Really looking forward to this. I was with my dad when he bought his 78 off the lot in Yuma, AZ brand new. I have it now and in the process of getting parts to rebuild it. Really want to see how you are doing the AC upgrade.
I have always liked these trucks , the stepside with the exhaust stacks is just too cool not to like. And of course I always thought that these would be even better with an old 354 or 392 under the hood .
Lil Reds are cool. I've got a good friend that has 10 of them. I work on them for him. The 3 prong oil pressure switch does feed the choke wire. It kills power to the choke if the engine dies. I think the sensor in the runner is an intake charge temperature switch. Alternator field wires will work either way if they're long enough.
Thanks you, John. I had really wondered about that intake sensor. I will preserve and replace the stuff in this harness as needed. What’s better tha one LRE? 10!
I almost bought one in 1978 but settled foe a Dodge Magnum instead with factory T-tops, no AC. It was ordered with a 400 cu in engine and later replaced with a bitchin 440, 906 heads, 10.5 -1 pistons, windage tray, headers. Woke the car up!

@@cliffhaupt5413 You would need that squarebore to spreadbore adapter. There are open and 4 hole models. The only downfall is they are usually aluminum, and transfer heat to the carb. The other option is change the intake.

Can't believe you don't have the carb plate adapter to pull engines they are plenty cheap. Like yourself I have seen plenty of "custom" work done on vehicles that really make one scratch their head like WTH were they thinking or not thinking. I quit wearing my wedding ring years ago when I worked as an electrician, wasn't allowed and after watching many safety films where people lost their fingers because of a ring on their finger I never went back to wearing it, it is safe in the dresser drawer, my finger is a little safer as well.
We had an electronics guy at the plant that lost his ring finger due to an electrical short, but it is not just electrical contact that can cause one to lose their finger, many have been ripped off and I kind of like my fingers myself as they come in handy at times. As far as the carberator plates I have pulled 440's with the transmission attached using a ratchet strap to balance or keep level with no issues so I believe they are trustworthy, I have a chain with small flat plates welded to the ends w/holes I use for six cylinders sometimes using a ratchet strap to balance them.
