I think 10 books is amazing for all the stress that college brings!! I also loved the smile that crept up on your face when you mentioned turtles all the way down for the first time!! :)
I am actually reading the Diviners right now, and it is such a pleasant surprise! As I did not like Beauty Queens I was very sceptical about picking up another Libba Bray book, but this one is something else entirely. I just adore it!
I'm so happy that you loved An Ember in the Ashes so much! I read that book for the first time this year as well and I LOVED IT!!! It took me by surprise how much I loved this book and how easily it became a favorite book of all time for me! A Torch Against the Night is amazing and I hope you love that one as well.
I'm so happy you read An Ember in the Ashes and loved it!!!! I also read it first for a class, I was in a library assistant class and my final project was to pick a book and create something from it. I picked AEITA, read it on Friday, and immediately went out and bought the second book so I could keep reading it. I agree with all of your thoughts on that. And I also loved Turtles! Although I don't have a mental illness, I still struggle with aspects of anxiety, and I too could relate to many portions of the book. Loved the video!
I just marathon read The Diviners series for the first time for the Tome Topple gradation last month and I absolutely LOVED it!! I think they are such phenomenal books!! I can't wait for book 4 to come out to see how it all wraps up!! I'm also getting ready to read An Ember in The Ashes as well so I'm so glad to hear you loved it!!
Tome Topple *readathon* Book 2 of the Diviners is still good, but my least favorite of the 3 so far. I still really enjoyed it, but book 1 and 3 are fantastic!! So if you find The Lair of Dreams a little slow, stick with the series bc Before the Devil Breaks You is amazing and Lair of Dreams is still great on my opinion, just my least favorite of the 3!
I absolutely love Libba Bray! I read The Diviners a while ago, but now I reaaally want to reread it ❤ Definitely going to add Woman At Point Zero to my TBR
I've never been interested in John Green's books but the more I hear about Turtles All The Way Down, the more I want to read it. I'm hoping it will help me understand my own anxiety a little better, which is the main reason I want to pick it up
That's the only part I liked about Turtles. I have anxiety too, and the quotes about OCD and anxiety were so good, amazing representation! Though the plot sucked for me. I gave it 2 stars for the anxiety representation. Hope that helped :)
Yeah, I'm not interested in the plot which is why I'm still on the fence about reading it. It's about them trying to find the son of a billionaire or something, right? I couldn't care less about that part
Yeah, it's kinda funny because I got the impression that Green didn't really care much about the main plot. He definitely gave more attention towards the mental illness parts of the book which IMO completely overshadow the weak plot and pacing issues. It's not even 300 pages so I'd say give it a shot or at least borrow it from the library. :) I would've liked it a lot more if the billionaire plot wasn't in the book.
addictivegamer102 I’ve an audible credit so I think I’m going to give the audio a go. Maybe now that I’m going in expecting the plot to be crap, it won’t bother me too much 😝
I totally can relate: Every year between September and the first half of December I'm in the worst reading slump because school and just life in general get SO BUSY. But the good thing is that Christmas is NEARLY HERE :) so happy reading holidays to you all!
Awesome fall reads!! Woman at Point Zero sounds really intriguing and I’ve been wanting to read The Diviner’s forever! Turtles All the Way Down and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda are also fantastic!! And don’t even get me started on An Ember in the Ashes bc I LOVE THAT SERIES!! The first time I read the book I didn’t appreciate it enough so it was a solid 4 stars, but I gave it another chance and wow I’m so glad I did bc it’s incredible fantasy (and books 2 and 3 are equally amazing) I’m dying for book 4!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've had The Diviners on my TBR shelves for a looooong time, I really need to get to it soon. I just read The Leavers by Lisa Ko, and loved it so much. Highly recommend!
I'm so glad you have The Diviners in your top list. For me the writing was heavy at times and confusing. Wish I had the audio book...but I loved the story and characters too!
I absolutely agree with your review of An Ember in the Ashes. Such fantastic world & character building by Tahir. You really get swept up in it and I lost track of time in the real world. I read this book in one sitting and read the A Torch Against the Night the very next day & pre-ordered the 3rd. You won't be disappointed in the sequel!
I’d love to know which books are asked for a YA class. I wish my University had such a class! But I find it interesting to see which books would be required for this class. I wish I could take it and see which assignments would be required
I love how instead of trying to make it sound like you read 30 books a month like a lot of youtubers you are just plain honest and go: I have to study and I have a life. 10 books is still a great number. And it is! It's a pretty damn good number. I hate when people are like: Yeah, I read 8 books this week... and when you go look at their vlogs they listened to 8 audio books in double speed while doing a million others things instead of paying attention to the book. Audio books are great. But reading is not a race. That doesn't really count for me. That's why I don't manage to read as many books as I want and my TBR pile is huge: lack of time. But I'd rather read three books in a month and actually read them than just go for the numbers. Quality tops quantity everyday.
I haven't read any of these, but I'm going to now! A recent find that totally blew me away is called Unbecoming. It's also one that the audio narration is absolutely superb.
Turtles all the way down was my first read of December and I loved it! ❤️ I identified with Aza so many times and sometimes her thoughts (like the fear of not being real and suddenly realizing that you are real and gonna die some day) were so similar to mine! I started questioning my mental health and no other book ever has affected so much to me!
I'm not sure I ever read ten books in a year when I was in college so I'm still proud of you! I also loved Turtles and Simon this quarter, but my favorites were the Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows duology. I'm super late to the game on those but managed to not get spoiled, and couldn't put them down. I totally understand now why you love Kaz and Inej so much. :-)
I'm so glad you loved An Ember in the Ashes:) A Torch Against the Night is (in my opinion) even better than the first one. It's excellent!! I love this series and I can't wait for the third book.
Hannah, I'm wondering if you have read any of Khalid Hosseini's books, my favorite of his is The Kite Runner. If you haven't you should his books are amazing!
Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a really cute read! I enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the movie too. And I definitely want to read The Diviners at some point since I’ve heard nothing but good things about it!
I'm so glad you liked Simon! It's one of my all time favourites! (I was so worried for the movie but I really trust your opinion, so I guess I can stop worrying now. So happy to hear you thought it was perfect!!!)
May I ask why you reread Divergent? I reread the trilogy last year, and it was so painfull to do, I hated it even more than the first time... I'm so glad you read An ember in the ashes, I love it so much, I can't wait for the third book! Also, that must be so cool to study it in a class! Thank you for the amazing content!!
Guess I won't read Turtles All The Way Down since I read a book about a girl with OCD, anxiety and PTSD in the past and it was so triggering that the night I finished it I had nightmares and woke up to a panic attack, plus it put me in a blocking mode that just 2 years later I've began to read books again
I didnt even finish the video and give it a like cuz i adore your videos! Thanks for filming the video when you're not feeling well!! 11 books are a lot! Sorry about my english, not my first language and I'm kinda rusty writing it! Just wanted to thank you for your effort
Honeslty just the fact that you read books at all during that first semester of uni is impressive! Also, I spy Graceling, Fire and Bitterblue in the background... Did you read them?? If you didn't, I highly recommend them - amazing characters! My favorite between the 3 of them is Fire! Alright I'm done nooow ❤️ Love you!
i choose the worst time to read the night circuis - i read it during november while i had my gcse mocks and it legit took me a whole month to finish it so i didnt get to fully enjoy it ughh im gonna re read it soon
I want to read all your top 5's but the book I'm looking forward to reading is All Rights Reserved. I'm getting it for Christmas and plan to start it right away. Have you heard of it, or read it already?
I have ocd and depression and I have yet to read a book I can relate to in the mental illness area. Has anyone with ocd read turtles all the way down? If so, what do you think?
I just finished reading a torch against the night and I didn't enjoy it at all compared to the first book which I loved. :( Though I thought it picked up towards the end so I might still read the next one haha
Totally agree on 13 Reasons Why having 2/5 stars, because while I really found interesting and necessary that someone discussed such an important topic in a YA, I didnt like the writing (but maybe it was because I was too in love with the TV series)
Currently reading Turtles all the way down and while the plot more or less interest me, the main character and her narration is already very dear to me. It is a bit triggering though; felt dizzy a few times reading it.
Finally someone who didn't like Thirteen Reasons Why! I also disliked that book and am happy to hear of others who did, I feel like it was so hyped up in the book community.
I actually don't find it weird because I (pretty recently) drank a whole small size bottle of mouth wash myself... Mental illness can be very difficult to explain sometimes...
Of course its not normal- she suffers from a mental illness so please dont call compulsive thoughts and actions weird its kinda..rude /sincerely someone with OCD
? meh I didn't mean to cause any offence at all it's just you don't normally get an insight into mental illnesses such as OCD wich surprised me and gave me a new improved understanding as I didn't know much about before x I did not mean to upset or offend anyone x

I think 10 books is amazing for all the stress that college brings!! I also loved the smile that crept up on your face when you mentioned turtles all the way down for the first time!! :)
💖💖💖💖
After taking your "The Night Circus" recommendation and drooling over that book profusely... I'm willing to take your word on good reads RELIGIOUSLY.
BookMeUpScotty I FEEL YA ! I read tnc in like two and a half weeks which is so bad but I’m in a reading slump too lol
I love that little smile you got when you started talking about Turtles All the Way Down. I love it so so so much as well
You have a course about YA? Wow that's amazing. Can you share the syllabus. I got curious..
Martha Julia Martins Sure!

I am actually reading the Diviners right now, and it is such a pleasant surprise! As I did not like Beauty Queens I was very sceptical about picking up another Libba Bray book, but this one is something else entirely. I just adore it!
you should do what emma did, the video on books you've changed you're opinion on since you first read them
I read the Diviners back in October and fell absolutely in love with it. One of my favorites of the year
I'm so happy that you loved An Ember in the Ashes so much! I read that book for the first time this year as well and I LOVED IT!!! It took me by surprise how much I loved this book and how easily it became a favorite book of all time for me! A Torch Against the Night is amazing and I hope you love that one as well.

really want to read the diviners!! the original cover is so beautiful ahh i still can't get over all of the cover changes

You know it's a Good™ day when Hannah uploads 💫
First Emmmabooks, now you... I’m sooooo happy big booktubers are talking about my favourite series, the Diviners!!!!!!!!!!

Fav fall Reads:
Wonder Woman Warbringer, which was soooo good
Strange the Dream with precious Lazalo who I love and adore so much.
YESSS The Diviners. I binge-read the whole series - you're going to love the rest of them.
I really love these kinds of videos! Hearing about books you read and getting recommendations always inspires me to pick up new books. Thanks Hannah!
I've had The Diviners on my TBR shelves for a looooong time, I really need to get to it soon.
I just read The Leavers by Lisa Ko, and loved it so much. Highly recommend!

Ten books is awesome!! I hope you'll listen to the other books in the Diviners series! it's awesome!
Your videos tend to relax me, and I'm not sure why, but I wanted to say thank you because of that! You have a really soothing voice.

I'm currently reading An Ember In The Ashes! I am on page 54, but loving it already! :)
I haven't read any of these, but I'm going to now! A recent find that totally blew me away is called Unbecoming. It's also one that the audio narration is absolutely superb.

I'd be interested to know your thoughts on Thirteen Reasons Why. Will you have time to do a review?
Elaine Gibbs Yes please, I would love It too
I was thinking the same thing
Elaine Gibbs she's already talked about it in one of her videos. I think it was "popular books I didn't like", or " books I don't like".
It's part of her Worst of 2017 video, posted after this one.
I'm not sure I ever read ten books in a year when I was in college so I'm still proud of you! I just finished reading "Before the Devil Breaks You" (Diviner's #3) over Thanksgiving and I'm reading "Turtles All the Way Down" now.
I'm so glad you loved An Ember in the Ashes:) A Torch Against the Night is (in my opinion) even better than the first one. It's excellent!! I love this series and I can't wait for the third book.
FEEL BETTER!!
Hannah, I'm wondering if you have read any of Khalid Hosseini's books, my favorite of his is The Kite Runner. If you haven't you should his books are amazing!
Sooo excited for the Love, Simon movie!
Hi Hannah! I hope you're feeling better and that you had a wonderful holiday and birthday!
I'm dying for that full review of Turtles all the way down 🙌
Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a really cute read! I enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the movie too. And I definitely want to read The Diviners at some point since I’ve heard nothing but good things about it!
Does anyone have any idea where I can get The Diviners with that gorgeous cover art? I can’t seem to find it anywhere 😭
YAS THE DIVINERS!!!
when you were giving your brief "wrap-up" at the beginning whenever i saw one i had already read i just went I AGREEEEEEE
I want to read the Diviners so so bad !!
Great video! An Ember in the Ashes is one of my favorite books of all time!
I hope you'll feel better soon! Lots of love from the Netherlands🐝
I'm so glad you liked Simon! It's one of my all time favourites! (I was so worried for the movie but I really trust your opinion, so I guess I can stop worrying now. So happy to hear you thought it was perfect!!!)
have you ever read “call me by your name”? it’s so incredible and the movie is coming out all over the US in January
May I ask why you reread Divergent? I reread the trilogy last year, and it was so painfull to do, I hated it even more than the first time...
I'm so glad you read An ember in the ashes, I love it so much, I can't wait for the third book! Also, that must be so cool to study it in a class!
Thank you for the amazing content!!
dont beat yourself up about not reading as much! everyone gets into reading slumps and the only direction to go from there is up and out of it!
Turtles All the Way Down was fabulous!!
please make a review for simon vs the homosepians (for both the movie and book) after you finish the movie screening? ^^
A Torch Against the Night has more magical aspects. I really enjoyed it!
I've been waiting for this video since the top 5 of summer! 💖💖
I hope it was worth the wait!
Okay now I need The Diviners in my life. You always get me so excited and inspired to read Hannah!
I love these type of videos🙌🏼
Guess I won't read Turtles All The Way Down since I read a book about a girl with OCD, anxiety and PTSD in the past and it was so triggering that the night I finished it I had nightmares and woke up to a panic attack, plus it put me in a blocking mode that just 2 years later I've began to read books again

I have ocd and depression and I have yet to read a book I can relate to in the mental illness area. Has anyone with ocd read turtles all the way down? If so, what do you think?
Divergent 2 out of 5?. It is one of my favourites. I would give 5 out of 5 for it.
I just finished reading a torch against the night and I didn't enjoy it at all compared to the first book which I loved. :( Though I thought it picked up towards the end so I might still read the next one haha
I love 13 reasons why! That is the same reason I haven't read fireblood yet...I don't want it to taint my love of frostblood!!!
Re-read also counts
How many stars did you give to an enchantment of Ravens? I think that part was left out. I was just curious since I plan on starting it soon 😊
Michaela Justus she gave it 2 stars :)
Michaela Justus I forgot to say it in the video but I gave it 2 Stars 😄
Did you rearrange your shelves?
I'm sitting on the floor in this video so these are just my bottom shelves, but I am currently rearranging them!
Had to stop reading GOT because you uploaded a new video! ❤️
That's pure dedication, thank you kind friend
Totally agree on 13 Reasons Why having 2/5 stars, because while I really found interesting and necessary that someone discussed such an important topic in a YA, I didnt like the writing (but maybe it was because I was too in love with the TV series)
Like you I bought Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda ages ago but I am planning to read it soon!!
By the way I have literally 49 books on my TBR shelf but watching your videos I always end up adding up one or two more!
The Diviners was so good! And I totally agree with you on your thoughts on Evie. :D
Currently reading Turtles all the way down and while the plot more or less interest me, the main character and her narration is already very dear to me. It is a bit triggering though; felt dizzy a few times reading it.
EMBER! EMBER! EMBER!
TORCH! TORCH! TORCH!
REAPER! REAPER! REAPER!
Everybody is taking about this book of John Green.

Great video
the best book I've read this fall has been 'Salem's lot by stephen king
Finally someone who didn't like Thirteen Reasons Why! I also disliked that book and am happy to hear of others who did, I feel like it was so hyped up in the book community.
I LOVED turtles all the way down but the hand sanitizer bit was weird x
Amazing video queen x
P.s what do you study ??
💟💟💟
I actually don't find it weird because I (pretty recently) drank a whole small size bottle of mouth wash myself... Mental illness can be very difficult to explain sometimes...
Of course its not normal- she suffers from a mental illness so please dont call compulsive thoughts and actions weird its kinda..rude /sincerely someone with OCD
? meh I didn't mean to cause any offence at all it's just you don't normally get an insight into mental illnesses such as OCD wich surprised me and gave me a new improved understanding as I didn't know much about before x
I did not mean to upset or offend anyone x
ghostgirl yeah I understood its all good buddy!
Finally Early!!!
Hey Hannah, I just discoverd this channel and this whole booktube situation, and one ting that throw me off a bit was the fact that it seems to be almost all girl audience. Both the coment section and the creators are all mostly female, Could you talk about that in a future video maybe? like why do you think that is, im curious...
Also It would be interesting if you could make a list of books you think could apeal to a male audience, or a mistery/horror list (im saying that because i notice most of your recomendations involve romance, YA, and female centric protagonist, witch I honestly dont think we guys really find interesting)
In my experience girls are generally more avid readers and will make their love of reading/books more known. This is probably because of many reasons but to keep this short you end up seeing more female readers on TH-cam and goodreads and such as a result
Hiii Hannah!
hiiiii
omg you are so gorgeous
Are you Persian? You might look like a Persian. 🤔
Greta Bergmann she is :)
Honestly I feel like you're too nice about reviews and everything is 5/5 stars
I mean I gave nearly half of these books 3 stars or less. I only give a book 5 stars if I truly loved it, and I happened to love a lot of these
First
Yeah I wasn’t first looooooool
Does anyone have any idea where I can get The Diviners with that gorgeous cover art? I can’t seem to find it anywhere 😭
