    I have the G4 and got my mom the S95D. They both look amazing. G4 looks more 3d and sharper, S95D definitely has more vibrance. Both nice. Id be happy with either

      we looked at both in a shop and my mrs knows nothing about TV's and even she said things looked like they had more depth (3d) appearance on the LG G4. the S95D looked very flat in comparison.

      @Acconda main reason I got the g4 was for that 3d pop, and side by side I imagine you would be able to tell a good bit, but when I was watching the s95d I thought it looked very good. Depends on what stands out to the individual I suppose

      I've just had to return my G4 after having it for 5 months, 1k hours of use. I'll get a S95D as a replacement, I want to test QD and the new panel.
      I'm looking forward to seeing if I spot any differences between them.
      The 3d thing, for instance, wasn't something I could tell apart in my G4, vs the CX I also have in my house..

    9:09 The comparison of the gaming content is a big reason i went with the s95d. Its almost like a night and day difference, almost literally between the 2. I hate not being able to see in really dark games, like in Dead Space remastered. But then even tho the glossy black of the G4 admittedly does look reaaly nice with those blacks, i also really hate the glare from the sunlight i get in my living room, it'll completely take out being able to see most of the top right of my old tv im replacing so I'm good with the trade off going for the anti glare panel 100%. Not being able to see either details lost in dark content or glare from ambient light i feel like defeats the whole purpose of having such a premium tv and can be very frustrating.

    I was leaning toward the G4, but I also had a great experience with an older Samsung. Having said that, your video has helped me with my decision and that is the G4. Looking for Sound and natural colors - we aren't game players at aged 60, but if I was a true gamer, then I would take on the Samsung. Another point, we probably will never install a sound bar and I believe the main reason for choosing the G4 is the same reason why I purchased a high end Samsung around 2008 - Sound was everything, then picture. Same reason why we purchased a genesis g80, it came down to the sound system. (older folks don't like clutter). Thanks for the video and it would be nice one day to breakdown your video for Gamers and non-gamers, it might help your comparisons from becoming to broad.

    G4 surprised me by adding 3d visual impression to the picture of the g3 and C4 because of better processing with mla i guess, while s95d disappointed me by removing the 3d effect from the s95c and a95l with their matte finish, even if I waited for that for years against reflections. Now, I still prefer a95l for its beautiful colors and that depth in the pictures.

    I got the 77" G4. For me its a win and no issues in movies or gaming. PC gaming is so good and you can even turn on Dolby Vision mode on it and you can run PC gaming in any picture mode.
    In HGiG HDR mode it goes up to 1500 nits while S95D goes up to 1700 nits and Samsung is brighter full screen. But in real life I see that MLA+ panel seems to be as bright as the S95D. The processing in ans sharpening is very good and I think LG will improve the software over time.

    When both were released I opted for the G4 because it did appear more accurate than the S95D. The Samsung’s picture appeared to look more like animated content. Also, since the LG supported Dolby Vision I felt it was the better choice. Unfortunately, once I got it home I noticed sometimes dark scenes were nearly impossible to see. In Wakanda Forever there were quite a few scenes where this happened. It took some tweaking of the settings on my Apple TV and the G4 but I was able to get it to a point where we could enjoy the movie. Once we moved I opted for the S95D in our media room and it is significantly better when watching movies using an Apple TV device.

    I was looking to replace a 34" PC screen (3440 x 1440) and I decided to use an LG OLED TV from the C or G series! I was thinking of buying the C4 in 55" (Because I know that the 42" and 48" versions have less brightness). It's for PC + Gaming use!
    After a long price follow-up on different websites I just bought the 55" G3 on the FNAC website in France for €1056...That is to say at the same price that I would have had the C4!!!
    I do not regret my choice although I lose some improvements that the 2024 version of the C4 offers on the G3.
    In France the 55" version of the S95D is prohibitively expensive...And the 55" version of the S90D is not QLED but WOLED.
    So my choice was obvious.

    10:36 this scene bothers me the most about the S95D (besides the matte). The G4 looks much better. If people don't look real what's the point of all the QD color capability? S95D is better cause it has far superior anti-glare coating. For me this is key, cause most of us do have bright rooms. The best and sharpest TV is useless if you can see your white socks as a reflection while watching Alien or Batman.

      QOLED looks like it has durability issues if Rtings is anything to go by. The lack of a white sub pixel means numerous colours need to be used to create white, and this may be what is leading to premature aging with the sets that have failed.

LG here wins on motion while I cant stand that dimm/dark picture in darker scenes and overall. If I buy Samsung S95D on the other hand will I again experience that non-smooth movie experience? They're both great in their own way. I like that the Samsung has a matte finish to reduce all that glare. And I find it's color accuracy and a lot of ways to be very very accurate. I own the G4 and probably the best TV I've ever owned. I've owned almost every flagship Sony since 2016 including the A95L. The brightness in vividness of the colors and saturation on the A95L are really great but the motherboard started to die within 2 months and I just had it with Sony at this point. I wasn't always a gamer but I went out and bought an Xbox series X just to see what the big deal about this TV was with gaming and the G4 holy crap If you occasionally play video games I recommend getting and Xbox series X or PlayStation 5 just to take advantage of what it offers because wow mind blown I didn't realize these games could look and play as good as they do on the G4. If you're not gaming on your G4 you're not using half the TV's capabilities I have to tell you. Anyway you can't go wrong with either one of these TVs

  • @JustAnObserver-tw4ib
    @JustAnObserver-tw4ib หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    That's not true, according to RTINGS, the G4 is brighter than the S95D for movies and gaming. The S95D can only maintain its peak brightness for a short time. But the G4 always does so thanks to its cooling system, which you forgot to mention.

    • @JoeBlackDreamer

      S95D(and Sony A95L) is better for color luminance and gradient.

      @JustAnObserver-tw4ib หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JoeBlackDreamer Many tests say something different, the LG G4 can maintain peak brightness better than the Samsung S95D simply because of the cooling system and the MLA. That's a technical fact. And the Sony may be a bit better. But at what price and the fact that the Sony A95L only has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports in 2024 and the eARC port is on the second HDMI port is a deal breaker for me. The Sony also doesn't have Dolby Vision IQ. And no, I'm not an LG fan, but LG simply has the better price-performance ratio.

    • @JoeBlackDreamer
      @JoeBlackDreamer หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JustAnObserver-tw4ib I am referring to color luminance, to the best gradients on top of the range Sony and Samsung, not to the maximum peak to be maintained for several seconds or minutes; and the data measured with the calorimeter are not disputed; Rtings gives higher marks and as references of luminance and color gradients to Samsung and Sony.
      The maximum brightness peaks are never the reference when the software reduces ABL and the TV is under calibration.

    • @JustAnObserver-tw4ib
      @JustAnObserver-tw4ib หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JoeBlackDreamer I also couldn't find any reason why Rtings gives Sony or Samsung more points than the LG G4. But it could well be that they are better in that respect. But you will agree with me that the LG G4 simply offers more features than Sony and Samsung. Sony has no Dolby Vision IQ, no Dolby Vision 120Hz and only 2x HDMI 2.1. The Samsung only has 40 Gbps via the HDMI 2.1 connections, the LG has 48 Gbps. You know yourself that the Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision at all. There are more, but I think you get what I'm getting at. I just buy what offers me the most for the money and not what name it has on it.

    • @JoeBlackDreamer
      @JoeBlackDreamer หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JustAnObserver-tw4ib I've never used DV at 120Hz.. it increases latency both in gaming and with audio systems and the general quality is never night and day. They are specifications that form a package but are never an exploitation of real 12-bit usability. Video contents, especially streaming ones, are highly compressed. In gaming the reference is HGIG not Dolby Vision, because games are post-produced and sometimes even badly. Sony PS5 Pro does not support Dolby Vision with good reason, but it has the best HDR titles on consoles, such as GT7 with its visuals.
      I could give other examples of the fact that Dolby Vision, as it is exploited, is unjustifiably overvalued.

Not in a single scene is it brighter in your comparison. And so you either put them in unfair picture modes (standard, vivid, film etc.) which you also failed to disclose.
    Where the S95D outperforms in general is in colorful images where the color brightness is greater. And in SDR game mode where the brightness is quite a lot brighter.

    S95D is the best Home Theater TV this year: it has the best color luminance, best color accuracy (post calibration), best gradation, best near black management, best black uniformity.
    the antiglare coating does not reflect what I have behind the sofa, when the pixels on the screen are close to black.
    Dolby Vision is overrated and with the quality of both TVs a lot depends on the post production of the content, and very often it is not night and day in Dolby Vision, as for gaming, which offers the best visual control with HGIG and HDR( best image quality at low latency). The future will probably be HDR10+ as already seen for Cyberpunk.
