Thank you for this great tutorial! it was really helpful. When I changed the filter, I was sitting on the passenger side. I just bent over to the driver's side. It was a reasonably comfortable position, so it was actually way easier job than I expected. I also didn't remove the side plastic trim panel and did not disconnect the accelerator pedal connector.

Focus is a great car, but god save us from the neanderthals who designed this filter location

I have a 2006 and a 2010 model - changed the filter in both... it's a pain...they could have put the access to the filter on the passenger side, or in the glovebox, or even behind the stereo...

On the right hand drive version the pollen filter is on the passenger side but still a pain, you have to completely remove the fuse box & bracket to gain access to the cover.

Managed to do this by just screwing the filter cover off. Very tight space!
The pedal connector was stuck so it was the only way (connector came off easily the first time I tried it, but I put it back on and then it got stuck).

In your video at 01:08 you disconnect pedal cable before putting pedal aside and change cabin filter. Haynes manual states that you can do this a maximum of 10 times. I think you should mention this in your video and also can you tell us do they say to disconnect the cable in Ford official Repair Guide? Thanks - This is a quote from Haynes Manual:
Disconnect the wiring plug from the throttle position sensor, then unscrew the 3 mounting nuts and remove the pedal/sensor assembly from the bulkhead studs (see illustration). Note that the sensor is not available separately from the pedal assembly. Note: Ford insist that the sensor wiring plug can only be disconnected 10 times before is becomes irreversibly damaged. Use a marker pen to record each disconnection on the side of the connector. Only disconnect the plug if it ís absolutely necessary.

@Slavko_G No. Couldn't find enything like that. ''Haynes manual states'' You state that it states but dont state which one states that and there was nothing to be found on the net. So sounds like bs to me.

Just did this: flexible filters are easier. You need a DEEP 10mm socket and this goes easiest with a socket wrench to break the bolts and remove with a 1/4 socket screwdriver with deep 10mm socket. A super hard filter can't make the bend around the steering column.

Yes I noticed this too, when AutoDoc took the old filter out @1:50s, it was showing 'Air Flow' direction the wrong way. The Air flow should be flowing INTO the car cabin, not towards the engine bay.

    • @КотикиШахматисты

When they took out the old filter, the stripes were horizontal. And when they installed the new one, the stripes were vertical... So which is correct?
The arrow is towards the interior - this is understandable.

Is it possible to remove the chip (connector) from the pedal? Maybe then it is necessary to make an adaptation?

Such a terrible design on this car.
I have the UK version and you need to remove the glove box and fuse panel to gain access and it is still difficult. 45mins-1 hour to complete. Done the same on our other car, a Renault Modus, takes less than 2 minutes.

I’ve got the mk2 and mk3 and the mk2 is the worst pollen filter I’ve ever had to change. The access through the scuttle on the mk1 was bad enough that most garages would refuse to replace them

What a bitch of a job. I'm not surprised when I finally got the old pollen filter out it looked like it hadn't ever been changed. Lots of cuts and bruises. I didn't need to disconnect the loom from the gas pedal, just tucked it away behind the brake pedal. And the miniscule screws on the filter housing were a 7mm socket. What is a #8 anyway? Millimetres surely? Otherwise thanks for the explanation and torture hour!

    • @balaclavaman6301
      @balaclavaman6301 ปีที่แล้ว

They are 7mm not 8mm as stated in the video. And a pain to remove and tighten because the heads don´t have any depth so they don´t grip to the socket.
