Wow this is truly enlightened. Im an art photographer and just bought a GB Camera a couple months ago and have been trying to figure out how to get different perspectives. This vid gave me a lot of ideas ❤️
I too built the Arduino printer emulator and it works pretty well, but the fastest way to get your pics off is to use something like a Joey Jr. It's just a USB device that you can plug any GB cartridge to. It'll show up like a USB drive on your PC and you simply pull the save file onto your PC. Then there's a program out there that lets you open a GB Camera save file and pull all the photos off at once. It's much quicker than having to print each pic individually, but both methods work really well
The loss of focus mid zoom might be due to the lens quality. When you change the focal length the focus plane shifts, unless the lens compensates for it. Neat concept. Looking forward to an update!
That cheap Tamron lens is probably more varifocal then parfocal, but even some of the very expensive zoom lenses "breathe" (zoom changing slightly) when they focus.
It's a real-life to 8-bit sprite generator! Imagine how easy it would be to focus the lens on a photo or monitor where the image could be anything on the internet. Retro content creator efficiency hack. Later, program a software version and cut out the retro console and camera lens middle-men.
got the lens adaptor printing, have the gameboy, and the lenses. Just gotta find me a camera! your channel is so rad man. Definitely subscribed! Hopefully I can make this happen like you did
It's pretty easy. If the fit on the lense or sensor is to tight just ajust the x and y axis bigger like 1% or something without changing z and print again
There’s also a PSP camera. I have two PSP’s and I can connect them to an HDMI multiviewer so I can play on one and use the camera on the other to show me in PIP. I’d like to see something like that with this one. You can see it in action on my latest video with both PSP’s.
Probably something simpler and easier to catch the eye. "I put a DSLR camera on a Gameboy" Same ideology with the thumbnail. Maybe a picture of a Gameboy and an arrow to a DSLR , both items with highlighted edge. Go check people like small ant for examples of their thumbnail ideology. It's just simplifying it and making the idea pop as much as possible in the extremely short time someone looks at the image. (I mean no disrespect btw , this video was such a cool idea)
Although this is incapable of _displaying_ at any higher resolution, I wonder if it can process and render at least 2x native resolution, which you can view on the computer in full res. It would also be very cool to 3D print a mount for the Arduino, set it up for wireless connection to the PC, and have it decode the picture automatically. A few time consuming steps taken out of the picture (pun intended)
This is amazing!! But yeah you need to mod you gameboy with a backlit screen. Which is a 100 times easier then what you were able to do to the gameboy camera..lol
@@Conorsev ohh that sounds cool. It would be very Labor intensive, but it might be cool to try doing panorama photography by doing stitching as well. If I had it myself I'd try to do macro photography.
Hmmm incorrect. The Mad Catz program that came out around 1999/2000 actually extracts the photos from the camera to your PC and saves the photos as bitmaps.
Some people have modify old gameboy for generate midi tones , mining bitcoin & now hacking the gb cam with zoom lens & moving its file into pc via arduino.. All of that represent of gameboy spirit..weird , unique & hypnotize..
Yo, I have to admit, white dudes are insanely inquisitive. You guys do stuff that nobody is interested that ends up being the most interesting ish ever. This is insane. I’m actually confused, intrigued and shocked all at the same time.
@@Conorsev you must know, that I am a complete 3D Print noob. All I thought is to open the file and printing it. Now I wanted to start this with a friends help and questions occur like, which size so it fits to the camera and holes for the screws, walls printed double layer 😅
Now i wonder if there is a mod that totally dismantles the gamboy and camera and puts it into gameboy themed camera shaped enclosure. Use buttons and screen from the gameboy and such.

To get GB photos off of my GB Camera, I used to plug the GB Camera cart into a Interact Mega Memory Card cartridge, and then into the Gameboy. I then backed up the GB Camera's SAV file to the Mega Memory Card. Then, I plugged in a GB USB Smart Card 64M into the Mega Memory Card cart and into the Gameboy. I then sent the SAV file from the Mega Memory Card to the GB USB Smart Card 64M. I then plugged the GB USB Smart Card 64M into a computer via USB and downloaded the SAV file. I then opened a GB Camera ROM into an emulator, loaded the SAV file I had extracted, and then took a screen shot of the screen when looking at the photos. All of that was probably faster than printing a single photo to the GB Printer...
I'm waiting for some parts to get here to make a portable thing using a raspberry pie to dump the rom over WiFi streight to my phone. Should be good for clearing the canera on the go
Next step is putting gameboy camera with upgraded photo lence on Sniper rifle for long distance scooping, my suggestion M1 Garand cuz its a old as model of rifle same as the gameboy is a old as console perfect match xD
Now you just need to set it up to servo move the camera in scan lines, take a shot, dump the photo to print, delete the photo, rinse repeat, so you can stitch all the photos together to get a *high res* stitched together shot, first megapixel gameboy camera photo?
What lenses are you using? I have my setup complete but my pictures are blurry/unfocused. Could my problem be the lenses or the sensor is out of place?
Wow this is truly enlightened. Im an art photographer and just bought a GB Camera a couple months ago and have been trying to figure out how to get different perspectives. This vid gave me a lot of ideas ❤️
It's a pretty easy mod to make
That was pretty awesome!! Love the retro photo style that comes from it.
Amazing video!
I can't wait to see albums of photographers who used the Gameboy camera for taking the pictures :D
Ive been wondering about this and you beat me to it. Stellar work, mate! absolutely love it!
I'm defently not the 1st to do it
You're the coolest prelude owner
This Is just what internet Is made for! Great work!
Knowing the lengths you go through to get the final image makes it so much more impressive. Its practically an art form of its own, amazing work.
This is the best thing I've seen in a while. Great job!

This is genuinely fantastic
This is absolutely awsome!! My friend shared your post from Facebook and instally inspired me to get my hands on these to make one 😁
Man this is so cool! Your compositions with the drift cars was spot on very impressive
Great stuff mate, found your post of your drift event pics on the Toyota Soarer Aus page on Facebook just then 👍
It'd be cool to see this for Four Thirds lenses, I'm just starting to get into photography and that's all I've got so far 😬
Thats badass bro! Great job, it would be cool to see some more photos tho!
Hoping to make a video taking it out to an event to take photos
Came here from the news article. So cool!!!
this is mind bending - thank you for showing this process!! amazing results
I’m happy TH-cam are suggesting much smaller channels recently as usual i thought I was watching some big TH-camr!!
That's awsome. I'm glad I'm being reccomend. This video is over 2000 views now!
It's all relative who counts as a "big" TH-camr!
Man that was truly amazing. I wish i could give you a hundred likes!
I absolutely love this and need it! I hope it works well with landscapes
Subbed man this is super awesome, on my way to pick up a camera and gameboy right now haha
Cool video! Keep up the diversity on your channel
I love this kind of content with old gadgets, beautiful video.
I really love it. Great work. I thought your first photo of the lens on Twitter was a joke. ^^

This dude owns an Honda City, if there's anyone I trust can get good photos on a Game Boy Camera and know how to dump them it's this lad.
Change the title and thumbnail and this will go properly viral.
Super fun idea and video !
What would you suggest
Probably something simpler and easier to catch the eye.

Hell yea !!! Here from the Facebook group!!!!
Cool but facebook steals and sells your data. Better delete the account now.
Cool now take pictures with red, green and blue filters in front of the lens and combine them to create color photographs.
Trichrome everything a la Attic DarkRoom
This is really cool. Old techno in modern world. We living in retro xD.
Awesome 👍👍 i want it like poster. It's great 👍
This was fun to watch thanks for making this!
Just saw this on twitter! So sick 🔥🔥🔥
God i love technology. I had the og Gameboy Camera and printer or rather my family had it. This is so cool
So dope saw the drift car pictures on Facebook.

I've been wanting to do something like this for so long thanks
I'd probably make a C-mount version. Biggest issue is that it needs like 10mm lens because of the crop factor.
UNSW graduate here. Love your shirt
Haha thanks. I did my apprenticeship there and have like 20 of these shirts still haha
😭 What a dope experiment man
You might be surprised but you have to turn the focus ring to focus as nor the camera or adapter have autofocus
Really? I thought it would auto focus
Nice! Show us all the hot wheels collectiion!!
Honda City is such a dope car. Do you have the Motocompo aswell?
Awesome! I think you can get the photos off using things like the Joey Jr. But those are more expensive. Your way was definitely cheaper lol

Can you share some of your Game Boy Camera images you made? Do you have a webpage or so? I really would like to see some. They look nice.
I found them on petapixel. I have a question: Could you also upload them in black and white instead of with the green filter? It looks much cleaner.
great video and idea. but was it nessisary to cut a gameboy printer cable, or could you just have used a regular link cable
That was an eBay link cable
To get GB photos off of my GB Camera, I used to plug the GB Camera cart into a Interact Mega Memory Card cartridge, and then into the Gameboy.
