I don't normally comment on You Tube. However in this case I have to say respect to you all. I am now a retired pleasure sailor and over the years had to take on many of the projects you show. But you have done them at a mooring and in a small dock. We would usually do them on the hard over the winter. The easy way. You guys took them head on and all i can say is you have my admiration and respect. Well done to you all.
You’re one of my new favourite channels! I’ve started from the beginning and made it here so far! Love the adventure so far! I am so impressed and inspired!
When I learnt to sail, way back in the 20th C, the language was "Ready About, Lee Ho" So you knew when to bring the jib, genoa, foresail just at the perfect time to catch the wind to make sure the tack is competed rather than falling off. I notice that "modern" helmsmen don't use this ancient instruction any more. Similarly with a gybe "Ready to Gybe, Gybe Ho" which helps to make sure nobody gets a broken skull!
Haha. Yeah, for some reason, we've adopted: Ready, Steady, Freddie!. If you've never heard it before, don't worry, it's because we made it up. Unique to our boat. No idea where it came from.
You guys would make all the architects from the state of Indiana proud. You have done so much to the boat, it looks super. May God be with you and safe travels.
That Air BnB boat you stayed on in Belize was a Westsail 32, I believe, and now, in the opening sequence here, there is another (slightly beat-up) Westsail 32 tied up next to you (under cover??) in Rio Dulce. SWEET! Good work on rebuilding the hull-deck joint. I'll be keen to understand what happened to that battery-cell that melted a terminal. Bizarre! Bon voyage!
S/v uma look pretty. Last couple episodes remind me of the "don't buy a couch days". You two look happy and that makes you fun too watch. Just a ty comment.
I seem to bounce around, not knowing to wear a jacket of bathing suite. You guys were in Norway and now in Guatemala but it’s all good. Enjoyed your tour of the Mayan ruins.
You guys have done so much work on her! She looks great! Always a job to see her under way, especially since my boat too is a 1973 Pearson 36.5. Great video with the drone. Oh and when I was an LDS missionary in Guatemala in 1983 I went to Tikal several times. My area was Poptun, ,Peten so this episode was especially near and dear to my heart. When I was there we climbed up the front of El Gran Jaguar. Too bad you didn't get that experience. It's just really steep and tiny steps but yes, I can see why they would want to preserve the condition from so many climbers. Until next time, Que Dios los bendiga! Kika can tack!!! Woot woot!! :-)
Uma, looks great, oh did I mention the beautiful sunset, you guys get to see you at all, thank you for allowing me to sail with you for a time and it was wonderful, "Life happens fast, enjoy every moment"...!!!
Your vessel is looking great....and is bound to be worth far more now than when you purchased her. The electrical propulsion system seems to have increased its range and I'm sure it's nice to be motoring without a bunch of noise. This was a very interesting episode.....thank you all three!!!
Just watched all of the videos of Rio Dulce. You guys are amazing, adapting to doing things the Way of the South... don't have exactly what you need? Look at what you have and figure it out. The deck was a big job in any case, but a HUGE job on the water (and then on the dock). Was a haul out not an option? So much easier on the hard. I notice you didn't put the toe rails back on. After all the work you did on the hull/deck joint... are you going to reinstall them? As you know, they are a critical safety system at sea. Uma is really shining!
Was so expecting Kika to say "wacha goin' a do about it" when the genoa caught tacking like Dan did with her solo tack a few videos ago :-)! Uma looks so good with her new paint, really beautiful! I do miss the wood a bit but she looks alot more modern without it!
The finished boat after all of those projects looks amazing. Tikal looks amazing - definitely a place to add to your bucket list! Love the end with the sailing on the water and the sunset behind you. Great video! Cheers!
A great episode bringing back wonderful memories of visiting Tikal in 1979. It looks like they have done a lot of excavation since then. There were no wooden steps and very limited places that were off limits. BTW, the lookouts at the rebel base in the original Star Wars film were standing on one of the temples looking across the jungle. You can see other temples with the trees still in place. That’s what it looked like when we visited. And Uma looks great, too. You certainly earned the break!
Boat looks great guys. I've been following you for about a year now, your a very inspiring peice of my Sailing Pie. Love what you guys have done with your boat through out your travels. Safe travels and a big hello from Lethbridge Alberta.
Wild Tikal has changed so much, I was there ~25 years ago and you could climb the ruin faces and things were well maintained but not to the same level they are now. The stairs were a difficult climb for adults - most doing butt scoots up and down because of the grade and shallow steps. The temples themselves look quite a bit more worn, I guess its good they are taking steps to preserve it.
Kika nailing that solo tack like a boss!!!! Hey speaking of muscles.... it would be nice to see you on those silks again. That's always super impressive.
Uma looks beautiful and again you are letting us learn about things in other country’s that I would have never known before. Thank you guys so much stay safe look forward to next time.
Boat looks great, the spartan top side and crisp toe rail is beautiful, looks dry and super fast, I like it without the lifelines, you will probably want them back for storage and safety. You guys stay clipped on climbing around the new deck at night, and, please, especially clip on in any weather. Thanks for continued nice videos, Dave V, FLa.
First off, I love your channel, great videos, great innovations, and lots of impressive boat work,... BUUUUT,... first no lifelines, and now no toerails and no non-skid (just primer)... you have massively upped your risk factor offshore!!!
Epic episode! Congratulations guys. Thank you so much for your hard work, which has stopped me from getting mine done. 😌 Every ep I say, OK no more, ... well maybe one more... (sigh). Really enjoyable series so far, and storytelling/filming is the best. I love seeing all the boat projects too.
Hey, don’t know if anyone’s told you yet, but Jaguars are large cats that live in South America. They are absolutely beautiful. I have seen them on documentaries.
I went up by the steps on the pyramid in Tikal. And slept a night up there. A guard came up, and was paid some $ + a bear. There were no tourists. Tikal is an interesting place. Visit it if you are near.
Uma looks amazing! What a great result from all the work You guys put into her! Congratulations and enjoy the fruits of the fantastic and huge effort! :-) Safe seas and best wishes from COLD Norway, in which waters and fjords You have to sail sometime in the future! You will love it!
Kika, Dan and Seve (?), Uma is looking wonderful! Good job guys. Tikal looks like a marvelous place. My wife and I just returned from a Panama Canal cruise and we stopped in Guatemala but unfortunately a tour to Tikal was about $800 a person. Too much for me. But we still had a nice time. Wish that I could be there but these videos are the next best thing. Enjoy and be safe.
Can I request the music titles be brought back? At 13:01 you guys are leaving the dock and I'm loving that song but didn't see a title pop up. I'm adding to my sailing playlist from your videos :)
If you liked Tikal and you are still in the area. You should go to Semuc Chempey in Lanquin and do el mirador and the water caves. But Sounds like you may have shoved off already.
Another great video. Boat looks great. Do you miss the toe rails? Any leaks? The boat looks great without the life lines, are you going to put them back on?
I am so glad your saw the sun rise, I was in Tikal 2 years ago and did the early morning trip to see the sun rise but it was cloudy so did not see it. Nevertheless a fantastic place and would love to come back one day.
Jeah, I was wondering.... you had an extra person chasing you in the dinghy? Would love to get shots like this of Independence ones we are back on the water...
so, here's a really stupid question, and I'm prepared to be ridiculed for it. when tacking, your genoa gets hung up somewhere on the mast, if you attached a bungee cord that connected the clew to somewhere near the furler, when you release the sheets from the winch, would it not pull the sail back far enough that the genoa would clear the mast?
Great video, the latest LIDAR 'fly-over' of Guatemala revealed at least 65,000 buildings that the jungle has hidden under its canopy during the past 2,500 years.
Btw: Tikal was the scene of the rebel base in the very first Star Wars movie, Episode IV.
I don't normally comment on You Tube. However in this case I have to say respect to you all. I am now a retired pleasure sailor and over the years had to take on many of the projects you show. Love the adventure so far! I am so impressed and inspired!
The new paint is making Uma look mighty fine! Love your videos, please keep them coming! :D
The boat is almost as beautiful as the people on it great jobs
Loving the hair and that sassy look on you face! Yow!
I thought his hair looked pretty basic. But yeah, he definitely was looking sassy.
just binge watching the back catalogue and so happy to find your channel. Uma is looking lush and Tikal was incredible
Your channel just keeps getting better and better!

Uma looks amazing, you can all congratulate yourselves on an amazing job, well done! Thanks for the video!
Uma looks like a new boat again :-) Safe travels!!
Fabulous, thanks. It’s always great seeing your happy smiling face Kika and happy outlook xx
Im an old bird, and I will say you kiddos are the best! You restore our (old birds) hope in the younger generation! Love ya!!!
You guys would make all the architects from the state of Indiana proud. You have done so much to the boat, it looks super. May God be with you and safe travels.

Again, you have selected great music to support the various scenes. She looks very nice with the improvements and new paint.
Boat looks brand new....respect

Amazing shots on this one. The sunrise was.... Wow!
I'm so used to seeing the Uma Blue. She doesn't even look like the same boat!
Wow. Uma looks fantastic. Enjoy!

She looks beautiful guys. Nice sailing pics too.
Cool hike ... especially enjoyed seeing that wild AFRO set free in the jungle. Much LOVE from Canada.
Yes. Uma looks like a brand new boat, Congrats!
The finished boat after all of those projects looks amazing. Tikal looks amazing - definitely a place to add to your bucket list! Love the end with the sailing on the water and the sunset behind you. Great video! Cheers!
Amazing what a paint job will do along with some good prep work. Uma looks fantastic!
So glad you got the batteries rocking on the posts!
Yacht looks awesome. Well done. Have fond memories from 2010 of Tikal. Amazing Mayan ruins.
Brilliant! 😀 👍
Thank you so much for taking us to Tikal with you!
Bloody amazing place😊☺👍👍
All love, and best wishes, Claire, Berlin 😘 😘 ✌ 👍

Nice as always Fair winds and following seas...beam run
Ahhh feels like the good ol days again on Uma. #thatsWhyWeBinge. Thanks guys.
Some people may recognise Tikal as the location used for the planet "Yavin 4", the Rebel Base in the original Star Wars film Episode IV A New Hope.
Wild Tikal has changed so much, I was there ~25 years ago and you could climb the ruin faces and things were well maintained but not to the same level they are now. Does Uma ever look sharp with that new paint job!
Kika nailing that solo tack like a boss!!!!
Hey speaking of muscles.... it would be nice to see you on those silks again. That's always super impressive.
Uma looks fantastic may you be blessed to sail forever . . . having fun
Uma looks beautiful and again you are letting us learn about things in other country’s that I would have never known before. Thank you guys so much stay safe look forward to next time.
The boat looks AWESOME. You guys did a great job. Wait till you finish her she will be ready for a sail around the world!!!

Great vid, congratulations on your ongoing restoration/remodel of the Pearson.
Your boat looks awesome after the restoration...
Man I love that hair 🤘
First off, I love your channel, great videos, great innovations, and lots of impressive boat work,... BUUUUT,... first no lifelines, and now no toerails and no non-skid (just primer)... you have massively upped your risk factor offshore!!!
For sure! We don't really like it either. But not much we can do about it until we get to the USA and get all that work done.
Sailing Uma Tread carefully and use your jacklines! Safe travels.
When you guys are impressed with a sunrise then you know it has to be great! And, as others have stated before, Uma is looking GREAT! Cheers!
Uma looks really pretty now with her new paint job. Keep up the great work. ;-)
your home has never looked better. well done.
I went up by the steps on the pyramid in Tikal. And slept a night up there. A guard came up, and was paid some $ + a bear. There were no tourists. Tikal is an interesting place. Visit it if you are near.
She looks so pretty!
Just fabulous. Great tack! Minus 9 in Montreal today. Sigh!!
Looking Great Guys !!! Glad to see you got everything fixed. Hopefully will not have to do that again for a long time.
Work paid off big time, looks beautiful!
Uma looks amazing! What a great result from all the work You guys put into her! Congratulations and enjoy the fruits of the fantastic and huge effort! :-) Safe seas and best wishes from COLD Norway, in which waters and fjords You have to sail sometime in the future! You will love it!
Wow that boat looks beautiful!

Holy moly! $800 a person?. Wow. We ended up spending about $80 a person and that included the hotel, food, bus tickets and sunrise tour.
We would of had to fly from the port across the country to get there. It is a nice site to visit, but not for that much!
Uma looks brand spanking new!! Great work guys! And love the sailing drone footage 👍
Haha! Looks like a drone right? But it's just Kika and Sev in the dinghy! We still don't have a drone :(
Sailing Uma You guys are the DIY masters....no drone - no worries!
Thanks guys, very informative, the ruins looked very cool. Uma is looking good. Smooth sailing. ⛵👍💕💞🐾
Nice deck. Hope all the work keeps your leaks out.
All that exterior and interior white may look a little boring but it will help beat the heat. Two thumbs up.
It looks new. Andy is going to be so proud :*)
Can I request the music titles be brought back? At 13:01 you guys are leaving the dock and I'm loving that song but didn't see a title pop up. I'm adding to my sailing playlist from your videos :)
I would love to visit in fla U guys are awesome
Loved the tacking/sailing footage. Ruins were pretty cool too!
love it . be safe . see you next episode
If you liked Tikal and you are still in the area. You should go to Semuc Chempey in Lanquin and do el mirador and the water caves. But Sounds like you may have shoved off already.
Another brilliant video you two. I find myself checking in to see if you've posted the latest yet. Fair winds, justin
Uma looks great!
Another great video. Boat looks great. Do you miss the toe rails? Any leaks? The boat looks great without the life lines, are you going to put them back on?
Uma looks Great! Cheers
Uma look'n classy there. But sure you'll be putting jack lines before sailing to Florida, right? All the best, Mick
I am so glad your saw the sun rise,
I was in Tikal 2 years ago and did the early morning trip to see the sun rise but it was cloudy so did not see it.
Nevertheless a fantastic place and would love to come back one day.
The views from above of the courtyards were spectacular. It's too bad that don't allow drones on one day a year or two hours per week.
Great video! Loved the beauty shots of your boat leaving the dock.
Jeah, I was wondering.... you had an extra person chasing you in the dinghy? Would love to get shots like this of Independence ones we are back on the water...
Great episode guys.... UMA looks amazing
Great work folks.
Boat looks amazing, good job.
How slippery is the bare primer paint ? Not too much ? Don't forget you have no stanchions and guard rail yet ! :)
Great episode. The boat is looking fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
u guys are the best......
Guess I have to put that sunrise in Tikal on the bucket list, great episode, again.
