The engine response is fast and it makes the engines sound cheap and small as a result. The lack of the subtle jet blast sounds also makes it feel powerless and makes it sound even cheaper. It's also far too loud for sounds in the cockpit, since the cockpit is not close to the engine, the volume of them is quieter. The quality of the audio is pretty nice, props to whoever synthesized or recorded those sounds. But it could have been a much better soundpack had they mastered it better and the engine modeling was better. The exterior sounds are a joke. It's a shame because if there were more time put into this, it would've been much better ! Thank you for the video, by the way, showed the pmdg as is. no funky editing.
The RR sounds really good but how the fuck aren't the blades spinning when taking off? Sloppy work from pmdg. The GE and the PW sound almost the same and like a vacuumcleaner
The external sounds are definitely crappy, especially compared to PMDGs other aircraft, but I can definitely hear slight differences in the sounds. Not 77 dollars difference though, which is the problem
Only the Interior VC sounds are accurate for all the 3 engine variants.The External sounds are same.Suggesting you all to use Turbine Sound Studios soundpack(Pilot Edition) for each Engine Variant.
@@jordan4541 no. the sound is pretty different too. the weaker ge90 has a lot more rumble or roar whatever you call it vs the ge90-110/115 which doesnt have a lot of it. if your a frequent plane spotter, you should be able to easily distinguish the takeoff of ge90 on 772/773 and the takeoff of ge90 on 77l/77w.
@@rv7w602 I worked next to all those 777 vatients. They're all GE90 at the end of the day and there is no 'easily' identifiable sound difference compared to a an RB11 for example. The GE90s all sound the same on startup and spool up. The only easily identifiable difference is power
There was a bug with the sound code on release. The 777 has been updated multiple times since the February release and the sounds have been fixed. The RR exterior sound accurate now: a mix between the 747's RR engines and a GE90.
Guys, Use TSS sound pack. PMDG never had good airplane sounds from MD-11 to 737 to 747/777. I always used TSS sounds and they are amazing. PMDG is not know for the engine sounds unfortunately. Even though it’s advertised, I never believed it
Yes,Exactly.I always use TSS sounds for my PMDG aircrafts.Their Startup and VC default sounds are only accurate.Rest all are just base sounds.I had mentioned about the TSS soundpacks above.
The interior sound overhaul was very successful. Sounds very true to real life, but it falls short with the exterior sound that with the right picture in mind can resemble an old air conditioner.
Trent 800 is messed up! Guys with aerosoft A330 professional can try replacing Trent 700 of the A330 in the 772ER’s Trent 800 sound folder if it works! Trent 500/700/800 all sound the same, so if it’s possible to replace the Aerosoft Trent sounds in PMDG (not the best idea), the RR 777 would actually sound true to life, as the aerosoft has done a neat job with the Trent 700 sound pack!
naaaaah the Trent 800 is the best one here, accurate sounds and even the engine model looks perfect, then the PW and the last and most horrific is the GE94B( which ironically is my favourite engine! and PMDG has done a sloppy job on it)
@@TheAviationChannel. Eh, have to disagree about accurate sounds. I have been on quite a few RR powered 777s in my time, and the sounds were quite a ways off. Also been on the GE ones, and they are also bad, but I don't think they are as bad as the RR ones. But that's the point, none of them should be bad at this price range, especially to the point where you realise that you'll have to get a TSS sound pack to pretty much enjoy they plane when you get it...
As someone who has been on both RR and GE powered 777, the sounds are meh. The RR are really far from what they sound in reality inside, and the while the GE sounds better inside, it could be better. Outside however, I don't think either of them sound accurate at all, especially since they pretty much sound the same (apart from the lowest levels of power). I recommend to anyone watching to at least pick up the TSS Trent 895 sound pack. I know it's extra money, but they sounds pretty much spot on how they do irl. It's really disappointing though. I usually love PMDG's sounds, but these ones are very underwhelming for me, which is even more disappointing when you consider the sheer price of this addon. I understand they have put a lot of work into this addon, as well as the free update, but I am not entirely convinced that it's worth almost $78. I still plan on getting it, but only because I know the -200ER will get a lot of use because of how much I fly BA. If this was another plane, with the same short comings and price, I wouldn't be buying it at all. Maybe I am just salty about the fact that my really expensive plane decided to stop responding to input on approach to Dubai today and crashed itself (this was the -300ER). I also feel that PMDG's reactions to peoples opinions has been incredibly unprofessional by technically saying people are wrong and that they have put a lot of effort into it and it's completely worth the money. I do not doubt so much work has been put into it, but something is seriously wrong when several people are criticising the price. Heck, a meme post of PMDG milking customers on FSElite has 65+ likes now, and they still claim it's priced perfectly. I'm sure not many of us at all would be complaining if it was $50-60 tops. I just really hope PMDG re-evaluates their pricing strategy in the future, because as of right now, they cannot release products that have so many short comings and charge the price they do. Oh and also, while I get the EFB needed a lot of work for calculating performance of the plane, I think what put's the cherry on top of this whole controversial release is the fact that the EFB on the base and 300ER is locked behind a paywall. Some people may never want to fly the -200ER, yet will be forced to buy it if they want an EFB. Anyway, that's enough of this rant.
Really disappointed that pw4090 sound. I know pw4090 engine sound. In my real life I’ve been aboard 777-200ER many times and Korean air 777-300 non ER. I own all PMDG products for FSX and P3D. Hopefully PMDG release new sound pack. In my opinion other Trent and GE90 sounds are okay to me.
Will they include the 777-300 for free with the 200ER in the future? It makes sense to do that right? Since the 777-300 is just a simple stretch with no extra changes from 200ER.
@@TheAviationChannel. If these are the things you care about, PMDG products is not for you. The resources go into making an airplane that works as closely as possible to the real airplane. Full flight simulators don't even have an external model. They'll fix it, but spend your time learning to fly a 777 rather than looking a a texture that anyone could make.

Rolls Royce engine sound are pretty much like PW engine , they missed the spooling and very heavy roaring sound. I felt like listening the vacuum machine especially for external part. They need heavy fix on this issue. If they try to compare to real world engine , it must be really disappointed.
because of P3D v5.1, it doesnt like PBR ( the chrome and shine ) so it just turns them black, cant do anything about, only a HotFix from Lockheed Martin can fix this

Its mostly maintenance issues not the engine.

the exterior sounds the same for all the variants imo, only the cockpit audio is accurate and good
The engine blades are bugged it´s a known issue due to a messed up value in the code or something like that should be fixed shortly

Not true. The fan textures were moving but perfectly synched with the refresh rate. Doesn't matter now since they fixed it a few days after release.

GE90 sounds nothing like real life. I've flown on the 777 countless times in front and behind the engine, as well as working on the Ramp at Heathrow
The GE90 on 77L and 77W sound different from the one on the 772 tho

Completely agree. PMDG quality is going downhil like Boeing itself unfortunately. Qualitywings 787 has 10x better engine animation than PMDG
