9:34 That sailing yacht is M5 (formerly Mirabella V). She is the largest single-masted sailing yacht in the world. 254ft. long, 48ft. beam. Her mast is over 300 feet above the waterline! She can do 20+ knots under sail! A truly amazing craft.
... No way!!! Nanaimo, BC? A few steps ago I commented that Nanaimo would be a good port of call for Uma. Nanaimo is my home too so I have to say something. We’re proud of the flag you fly, even with all our faults. We’re proud of you both, together. We look forward to welcoming you home to Nanaimo. Welcome home! I want to help :-)
Thanks so much for sharing your steps with us - loving following the adventure! So impressed with Kika's free hand writing and design choices - love the orange lighting on the panel! Cushions look amazing!
Uma's newly painted name on its stern looks great once again..... Kika is so artistic. The living areas on this vessel just keep getting better and the blackboard continues to show that it was an outstanding idea. Good to see you are moving on again....keep safe.
I went back to your very first videos of the boat and it's just amazing to see what you've done with it. If I didn't see it, I wouldn't believe it's the same boat. Like a caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly you have done amazing things and should be so proud of yourselves. I just wish I had your talent and drive! Thanks for setting such a good example of what can be done with a little perserverance and imagination
I love the fact that two of my favorite sailing families got to meet up. I met Totem Crew when they came into Bermuda almost 2 years ago now (Yikes!). Such an awesome family. If you guys are planning to come up here, I'll happily get another Bermuda Welcome gift together for you guys!
20 more vids to go and I will have officially watched every sequential video you guys have out out. LOL. Thanks again for sharing your journey with me. 😎🤗
Nanaimo! I've never been there, but in 1968, when I went to Alaska with my parents (the Alaska Hwy was almost entirely unpaved then, miles on end of rhythmic potholes), I remember hearing on the radio about the Bathtub Race. It stuck in my mind, along with the name Nanaimo.
Beautiful cushion upgrade! Still loving the vlogs...keep up the good work and keep them coming! I'm dipping my toes in the water, so to speak (I'm currently shopping around for a used 30' boat to sail and help me improve my skills and gain confidence) here in MD on the Chesapeake Bay. I'll do that for a couple years, while I continue to downsize my possessions and sell my almost 1900 sq ft house (which I don't even use half the rooms and bathrooms). After that the plan is to start the process of looking for a nice blue-water cruiser, cut the lines and head out! Wish me luck!
Nanaimo... WOW 😮 Out on Vancouver Island Eh.?? I watch all of Jim Howard’s videos, he flys a Bever float plane for North West Seaplanes to all the fishing lodges on the Island and up the Coast of BC every Summer, sorta like the one on the back of the Big boat at 9:37 but Bigger. Very cool place to live, Departure Bay.. 👍😎✅
Keka, don't frown on ur hair, u have a beautiful curly afro, people wish they can have ur hair. Your hair is long when it's permed down but we love ur CURLY AFRO.
Nanaimo BC!!!!! Hello from Victoria BC. So glad to see a BC boy staying warm in the sun of the Caribbean, while we are cold and wet on the west coast. Been watching you guys for awhile now and love what you do.
Great video! Thanks. Those guys on Cool Change are shooting with a RED camera?! Wow! I gotta find out what they are working on to have that kind of hardware.
Did you make Nanaimo bars to rechristen the boat? Go there often. Bought my aunts old cabin there and love to spend summers up that way. I've lived in California too long so I run back to Santa Cruz, CA for winter! Always enjoy your adventures. Cheers!
Great job with the lee cloths! I've been wondering what you've been doing for sleeping down below lol. Careful as a fellow man and sailor the sewing is addicting! I've got 4 sewing machines now. Are you liking your singer or are you still hoping for a sailrite machine?
Usually hugging someone while you are holding a knife is on the rules list right next to running with scissors, but since Kika made brownies, she gets a pass! Glad you found a cushion maker in Santa Marta. And guy, it is so cool that you can sew. Some say it isn't manly. I say those that say that have never had their sails shredded in a blow. ☺
I saw "the giant boat" in Phuket in April 2017. As I remember is its name Ramsay. The mast is 90m high. I spoke little bit with the captain. They had to repair a few things.
That is a fabulous deal on the new foam & cushions ! OMG red dye is the most toxic chemicals of all the colours. Please use vinyl or rubber gloves next time. Remember anything that touches your skin has to be dealt with by your liver and your kidneys . Great video , You have one of the best channels on TH-cam . Cheers and Fair Winds.
You two are incredible people to have the inspiration, drive and tenacity to see your dream through. I admire you both for your ambition and dedication doing what the vast majority of dreamers would shy away from. I’m loving the videos btw. Very well done. Just one question if you don’t mind, where is your Liferaft? Please tell me you have one and I just haven’t noticed it. I want to stop fretting for you! All the best, Tony Barracuda.
Can I suggest (from experience) that the lee-cloths will be way more effective if you have battens along the top edge? You can even gain multiple benefits by literally using sail batten material, which can then be used to replace ones in the mainsail in case of their breakage

You two are wonderful sailing friends to the people you have met. The Totem boat family seems very nice along with others.

That’s cool giving the security guard a pie! One act of kindness and you have a friend for life.
Yay Boat Projects! Also working into the night with head lamps is hardcore!
Uma's newly painted name on its stern looks great once again..... Kika is so artistic. The living areas on this vessel just keep getting better and the blackboard continues to show that it was an outstanding idea. Good to see you are moving on again....keep safe.
Ed Rosenberger
You can tell the boat is owned by a couple of architects...its given me ideas for my house ha ha.
I wish I had the skill to paint such an ornate name by hand - it looks great .
It's unbelievable what you guys have made out of Uma's interior. Soooo beautiful!
Nice job on the cushions. Totem's kids are a hoot. A sea plane on board a sailboat. My dreamboat just got larger. Have fun, stay safe.
your boat has never looked better.
thanks for the video...awesome as usual.
See them leave was both forlorn and sad, exciting and wondrous! All at once!
I went back to your very first videos of the boat and it's just amazing to see what you've done with it. If I didn't see it, I wouldn't believe it's the same boat. The group photo in your boat was great 👍
So Kika speaks English, French, Creole, and Spanish? She'd be a valuable partner on a world tour.

Beautiful updates and can't wait to see what happens having another person on board. Can't wait to see still binge watching..💜💜
love how informative your steps are! I am also looking to sail with my soul mate and kids soon. you guys are an inspiration!
Sweet! The crew from Sea Change!! I hope they post more videos soon. Awesome content!
Captain Scurvy Yeah, I thought the same. Their best in my opinion is going up the Rio Dulce. Good to se them still around.
I was very impressed with their video's but they stopped posting :(
I am addicted to sea change. Where the hell are they? The best sailing videos ever!
Please come back
Great job on the refinish, and the lettering. We also liked your color choice inside, it looks very nice. Safe travels.
20 more vids to go and I will have officially watched every sequential video you guys have out out. LOL. Thanks again for sharing your journey with me. 😎🤗
I had a Pearson 28-2. Those hatch covers! Mine had'em too. So ugly, you have to love'em! You really did that boat justice.
Love your vids. Lovely people.
I love the big hair! What a contrast from how we usually see you.
OMG - THE wine glass lives! Good vid guys. Kika - the hair is you, please don't lose it.
That’s the way to do it! Your DIY’s are so spiffy!
small paint rollers are adorable! and Kika ukeing 3:24 this hair is insane....oh! we're sharing it....Seth is moving in!.... ...lol

Nanaimo! I grew up there! 🇨🇦 Cheers!
Always sad but still good to say goodbye! Fair winds!
13:00 I like when he's talking about getting rid of a crew member, he's sharpening the Cutlass!
What a super episode. Loved it!
Logo looking good at 0:23 :) Especially the placement of the vane pipe...
She's got skills! And pot brownies....yeah!
Love your side show Bob hair. Some very serious hair and the videos are great also
Beautiful cushion upgrade! Still loving the vlogs...keep up the good work and keep them coming! Classic cruising episode. That is exactly what cruising is all about - people and places.
Great video as usual :) .. Awesome that you guys are sailing under Canadian registration now :)
Kika I love your hair... I wish my wife's hair was 1/2 and curly as yours
Hey you can drill holes in the foam to make it softer. The more holes the cushier it will get.
Nice to see you again. It is fun. ;-) Hey, there is one old saying - Do not tap cups on boat! You can wake the dead sailors, they are thirsty too ;-)
i knew Dan was an Island boy! Hello from Port Alberni!!
Great video thanks for sharing, from your friends here in Florida, smooth sailing.⛵🌬
$230 is a great deal from what you would pay here in America. Looks great! Thanks for sharing. Good job on the editing as well.
Kika, on top of this you are an ARTIST!
Very Cute episode with Totem :)
Safe passages Guys!
Hey, we met Lagniappe in Martinique. Fellow New Orleaneans. Also in Grenada later. Nice to see them in your video.
Keka, don't frown on ur hair, u have a beautiful curly afro, people wish they can have ur hair. Your hair is long when it's permed down but we love ur CURLY AFRO.
Nanaimo! Far out we are berthed at Stones Marina in Nanaimo
I own several of those knives. Good knives.
14:28 - Sea Change, that RED Cam, tho!!!
I was in your home port two weeks ago during the storm of the decade. Better stay where you are, it’s warmer...
Bryan from Vancouver
As always thankyou
Dan, you start a side channel, and make videos about how you build and engineer things. I always find your methods very intriguing.
like it nice job ...all colors in boat all good ...

You hair are amazing like this!!!!
Without railings on the boat please run lines from bow to stern so you can clip in safety safety saftey

Great editing on this, good flow, etc,m etc....keep up the good work!

You can NEVER have too much pizza! ❤️

Did you make Nanaimo bars to rechristen the boat? Go there often. Bought my aunts old cabin there and love to spend summers up that way. I've lived in California too long so I run back to Santa Cruz, CA for winter! Always enjoy your adventures. Cheers!
That's a serious piece of camera gear those guys were rocking. Do they have a channel or something?
Great job with the lee cloths! I've been wondering what you've been doing for sleeping down below lol. Careful as a fellow man and sailor the sewing is addicting! I've got 4 sewing machines now. Are you liking your singer or are you still hoping for a sailrite machine?
Does the totem boat family have a TH-cam channel? I’d love to be able to check that out.
Gente Bella! People nice!
Love yourre (natural) hair Kika!!
Now just repaint your non-skid with the light grey Kiwi Grip! It will really tie everything together.
I saw "the giant boat" in Phuket in April 2017. As I remember is its name Ramsay. The mast is 90m high. I spoke little bit with the captain. They had to repair a few things.

Hey guys, I noticed at about 4:55 you have riveted in portlights. Have you re-sealed these at all, and if so how did you deal with the rivets?
Love the hair! lol
I love your hair Kika!!!
Is Nanaimo B.C. where Nanaimo bars originated? My wife loves those things. Found them when visiting friends in Ottawa.
Yup!!! 80% of the reason we chose that port! ;) They're DELICIOUS!!
I’ve been binge watching and knew you were a Canadian but had know idea Dan you were from the Island !!! Cheers from Parksville 😀
Can I suggest (from experience) that the lee-cloths will be way more effective if you have battens along the top edge?
You can even gain multiple benefits by literally using sail batten material, which can then be used to replace ones in the mainsail in case of their breakage
+Tony Stott thats a really good idea :) we might make some out of PVC. It will definitely help. Thanks for the suggestion.
