switch". I still live near the unit I was assigned to, and still visit on occasion and see them flying around the metro area a few times a week. I really miss it. Great video, and the fact he can get in with so little experience and fly it that well is a testament as to how pilot friendly this beast is. An absolutely amazing design and the H-60 will go down in history as probably the best military helo ever fielded, based on the multiple variations and mission capability. Thanks for the video!

Not weird at all! There are so many TH-camrs out there who will do anything for content....Cleet is one of the few that does what he loves and the content is a side effect! He is very intelligent and surrounds himself with like minded people. McFarland Aviation and McFarland Racing are going to become Empires of the Industry!

I worked a rotation in a field medical tent on a military runway and loved watching the pilots practice besting their previous landings. It was a game of how clean can you do it.
The fact that the CFI was so impressed speskes volumes to Garrett's skill as pilot/driver/absolute wheelman
I think the reaction time he's got has a big help factor from Leroy being the typical 6 second savage he is.
@o0purehate0o He also has always had a very good sense of the vehicles around him and feeling connected to them. Some people get in a vehicle for the first time and they need some time to mesh with it and figure out the way it moves and how much room it takes up but Cleeter seems to just need minutes/hours where as most need days/months of time. It's absolutely insane how many times he's hopped in something for the first time and just looked natural.

I haven't been in a running Blackhawk since the 80s but a zillion hours as a Crew Chief and never ending tinnitus concurs. can still hear that transmission whine in my right ear. and that was using double ear pro.
I cut down trees for a living and I wore ear protection when I was 17 the older guys gave me grief for it but I'm really glad I did I did have some tinnitus but Dr Berg's little exercise help me with that,@@flynlr

We've had a bunch for a while - every time they use to fly over my house all blacked out full of SASR it was such a buzz. Congrats on getting your type rating! I've worked on those for so many years (19) and crewed them for 14 years. Seeing that lower console so bare and with an actual GPS is amazing. That was also a superb roll-on too.

Way back in the 90's, I was an Avionics Mechanic. AH-64, UH-60, OH-58 mainly, with a few other airframes in the mix. Loved it, and it led to some amazing things after. Training never ends. As a back seater Flight Medic, knowing immediate EPs and using the checklist is key to a good flight. Take offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Way back in the day, I was really into RC Helicopters. While I was deployed in Aghanistan, I spoke with a couple of the helicopter pilots and asked if I could check out the helicopters. They brought me out and showed me the Blackhawks and Apaches. I noticed a ton of stickers on the inside of the helicopters. I mentioned to the guy showing me around that I flew RC Helicopters and that I had some RC Heli Magazine stickers and asked if I could add to the stickers. I found a few empty spaces and added a sticker in a few of the copters. I then got some pictures and they were later posted in the magazine. As odd as it may sound, FOB Shank, Afghanistan was a very cool deployment (Accept for the rocket attacks. Those sucked!)

@@imchris5000Well if flying scale R/C stuff transfers over to true size aircraft, the smaller it is the harder it is to fly. As you scale up in size and weight, you don't have to react as quick because the mass slows all movements down. You will never hear a pilot of a large aircraft say.... "I like my women like I like my aircraft, big... Slow... and expensive". That would be a backwoods girl from Kentucky who loves 50oz filets for appetizers and says..." You gonna eat that? "... While pointing at your steak 🥩.

Love the UH60! In 2005 I was at LSA Anaconda and served as a gunner for about 300 hours total. Once the crew chiefs found out I could spin a wrench I was pretty busy, but I loved every second of it. I loved giving the preflight brief to the pax and inevitably would be asked “how far will this thing fly on one engine?” The answer was “Oh she’ll fly right to the crash site “. Delivered deadpan, fucking hilarious! I miss flying in those beasts. Well done man.

I work H60 engines for the Air Force, and it is cool watching you do the run up on these. Normally I would be standing outside on a headset listening to all those callouts, then telling you the blade droop stops are good before I unplug and run away.

Ah, 15 years of memories... Regarding the long start process, imagine you're in a medevac unit and you need to get in the air as soon as possible, we used to go through the checklist up to start, to get everything set up so we could run out in the middle of the night and get rolling in 8 minutes (following everything up with the checklist as we taxi, before takeoff). Also, flying on the tailwheel is cute, but if you ever get the chance again, try a 3 point roll-on landing -- I used to love doing those. You have to get down to about 20 knots on approach and nose over slightly just as you get toward the ground. 😀
Being an aircraft mechanic and seeing my favourite cars content creator do this is something I would never imagine 😂! Happy to see you flying and learning, those are some incredible and complex machines, be safe and enjoy the journey!

Note when flying a two pilot aircraft such as a hawk you should utilize the “FADEC-F” acronym. Fly the aircraft, Alert the crew of the problem, diagnose the emergency procedure, execute the emergency procedure, communicate internally and externally, and continue to fly the aircraft; Just a critic from the simulated low-side failure. Yes it is good to react quickly in an emergency to ensure the problem does not get worse. However, during the low side failure, as the IP was still “flying the aircraft” and “Alerting the crew” of engine indications, you had immediately shot up and placed the PCL in lockout without announcing your actions prior. We train in the Army that before manipulating the PCL in any condition, both pilots need to confirm that your hand is on the correct PCL. In an actual emergency, one that you did not mentally brief for prior to or expect the IP was going to tell you to do, it is a very possible mistake to put the good engine into lockout, or worse, during an engine failure to shutoff the good engine. These mistakes have happened in that aircraft and are very real. You are flying a two pilot aircraft and there are reasons as to why two pilots are required.
Other than back seat quarterbacking your first flight that you were gracious enough to post online for guys like me to learn from; It was extremely impressive to see how you completed a constant angle approach to the ground, roll-on, and autorotation during your first flight which took us months to be taught in flight school!

I've watched quite a few videos of folks flying all sort of aircraft and one thing that has always amazed me is the conversation between the pilot and the tower. Learning how to listen and understand what the tower's telling the pilot is amazing.

I used to be an instructor on the largest Sikorsky helicopter, and always, always wished I could have gotten some UH-60 time. Garrett, you're a natural! My goodness that instructor is a gem! an absolute gem! I'm an aviation enthusiast I can't afford to be a pilot too expensive where I live plus I'm a nervous person but this instructor just hearing how confident and kind and understanding he is just made me calm damn wish more people like him would be out there.
You should definitely upload the video of the whole startup procedure. So far one of the best videos of the cockpit procedures in the hawk for the civilian world.

It’s a Crew Resource Management issue. If your CFI is a dick, that can be a big safety issue. Safety and Aviation go hand in hand.
Hahhh...when in the air...calm collected speak with ease and directness....after action...yeah that's different...debrief will be hard if you fucked up. You're on the dirt now...breathing...did you do something that might not make that possible? Intensive scrutiny of this event will now commence.

I know what you mean, especially when half of the driving instructors can't driver properly themselves it's not even funny.
Entirely different situations. Here's someone driving a car together with thousands of others that are getting into routines, ignoring checking their cars for safety, starting to forget some of the rules or being too relaxed with some rules and sometimes being safed by other drivers that avoided the accident that you didn't even know you're causing. Because it's "normal" and routine and everyone is driving.
And then there's someone spending a lot of money on flying in a machine much more dangerous and expensive than a car. So that student is much more likely to have respect and awareness of the situation. Look at some of the student drivers, thinking they are the born race car drivers or thinking driving is nothing more than accelerating and turning ... I'd probably be a strict and "dick" driving instructor, given most of the students.

Blackhawk is just one of those engineering masterpieces. Absolutely magnificent machine.
But like most helicopters it has a killed a lot of our armed force. The blackhawks crash 3x more than the V22 osprey does, the v280 replacement will be a godsend
@@amazin7006 From an Aussie, yeah they fall out of the sky MUCH too easily. We've lost plenty of soldiers to them as well.
@@amazin7006 The fact that the US Army alone has more than 2000 Black Hawks, and they've been in service since 1979 whereas there are less than 400 Ospreys and they only entered service in 2005 might have something to do with that.

If anything, that means the blackhawk should have a safer record since it has been around much longer (new aircraft tend to crash more due growing pains and lacking skills in maintenance). We are talking crash RATES, not total crashes. Basically "how many accidents happen during X amount of hours of flight?"

It was great to watch you G! I've been a long time subscriber. I was away for a while; but I caught your Hurricane Helene relief flights video. I was watching the vertical descents and hovers in that. I could see how comfortable you were, even in the tight spaces. Now that TH-cam brought this older Blackhawk training video into my feed, I'm even more impressed. Your landings were spot on, and smooth like butter. I loved your, "wheelie," trip down the runway. 😊 It's also always good to make your trainer's heart happy keeping ahead of the bird in the emergency procedures. Well done!

Clete - Seriously, your video reminded me when 3, in '53, Gramps got me a ride in a MASH-Type Bell Helicopter for $25, a shtload for the time. Every Library Wednesday, I read all the aviation mags, & took out max of 5 aviation books for the week. When 4, family friend Ike's place, Dad's old Buddy leafed thru my sketches, paused at Hunter Killer, All Service fighter-bomber. Ike laughed, mussed up my hair sayin', "Hunter-Killer is term for Submarines", but Dad just glared at him, then said, "General, have you ever seen anything Like it, Sir?" Ike said, "As in why, Buddy?" Dad explained, "Big Engined twin so will always return, outer third of wing gull shape so USN would always get their plane back, view from front that of a pissed off bullet w/wings so high speed/low drag, modified Delta-Wing under which we could sling s__t-load of armament, and rear seater to help with dangers behind, target selection, navigation & w/dual controls, he could even bring plane, AND valuable wounded Pilot home together saving you a s__tload of money, General. I took liberty of going thru every scrap of Intelligence obtained for you today, and Ruskies have nothing like it planned for the next 10 Years, General". Ike shouted, "I got it, I got it, I got it...let's call it the, 'PHANTOM', as it sure snuck up on me!!" The name stuck, DOD added the "F4", & later in year, President Eisenhauer dbl Green Lighted it for heavy use in Vietnam, by Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, & Tricky Dick! When left, Buddy Ike w/o Security, escorted us out to Dad's spot. He said to Dad, "Still driven' that old Ford Buddie?" Dad said, "She's got some miles on her, but at least is reliable, General! White House to Howell Michigan is a hike, finally got there, but nowhere to park, & some ahole had their beautiful black Buick Special parked right in Dad's spot. I knew sparks would be flyin', so hunkered down on porch behind chair. Dad growled, "So who's the Company?" Mom said, "No company, your old friend Lucious from Buick Dealer was here & asked if could park his car, but that was last night. I phoned the Buick Dealer, but they say Lucious is not available, but you did get some mail if you'd like to open it". Dad checked his mail, stopped & opened that from Buick Dealer. He opened it, & couple key rings fell out w/2 sets of keys! There was note on Company Stationery from Lucious which read, "Congratulations, you Lucky Dog, from the people of The United States, a Brand New Buick, in appreciation for your never-ending devotion to Your Nation!". Mom had that covered, as said, "Next trip, I'll send 8 dozen peanut butter cookies instead of the usual 7 dozen, so that maybe I too may get a new car"!! She baked 8 doz cookies every time hopin, for that car, but nothin' happened. She had no idea in MAR '45 on Ike's orders of, "Must end war yesterday!", Dad, BAR, & Ammo Carrier attacked bridge over Rhine at Remagen by themselves, clearing 2500+man German Army so fast, even today Historians can't finger out how they did w/o even losing 1 G.I. Ike got his wish ending European Theatre action 8 mos early. Upon U-Boat 234's surrender w/hold full of U-235 Yellow Cake, & several complete 8om8s plus much intel, proving Axis had them, prepped to use them, & schedule was: London, NYC, LA, San Fran, D.C., NYC Again, and London again! At least they would have finally made the A-LIST!! Dad not greedy individual, but then it bugged him wondering how many soles he;d have to save to get a brand new Cadillac!! Boy, I'll bet that woulda pissed Mom off!

From operating businesses to getting a license to legally fly a freakin Blackhawk Helicopter and everything you 2 have accomplished, it's astounding really. I'm a truly sincere fan, and you guys show everyone that anything is possible in our amazing country. You got me rethinking everything I'm doing in life and inspired me and others to keep reaching, never be content, and to dream big and make it happen. Thank you for sharing all the content. Really enjoyed this video. I can very much appreciate your enthusiasm for the experience of flying this helicopter. I am a 75 year old strictly wannabe/wish-I-could helicopter flyer. My only experience was as a passenger in a Huey while serving in the Army back in 1969-71. Being an X-Plane flight simulator user I started out with no intention of playing around with anything but fixed wing. Then decided to try their Nimbus Huey. After flipping it over like a tipped over cow for what seemed an infinite number of times I finally got somewhat airborne and haven't fired up a fixed wing in the simulator since. The vortex ring state is now my biggest challenge but getting better at it. One thing the military taught me was procedures rule. Particularly when operating weaponry and flying any aircraft.
I live in central Idaho in the Nez Perce Forest which may explain why the weather looked so familiar.

Planes are really cool, they will always be my first love, but helicopters have a special spot... they're just... what else beats the air into submission? Everyone else bows down at the feet of bernouli before every flight, but not helicopters 8) They just spool up and get to business. Beautiful machines.
I am a machinist and I worked for the Department of the Army at an Army Depot the rebuilt Blackahawks, I've machined lots parts for the GE T-700/701 engines and also the APU
Im impressed you two did fantastic. The black hawk was my everyday ride in Iraq and it always amazed me how good those guys were. Also fun when you sit right next to the gunner when he cuts loose scary as hell but cool as hell. The first time they popped flares before landing in a hot zone at night I have to say I almost crapped myself lol the gunner said I held my chit together better then some military guys did he said some scream like little girls.Again way to go guys
